I need to add the hash tag so it can be found: "Kobe's in a zone right now #lakers". Unless the search engine is smart enough to make the connection for you, you need the hash tag to make the connection.

Re: http://blog.louisgray.com/2009/03/alltops-custom-pages-finally-tip-me-to.html

Sounds like Netvibes. It's great for watching, but not for interacting.

I couple years back I started looking for ways to share things online, and Tumblr felt like the best option. One problem: no commenting. It felt like an echo chamber. Between Tumblr, delicious, and the various other services I used, I felt that there had to be a better way to discuss these things with my friends without sending them an email or IM. I found disqus (which I still think is fantastic, wish more blogs used it) and added it to my Tumblr account, hoping it would generate some feedback (which it didn't). Then I discovered "lifestreaming", and shortly after that, FriendFeed launched. Halle-freaking-llujah, I could aggregate all my stuff in one place and better yet, people could comment! Granted, my friends haven't taken to the service yet (ironically, more of them have taken to Twitter), but I still think FriendFeed is the best place for interaction.

I still wish FriendFeed used disqus to power its comments though. Threaded conversations, and email notifications.

Re: Text or video, which is king? But when you search for a popular term such as "lakers", you don't expect the search engine to say "There were no relevant results." Which is what Cuil did, last night. Today its returning results, so perhaps I'll give it another chance.

Still, you can't blame people for coming to quick conclusions. As they say, the first impression is the most important one, and when you come out making big claims like Cuil, that impression better be a damn good one.

Re: Lamont can read

Or, just drive the speed limit.

Re: Lamont can read

I'll second that vote. Disqus just empowers my laziness. Whenever I leave a comment somewhere - which is rare - I always forget to check back for replies. I even forget where I've commented at. Disqus takes care of these things for me.

Re: Are You Really Using FriendFeed, or are You a Poser?

Somewhat unrelated, but as I was formulating a response to this post something else occurred to me: FriendFeed should forgo its commenting system and just implement Disqus. In fact, everyone should just use Disqus for comments. Maybe I should Twitter this. Or FriendFeed it. Or tumblr it.
