They have since resolved that problem for me. I'm not sure if that's Twitter wide resolution.

As always, take these steps if you're comfortable with them. If you aren't, then don't. At the very least contact Twitter to alert them you've been hacked.

I'd follow the steps above to prevent the DMs from spreading to other users which creates a bigger problem.

-Chel

Re: Recovering from Twitter Phishing

Hey Allen!

Thanks for sharing it around. Then there's figuring out how that works.

Being a part of the social media community we're focused on being helpful and doing it in a way that is "fair" and perhaps better for community as a whole. SxSW isn't a "social media conference" and they play by different rules. Is it fair as a popularity contest? No. Should they change it? It depends on what their ultimate goals are and if those goals include catering to their community.

Re: Now a New York Times Bestseller

SWEET!

Congratulations to both of you!

Re: The #PCB4 Session That Shouldn’t Have Happened

I'm really glad you went through with it. :D It sounded like a lot of fun.

Re: Try less choice for a productivity boost

I never answer email on the go unless it's urgent, but I'm constantly culling what email comes in so there's less to deal with later.

Re: We can become the company we keep

This brings to mind the claim of Outliers. That we are limited to the successes that our "class" allows. You're correct the one of the things that is different now is the access we have to build our network to a much greater level. One true gift of social media has been opening doors of opportunity.

But more than opportunity we need to balance our desires, what we want to achieve, with the work to get us there. Teachers can teach us the basics but what I see far more often that I want lately are people who say "I want X's level of success. If I can just be like X I'll have the same luck in life".

We're all unique because of our history. The building blocks of who we are now defines us. Can we redefine ourselves? Yes. Can we be exactly like someone else? No. And who would want to.

One of the things my own past has taught me is earning success is easy with hard work and a strong desire to keep chipping away at the fears until we achieve our goals.

Re: Breaking the shackles on your potential at PodCamp Boston 4

You and your chel shirts. :)

Re: Breaking the shackles on your potential at PodCamp Boston 4

I've had a hard time knowing what to say to this one.

Im grateful to you and Mr. Brogan for giving me a shot, for trusting me with the reins.

I feel like some weight has been lifted, some unique thing inside me has shifted and made room for what is the next step in the next chapter.

You unlocked the doors ninja. I'll admit some curiosity to what the deal is, because as much as "men don't get it", I don't either.

If you don't say, "I don't care what anyone thinks, I can do this, I don't need permission", you'll never get past any limitations because you're putting those limitations on yourself.

All I've known for the past 3 1/2 years is you can do this, it's about working hard to get where you want to be and facing your fears, once you do that you won't be limited in any way. And that from a man who is my closest friend.

Stop talking about why you aren't succeeding and start working hard on what will help you climb that mountain or open that door.

Re: Why I Am Not Presenting at PodCamp Boston

You can register for PCB4 at http://podcampboston4.eventbrite.com.

Re: The Power of New

Congratulations and best of luck to you Jason!

Re: 5 tips for dominating local

Brownbook is a good suggestion, but even simple yellow pages websites will boost your rank in search engines.

Often times when businesses are first getting started on the web they don't come up anywhere but the yellow pages sites, by listing there until your website SEO outranks is a good way to get and stay visible.

I'd also recommend having customers leave comments and ratings on your Google Local Business search result, offering them a coupon/discount for doing so.

Re: Why do we do these things?

When I watch Super Bowl ads I watch them to see how good they are. To me good = entertaining, it's not a matter of good equals sales. (Although the companies that have the ads would probably disagree with that assessment.) I'm sure that a lot of other people watch for the same reason, entertainment, not advertising.

In the case of the street fair, on some level it's about the community coming together. Every year in my hometown they have a 4th of July picnic, full fair style (rides, food, music, etc). It's loud, hot and the tickets for rides are outrageous. But it's where the community celebrates every year. In some cases, it's where people see friends that they don't get to see very often. Not every street fair has this type of community involvement, but I can think of three in the cities I've lived in that do.

As Ann mentions, giving us the opportunity to talk about the ads around the watercooler the next morning are about community and sharing an experience with others.

As far as the barkers go, personally I dislike amusement parks. There's no engagement.

Re: Colorado Leeds School of Business Application

CU Admissions,

You cannot find a better candidate for your program than Andrew. It's not a matter of should they but can they do so.

I don't believe that we should randomly forgive student loans. That's not what Chris proposed. What he is proposing I agree with but agree further with your conclusion in the thread above. THAT is a workable solution that doesn't take money without giving it back.

The confusion is a result of me talking about two different things, student loans and the market as it stands and it's effects. I'm sorry for not making it abundantly clear that I was speaking about both students repaying their loans and unemployment of everyone, as well as money, it's value and current trust levels.

There are so many things at play here, so many pieces of the puzzle.

I do want to drive home the point that money has value sure, it has less value right now because trust has been ditched. What's going on now is an attempt to find a solution to fix both. Unless all the wheels start turning again we're going to keep heading down the crash and burn path where it won't matter what the dollar was worth but what currency we'll trust next.

FWIW, I'm writing this in the dark right before bed, but I wanted to send you a response tonight.

Re: A different stimulus idea that might work

Scott, I'm not saying they shouldn't repay what they owe the government. In fact, I didn't say that.

I did ask HOW they are expected to when we're tanking jobs day after day in the thousands. If you want to delay, sure, that's reasonable. Let's talk about what's going to start happening soon.

What happens when a family runs out of unemployment benefits because the providers can't find jobs because there are no jobs? A few weeks ago a man killed himself and his family. Right or wrong, he did that because he looked a future and saw nothing hopeful about the situation he was in.

That is the reality that we're facing right now. There isn't enough to go around. Even if people aren't killing themselves left and right, they won't have food or heat or electricity if they can't find a job. Which is again, becoming even harder by the day.

You have to make the economy's wheels turn, they are stuck in mud right now. Your money? It's going to banks exec who want their comfy little vacations and bonuses. Does that really make you feel better? If so, more power to you for being angry at the people who need to feed themselves.

The fact still remains that unless something rational is done with the stimulus that the government is going to take out of our pockets like it or not, then we're going to continue down the path we're currently on.

It won't matter if your money is blown, it won't have any value anymore. Then you face the question of how can you repay something when you can't determine the value? So the point will be moot.

So please, tell me what it is that is a better idea. Because G*d knows we need them.
