That someone would attack a political opponent in this day and age for not believing in an imaginary omniscient father figure just stuns me. Sadly, I kind of admired Don Harris for his eccentric but earnest work as a city councilor, but now I see that he's sort of a mean and deluded nut.

Serrano is totally insane -- he's making up all his stories about working for a huge union in Mexico or a company with 10,000 employees as he goes along. I hope he stays in the periphery of the race, though, as he makes for good entertainment.

Where were all these people back in 2001-2003 when we started pumping billions of taxpayer dollars into un-winnable resource wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? I get the feeling most of the teabaggers haven't a clue what they're talking about when they criticize emerging policies. They're just still sad about Palin/McCain and glad for the opportunity to dance in the streets with their racist buddies.

Furthermore... "God believes in a two-party system?" really?

And seriously -- Ron Paul? That crazy old young-earth creationist bigot? Get a friggin' grip.

My guess is he made that part up, but it would worry me if a real doctor said something like that and actually meant it. We may never know what's going on in Domenici's brain, but one thing we can count on is that it has nothing to do with magical miracles from from omnipotent beings responding to prayers.

That's a pretty good description, but think more Howard Hughes, less J. Jonah Jameson -- there's not much roaming around the offices. In fact, an actual sighting is a rare and thrilling thing indeed.

I think you're missing my point, Thomas - Rep. Alcee is from Florida. A simple google search indicates there is plenty of inane ranting and raving on Florida blogs and newspaper websites about what a clod he is.

I don't think anyone in Florida, however, cares about what a racist Fernando C de Baca is, because he's just an old and irrelevant small-time politician from New Mexico. In fact, I couldn't find any mention of Fernando C de Baca on any Florida newspaper sites or blogs.

Likewise, until this last couple of weeks, I had never heard of Alcee Hastings, either, and don't expect to read about him on a local website about local news. He appears to be an old, relatively unimportant politician, too, and I hope he, like C de Baca, is relegated soon to the dustbin of political history.

But coming to a website called New Mexico Independent and complaining because it didn't cover Florida politics enough for you is kind of like going to a tire store and getting pissed off because they don't sell aquariums.

All that said, while Hastings does appear to be a crook with an insatiable appetite for his own foot, he's probably right about Klondike Barbie. :)

Hmm - Marjorie is one of your wisest writers, and I'd love to see what she has to say about my sweeping generalizations on religious belief. But sadly, her comment, as well as mine and some others, have been sliced up by the new comment engine!
