Thank you for writing.

Re: Cedar Point Memories – Part 5 – Tiki Scrambled

I really want to say I remember the fun house. It's only because a few things sound familiar. Since I was 5 it's final year I think I remember more possible memories than actual. I swear I remember the slides though.

I'm not going to do a piece on it since I can not remember a single real detail concretely. Just like the Tiki Twirl - I'm sure I experienced it, just doesn't strike me though.

Re: Cedar Point Memories – Part 2 – Arcade Hijinks

You do know the earth quake closed 84. So I was 8 when it was finally gone.

Re: Cedar Point Memories – Part 2 – Arcade Hijinks

Well when I lived there essentially for a couple years it made no sense that I didn't really have a big Cedar Point post. When I started to plan it out, the post was going to way too huge. So I then was going to break it up. The only thing that gave me any coherence to follow is the date that the rides / attractions entered. It also pushes me to get to the modern years.

I don't remember the haunted house, but I'm aware it existed. The one that was in the Berenstein Bears was the Earthquake ride. The Pirate Ride was the other dark ride style that I loved.

I am going to do my best to get as many of the ride videos into the posts that I can.

Re: Will Static Sites Rise Again with Cloud Services?

Couldn't you use a private CMS somewhere for editing and maintaining page text (granted CSS will have to be maintained through Jekyll or whatever generator you wanted) - this way if you edited the page in your CMS you could easily update your static site by just regenerating from the database on the fly?

This could allow for wordpress installations to become private on your desktop installations - and then push out the static to S3. The best of both worlds - ease of use editing in the CMS - fast site serving and the elimination of database calls for internet use?

Re: The Time I Found Out My Girlfriend Was Engaged – Not to Me

It is what it is - I was trying to think of something I wanted to share that was personal that I haven't written about yet.

Re: The Time I Found Out My Girlfriend Was Engaged – Not to Me

Something makes me feel that I should have added "and she was pregnant too" at the end of the title

Re: The Tide Raises All Ships

I think that twitter has given us the ability to post bite sized - it has allowed us to think smaller. I'll go days without even posting to twitter - then I will have a flood of posts in a day. For myself this means I'm not writing - and the downside of that - I'm not becoming a better writer.

I waste my time on Facebook - but I think of my blog as my own little garden - one that has been neglected. So to get back into blogging regularly - it's going to be actual work for awhile.

Re: Creating An Online Home For Friends

By the way if you worked at the haunted school house / cornfield and want to be included - please let me know.

Re: Worried About Skyhook Mapping Your Wifi Router To a GeoLocation?

Actually the information theory is sound if you realize that it about an individual removing their Mac address from the database. Since it isn't about people doing it collectively in a neighborhood, the assisted GPS database would still function perfectly fine for someone that was using the service.

We do run into the part that I didn't touch upon, that if Skyhook can handle duplicate Mac
Addresses or not. If they can you would have to check the frequency they patrol an area before your MAC is back in the database - then you would have to change it again.

Also this is about routers and not about tracking laptops or phones - which would be a completely different discussion.

Re: Meeting Qitu

Yes, I still have the hat (pack rat I am) - but at least I guessed right with the chance meeting at GF. I was the prophet of Jeebus for that costume party. I was actually surprised I won since it was a last minute thrown together thing.

Re: My Estranged Mother E-mails Me to Say – I Told You So

Such a nice and thoughtful thing to say. I mean it makes me want to tell my son my house is no longer his home right now. Maybe I should get a leap on things and teach him that a persons worth is what they own and the appearance of how much money they earn. I mean these are the things that really matter right? Not caring whether your child had a good time at a sleep over, but how was the house you stayed at decorated.

I'll also give up on life and have my children do everything for me including trying to help pay my bills - but constantly shop the home shopping network daily while complaining I have no money. I'll also make sure that bringing a date I've been seeing 2 months along on the parent student award nights at high school - after my date (who 4 months later will be my spouse) smacks him upside the head the first time they meet him.

Yeah - I'll start working on that right now and maybe my son will love me just as much as I love my mother.

But seriously - if I screw up the relationship with my son, I'll accept that I'll deserve it and not blame him for everything thinking that I'm completely innocent. Only the completely naive think they are not culpable. I'll also have the advantage of screwing up completely differently than my mother did with me.

So how long has it been since your child spoke to you?

Re: Scribd – Your Claiming Someone Owns the Copyright on Huckleberry Finn?

search term - "greatest accomplishment of mankind" - still number 1 and 2 in google is me :)

Re: Scribd – Your Claiming Someone Owns the Copyright on Huckleberry Finn?

Then again - Twain hated the public domain and thought copyright should be perpetual......

Re: Scribd – Your Claiming Someone Owns the Copyright on Huckleberry Finn?

Which login did you use - FB? I had a Disqus account before they added FB integration so it has always worked fine and fast for me (and I'm on a netbook right now).

I figured I'll take a couple hundred books - make some mild modifications and throw them at scribd and see what happens. I'm also going to do a suckleberry fhinn edition of huck finn now and see if the problem happens all over again.

Re: Scribd – Your Claiming Someone Owns the Copyright on Huckleberry Finn?

Two minutes after I get a notice you commented, I get an email from Jason. I've always had some good luck with google juice - for at least a year I had the number one and number three hit for "the greatest achievement of mankind" so they must like me.

Re: WordPress – It’s a Love – Hate Thing

Oh - my wife and I like just like to do complex things with our sites (even though it doesn't look like it) - the simpler backend stuff you do the less pain in the butt it is (and it's two clicks to update this stuff).

My rant makes it seem worse than it is.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight Returns.

I became a huge Frank Miller fan later in life, but the Dark Knight returns was the first of his stuff that I ever read. Later, thanks to K. Smith I was huge into Daredevil, and you can't be a DD without reading Mr. Miller's stuff. Someday I'm going to have to check how much of his stuff I actually own. I haven't even looked at my comic collection in years.

Re: This is a Crock – Best Sweater Vest Ever!

I am actually annoyed now that I didn't title this post "Harry Potter Sporting Mario Sweater" - that would have been some link bait

Re: This is a Crock – Best Sweater Vest Ever!

Is it just me or does that kid look like Harry Potter?

Re: Goonies Forever.

One of my favorite trips was going to Astoria and seeing the Goonies house :)

Re: Click Through Advertising – The Evil Truth

I totally agree, but the blogs that make the most money via click through advertising are link bait generic blogs. I don't agree and I don't play in that game. I don't even use any revenue sites for my blog anymore (I may need to check if I'm using them on another site). Regardless it is not a way to make money and get rich. You should be writing for the love it.

Now if the argument is how to gain regular readership and return visitors, well then I agree with you. A focused blog gains those things, a generic blog makes more revenue. Is it fair, no not at all. I don''t believe in the gold rush mentality that the web will make you rich. Even if you use Amazon you become a type of shill - which for the right things I don't mind - but it also makes me uneasy at times. So my blog has been mostly revenue free for a couple years now.

The question is on the interesting blogs that you normally go to, do you click the advertiser links and actually make a purchase?

Re: Drinks On Us?

Well then wouldn't have it not been needed as an incentive then? ;)
