in The Million Dollar a Month Facebook Application on AllFacebook
Of course, all we can assume as readers is that your are making it up, which will automatically make us question any other post in the blog. Congratulations, your credibility went down to 'near 0' in just 6 lines... 8-)

in TechCrunch gets it right on Hartwell on Mathew's comments
In the end, it's all about the compensation, as some of us suspected long ago, and not about attribution or "not replying nicely to an email request".
It's so easy to close up your photos in Flickr, or simply to use a real photo sales site, that it's really hard to understand why LH didn't do that in the first place...
It's all about the money, Zappa said it best a long time ago... :)

in Mobile Web sucks — or maybe it doesn’t on Mathew's comments
While Scott's points are a bit 2002-ish, Russell's answer was pertty much not called for.
The other hand, I love seeing a blogger fight that doesn't involve Dave Winer for a change... ;)

in Digg, the echo chamber and Matthew on Mathew's comments
No, seriously: the NYT realized this only now?
This what the movie, music and even A-listers have based their marketing model on for a long time.
This is the reason music labels don't promote small bands, or the reason why the movie business is now creating more sequels or trilogies than ever...
The experiment may have been interesting, but hardly new insights here, I think. Mind you, they could just have talked to the guys at amiestreet.com and asked for their data... ;)

in Twitter — like SMS but for the Web on Mathew's comments
Me, I've been fascinated by the whole Twitter thing. I tried it a couple of months ago, wrote about it and promptly forgot it as well...
And I think you're right, US bloggers find twitter fascinating because of the SMS part mostly, and since in Europe we've been using SMS for some years now, the novelty just isn't there.
The worst part, for Twitter, will be when the fad dies away, as it seems to be doing (check twitter.com's traffic in Alexa, it seems to have reached a peak).
Now, destroying our lives? No, you just need to be aware of the usage conventions for any instant messaging, SMS not being very different that any messenger-like app: don't use it if you need immediate reply, don't even expect a reply, don't expect to engage into a conversation through it, etc, etc...

in Doesn’t Amazon want to get naked? on Mathew's comments
There is no excuse for being rude, especially if you a re the one inviting the speakers. Want to show of and double or triple your blogs traffic and/or name recognition? Fine, but I'm not convinced this is the way...
the Amazon guy's point is valid, though. But I think you can say the same with a great big smile and being nice...

in Hey look - it’s 1996 all over again on Mathew's comments
Me, I think it may have it's niche... For one thing, I wish the GeoCities of this world were so easy to use back then... 8-)
But I am thinking of the very small, no-tech-whatsoever-except-for-billing-maybe companies, you know, your neighborhood plumber and the likes. This is a great way to have a quick presence, and indexed by Google. Also, I wouldn't rule out a tie-in with Google Base, so that you don't need to leave the Googlesphere to list your stuff...
Just a thought...

Couldn't resist posting my own cufflinks after seeing this... 8-)
It is all about the money.
And all this talk of copyrights and not stealing from artists and plagiarism is all a smokescreen for a hack to get paid. It's so disingenuous it makes me sick.
This photo in particular isn't art, she takes pictures of tech guys at parties, with a digital camera, with an on-camera flash. We're not talking Robert Frank here...
