I agree Lawrence, I just like to poke fun at M$, lol. But yeah, they're not going anywhere, and at the end of the day, they still treat developers fairly well, in light of their sub-par infrastructure.

Ideas are a dime a dozen. Just go on Techcrunch and choose any article. Given a 12 month period, you have a fairly equal chance of competing head on with that company. I think the real problem is #4, execution is really really really f-ing hard. haha

I'm one of the founders at PlayMesh. We are experiencing an explosive amount of users right now and our servers are being hammered pretty badly so you might get an "Unable to Connect" error. We are working hard trying to solve the problem and scale out.

Yeah I definitely agree that there are a lot of wasted CPU cycles out there. I think Folding@Home does some cool stuff to utilize this power, but there should be ways to leverage this effect even more.

One interesting, albeit, kind of ridiculous, startup idea I read about a couple months ago was a startup that leverages Flash to do distributed computing when users play their games or watch their videos. Stuff like this is pretty exciting and interesting, there will definitely someone with a smart idea to start a killer business idea around this in the next couple of years.

Hey Theresa,

I am one of those that shot you one a "fan" mail, but I couldn't help but comment on this post. I went through the exact same phase in college (still in that phase, actually). It's a lot more fun to think about entrepreneurial endeavors and going back to studying for school kind of sucks.

But what I've realized in my final year of college is that these do not necessarily need to be mutually exclusive. At least for engineers at UCLA, we get a little bit of leeway to structure our schedule to take advantage of our business classes, I think that would be really interesting for you (from what very little I have deduced).
