I was willing to cut Cindy McCain some slack on her past, that is until she started casting aspersions on Michelle. When Mrs. McCain did that she lost the right not to have her past deeds scrutinized. Forgive the cliche, but people in glass houses really have no business throwing stones.

I guess I've been hanging with the wrong crowd all these years because nobody I knew ever said Whitey. I've heard a couple of my older relatives use the terms Mr. Charlie or Miss Ann, but that's it as far as generic white slurs go. Specific ethnic slurs, such as for Italians and Jews, is another story though. Sigh.

I was writing my post as yours went up, so my putting "the conversation" in quotes is not directed at you. No offense.

This makes me think back to my office last year when Imus was fired. My department is predominately made up of white guys in their late 20s-early 30s. They're into the frat boy humor, think Howard Stern is God, etc., just to give you an idea of the mentality I'm dealing with.


They just couldn't understand what the big deal was about the "nappy headed hos" comment, after all gansta rappers call each other niggers and their women hos and bitches, so it must be okay.



Anyway, I tried to explain how those names were unacceptable coming from rappers, and 10 times as unacceptable coming from a white person. I might as well have been talking to a brick wall. Finally, to put it in terms the guys could understand I said, "Jeff Foxworthy calls white people rednecks. So I guess that means it's okay for me to call you a redneck then."



Honestly, I'm at the point in my life where I'm so over trying to jusftify my existence. If a white person wants to talk about racial issues, and is open-minded enough to have a serious exchange, I'm always up for that. But I no longer waste my time having "the conversation" with folks who act like smart asses. If they want to wallow in their ignorance, they can be my guest.

That picture is probably too scandalous to use on the cover LOL. It practically screams "yes our sex life is hotter than ever, thanks for asking." But then again it would be a refreshing change to have a First Couple that sleeps with each other instead of other people.

Aside from KO and BBC World, I don't watch TV news so I have no opinion on Russert's influence one way or the other. Having said that, I feel great sympathy for his colleagues and especially his family.


From what I've been hearing Russert's wife and son were still in Italy when he passed, so I can only imagine their added anguish of not being with him in those final moments. And for his father, nothing is more tragic than to have to bury your child. May God bless and keep them during this time.

Not surprised that Andrews is only coming out with this after the fact. He’s my congressman and one of those blue dog Democrats you always hear about…voted to invade Iraq, sides with Bush more often than not, etc. The messed-up thing is that machine politics have the NJ Dems on lockdown so he can’t be primaried out. In fact Andrews’ wife just won the House seat he left to run against Lautenberg. She ran solely to serve as a “placeholder” until the machine can put in their choice. Gee, wonder who that will be now?


I’m quite bitter about being denied real representation all these years.

I was in Fez, Morocco when my sister called me with the news in the middle of the night. I was shocked. The next day the other guests at the place I was staying peppered me with all sorts of questions (I was the only American there). I do remember telling them even back then that Hillary was a snake in the grass and that people would be shocked by her true nature. I can attest that the world is watching this election closely.
