I read Future Shock years ago and it had a huge impression on me. I am glad the man (and woman!) behind the book lived up to that reputation. I hope you will someday share more if your memories and learnings.

Re: Images you can use for blogging : The Commons

Yes, I instead should say thank you for pointing out the importance of considering copyright when using images.

Re: Images you can use for blogging : The Commons

Thank you for looking at the copyright side of things, Kevin. I posted a question to Scoble's discussion yesterday asking what Lists are, if they are the same as Interests (this is not clear from the Facebook interface), but was disappointed to see he appears to have deleted my question. Your post has clarified things--they are the same thing. And I appreciate that you have given some ideas on how to use these, beyond just adding to my reading.

As always, well done. Cheers!

Re: As If Lives Depended On It

Barbara, thank you for pulling all the pieces together from a librarian's perspective. It is unfortunate you decide to waive that right by hiding behind anonymity.

I do hope some day you feel comfortable enough to express yourself without having to hide your name.

(You do know the NDP is a major party, don't you? I like that Marco has nothing to hide. At least we have a good idea of where he stands on certain subjects and (if we are in his riding) can listen to his podcast and decide for ourselves if we should vote for him. Whether I would vote for Marco or not, I would defend his right to his opinions. And I would hope Tim Hudak would do the same. Where does the Toronto Sun stand on free speech?

Re: Digesting PAB

More than any previous year, I have so many ideas now to sort through. I took more notes than usual in an attempt to lay it all out, in a year when I had planned to take no notes. What usually happens to me, despite the priority list, and focus on 2-3 things I *must* get done in the day, invariably something else comes in and takes urgent priority over those things, and they get pushed down the list, so it feels like I'm not progressing. I am always trying to figure out how to deal with that. Any tips in this regard are welcome.

Re: Easy YouTube Short Links

You are so awesome, Tod. But, it was not compelling enough to drive people back to it--a similar problem faced when starting a new wiki or new intranet. There has to be a real reason to go there.

As with a lot of these things, it is difficult to see the implications of something when it is new. Some of us might have the vision, and we need to help others see the possibilities. It was the same with Twitter--it sat in the early adopter realm for almost 3 years before the celebrities jumped in and brought it into the mainstream. It was certainly a strange, mystical thing when I started using it back in 2007, and there are still lots of people trying to figure out what it could possibly be for. Same with blogs, email and telephones before it.

Too bad they aren't sticking with it a bit longer....

Cheers,
Connie

Re: Nikon Just Let Me Use a New Camera

Whatever you and I think about it, Nikon's name got in front of my eyeballs, so their mission is accomplished regardless of whether I buy this camera or not.

Have fun at South by, Chris!

Re: Moving on, staying in touch, trying new things and other comforting phrases - rayanne langdon dotcom

Rayanne, I'm going to miss you!!!
