What we really need is certification or some type of industry designation as many still don't realize having a Twitter account or Facebook profile doesn't alone = social media expert. Would be like everyone with a bicycle around the world claiming to be professional cyclists all at once, rather absurd. In 2010 w/ launch of Twitter paid for business accounts we can be sure there will be a new spike of people changing their business cards again, this time proclaiming, "Twitter Business Expert." :)

Re: Pepsi to Skip Super Bowl Ads in Favor of $20M Social Media Campaign

$20 million only represents the money for grants and not the overall campaign budget itself.

Re: Pepsi to Skip Super Bowl Ads in Favor of $20M Social Media Campaign

Pepsi isn't completely skipping the Super Bowl. They are still running a commercial for their Doritos brand and spending money on-site at various events at the Super Bowl running promotion for the Pepsi Refresh Project. They are also increasing by 60% their online ad spending in 2010 which is huge for a big company to be shifting their ad budget to online in such a big stride. The $20 million total is only money set aside for the grants for the Pepsi Refresh Project but wouldn't be the total cost of the promotion itself and remains to be seen in their overall marketing/advertising budgets where this fits in. Since this is a cause related marketing effort combining social aspects of a micro-social network and perhaps utilizing social tools, it will be an interesting case study and showcase for how cause related marketing can benefit from social media. Taking money aside into a focused effort makes sense, especially as they spent $75 million in ads in 2008. I would expect more online advertising money will be changed to various types of online marketing initiatives each with their own flavors and uses of social tools and often time caused related efforts might be at the forefront in driving these efforts as so many micro-social campaigns that don't have this seem more likely to fall flat. Ultimately I don't think they are doing anything crazy or necessarily we are seeing anything that will be random as I fully expect this to be an increased trend by companies large and small. This is just the beginning and we still have a long way to go and lets hope out of the hype they can measure this properly going in so they can see the results.

Re: Death Proof (2007) - Movie Wallpaper

Brigitte Bardot from Roger Vadim's "Night Heaven Fell" aka "Les bijoutiers du clair de lune."

Re: CLIVE BARKER: Exclusive Interview Part Two at 42 Sitges Film Festival

Maya - Thanks for the feedback and obviously the Twitch team and you in particular were a great help in shaping my framework for interviewing. I think our approach is similar whereas so many outlets go after stock questions we go after the art of conversation to really try and dig into the film and people behind it and their stories. I'm armed with a Mini DV camera and an outdated video editing software package of iMovie, but I try and overcome these technical limitations as best I can. I'll probably post some of these video interviews up here versus just doing the YouTube compressed ones. And I should note still always a challenge to get in and get everything answered in 10 minute chunks but I'm at the point now where I don't care if its 3 minutes, I'll find a way to make it work. Working with adversity is a constant in the interview circuit and rolling with that I've found to be the one trait that sets us apart, as well as the obvious non-People Magazine-ish art of the conversation school of thinking in our approach.

Kelley - Mr. Barker is so passionate about great cinema and to interview him was amazing. While there is horror in his work at the heart of what he is about is being a great storyteller so I imagine all his work bears that shining footprint.

Re: Thunder and Lightning (1977) - Vintage Movie Wallpaper of the Day - Japanese Poster Celebration Month

Martin - Great link.

Readers of the site note that many there aren't safe for work, fyi.

Re: The Man from Hong Kong (1975) - Vintage Movie Wallpaper of the Day - Japanese Poster Celebration Month

Thanks for the kind comments Peter.

I'm hoping to finally watch the Reg. 3 of Man from Hong Kong this week.

Re: Mighty Mouse (1979) - Happy New Year!

Dshanya thanks for the comments and support. Love your work and hope we see some of it on Blu-ray soon! Though my greatest fondness is still seeing movies on film. Nothing like watching Coffy on the big screen with the projector burning with life beaming that cinema onto the screen through the dark.

Re: Me and Orson Welles (2009) - New Cinema Wallpaper of the Day - Richard Linklater

I believe we will see a limited release in December (New York & LA) then a wide release in January 2009.
