in Online Advertising in Oman on Blue_Chi
Two cents on online advertising:
1. We have dud PR/advertising companies in Oman who advice their clients only to go for print advertising, and in the rarest of rare cases TV channels. Online is never in their scheme of things. I have interacted with Dubai agencies who understand the power of internet very well. Our (Oman) psyche is tuned to see ads only in the print only.
2. Lack of internet penetration makes the situation even more horrible. Imagine just two percent of the population having access to broadband internet. The clients expect a decent ROI, which doesn’t happen most of the time. These days, ads are tracked by way of JavaScripts and always we get to hear that Oman market provides poor response to ad campaigns in the whole of GCC.

Excellent post. During late 90s, a lot of net savvy folks made quick money by parking domains. Now, the trend is more in Middle East, where most businesses are still not on WWW map.

I may want to read 'The World is Flat' for a simple reason that Thomas Friedman is behind it. His columns in NYT are superb.

in Not Anonymous on Blue_Chi
You said it right. I do have an urge to blog anonymously at times when I have many 'stories/gossips' to reveal and I cannot do it on my present blog. The best part of blogging with a name along is that it provides instant credibility, which I guess, is not possible when you blog anonymously. Like Amjad said, just because many people read my blog, and keep an eye, I cannot afford to write baseless or incredible stuff. That way self-censoring is taken care of. All said and done, it has benefited me in many ways every since I decided to blog with my name.

That's cool. Wordpress has some fantastic features and will beat Blogger hands down any given day. All said and done, I am somehow attached to Blogger, and can't get myself to think of a move to Wordpress.

Molten Choc Cake is my fav too! I wish Chili's had a branch in Al Khuwair/Qurum area.

Ew, Bollywood and Kamat are the two places I hate in Muscat. They are simply overrated, and have crap veggie food in their menus. They are doing total disservice to Indian food.
If you want to relish nice Indian veg food, head over to Woodlands (CBD), Saravana Bhavan (next to Ruwi flyover), Oman Express (Ruwi high street) or Annapoorna, behind Pizza Muscat, MBD.

I swear, chicken club sandwich is too good. Last time, we sat outside and it gets quite noisy after 8pm with youngsters making a beeline with their cars around the Al Shatti cinema.

in Review: Woodlands - Sohar on Omani Cuisine
I am a great fan of their chicken biriyani, though the portion is too much for a single person to consume in one go. Chicken Varutha Curry (chicken fry) and Fish Tikka (king fish) also rocks at their CBD branch; try those next time. Coming back to bad service, I feel most of the restaurants in Muscat have staff who have no knowledge of the food being dished out in their restaurants and many of them are rude.
