Great, exactly what I needed. I got this working with while tethering to my iPhone via USB and sharing its Internet connection via my Mac's wifi hah.

Just to clarify, the class name as root for JSON output wasn't removed, it just wasn't like this from the start

You're able to change that though, if you set ActiveRecord::Base.include_root_in_json = true.

I believe this will be default in Rails 3 (check the new_rails_defaults.rb initializer that a Rails 2.3-stable branch app will generate for you).

Actually the bloat is not so bad on Rails edge - Jeremy Kemper (bitsweat) has made commits to cherry-pick only the required extensions and libraries from ActiveSupport (http://github.com/rails/rai....

Similarlyk, you no longer have to do a big "require 'activesupport'" that requires the kitchen sink when you want just 1 little thing in ActiveSupport.

Yup this was rather important to me too when I switched to Feedburner. The FeedSmith plugin [http://blogs.feedburner.com...] for WordPress works really well for this.

I was going to use Keita-san's Xurrency gem, until I noticed Xurrency doesn't support certain currencies (like Indonesian Rupiah). Sigh.

I like this new design a lot better. It's clean and there's pink! Looking forward to interesting posts from you now that you have settled on a great blog design.

My only quibble is that your "banner" (the top left logo) is non-clickable.

Actually, your Firefox profile was not untouched - Firefox 3 uses it and checks it for compatibility (extensions, etc.). I'd done the same thing earlier and it didn't break my profile (so you and I are lucky :)), but some Lifehacker readers have had their profiles made incompatible after doing the tech-recipes thing.

I think you probably saw this on Lifehacker, but did you test it out? It certainly doesn't seem like it will work, since Firefox 3, started from anywhere and with any name (Firefox3.app, Firefox-whatever.app), will still use your current Firefox 2 profile unless started with the Profile Manager.

Even Lifehacker editors have bad days ;)

Actually what I meant was that mongrel is not quite Ruby 1.9 compatible yet - I believe there's still a good amount of work to be done due to some tricky threading issues.
