I was resistant to blogging, private and a little insecure, now love the platform it offers so many people. Way to go Chantal!

Re: What have you done recently to make yourself feel proud?

I'm proud that I finally started my own blog and staying open to the possibilities of having one. I'm very private. I prefer to stay in the background but the blog pushes me just a little bit more every week.

Re: What are you sensitive to?

Been there too!

Re: What are you sensitive to?

Sensitive to pretty much everything - empathic. And that the beginning of your 'new year' is an opportunity to set some intentions and set the tone for the year to come. So friends, chocolate, reflection, dancing - always a good to weave into your b'day!

Re: On your birthday, how do you like to be cherished?

I believe your birthday is your personal New Year. Whatever you do on your birthday represents things that will happen in the next year. So, I make sure I do a little bit of everything; celebrate, eat my favorite foods, paint, give presents to my friends (a tradition), dance and love.

Re: What’s your favorite kitchen gadget?

My grandmother's mortar & pestle. Great for grinding fresh herbs and spices. And it's well seasoned too.
Another one is this contraption I bought in Bali a few years ago at the outdoor market. It's really a hand grater but made of simple wood and nails. Yes, tiny little nails that have been hammered into it. It's the best grater I've used (but maybe not too health conscious). So, mostly it sits but I still love it. It's so unique.

Re: What four words describe you?

Authentic. Never really taken a dance class before. This will be my form of yoga. She raised me, became my rock and taught me her ancient wisdom. During the end of her life it became my turn to take care of her. I am so very grateful to have had the opportunity to experience death first hand. I always imagined it to be like some horror film but it was very beautiful and peaceful. She is still very much alive because she is inside of me, a part of me that will never die. And she visits in my dreams.

Re: What is your favorite cultural activity that doesn’t cost money?

I dream of those days....and Tent Rocks.

Re: What is your favorite cultural activity that doesn’t cost money?

Canyon Road art gallery openings on Friday nights in Santa Fe .

Going to the Indian Pueblos and watching the ancient rain/hunting/war dances they have been doing for hundreds of years. Then stroll the tiny European-style streets of the Plaza and absorb all the culture, art, intensity and beauty this town has to offer.
This gives me renewed inspiration and insights which I then will throw into the mix of painting on Sunday.

Re: How do you define your self worth?

Not sure I think in terms of self worth.
