If we choose to make our political views public and we choose to become a pundit, then our personal lives are wide open.
Especially, if we try to make a profit from those we openly disdain.
Some may hide their hatred to collect a paycheck, but I believe that those people writing the check deserve to know your disdain for their lifestyle and beliefs.

We all make choices in life, and for some ideology is more important than other considerations.
This is a free country.
For the most part, our opinions are ignored or we pay for those opinions.
There is no free lunch, especially if you do not have tenure.

Ungodly amounts of pork,
lobbying to give (future convicted felons) high paying government jobs.
Jobs from which those felons can further enrich themselves and screw over the taxpayers.
Sorry, I thought you were talking about Obama's patriarch - Rezko.
I wonder if Obama will visit him in prison.

The political calculation of the past was to never pick a VP that may overshadow the top of the ticket. Time will tell if going against convention pays off.

I would say that the Republicans might make the same mistake, but I could also imagine McCain going completely insane on those that disrespected the flag.
So I would imagine the RNC this year has properly disposed of American Flags.
2000 -2004, not so sure.

As a person in his thirties with two kids, there is no policy that I find more abhorrent than Obama's no income taxes for seniors making less the $50,000 a year.
First off, this is not partisan and anyone who considers themselves Progressive needs to realize that the people in question hold the majority of the wealth in this country.

Let us put this another way, Paul Krugman states that this might be the first generation that has a lower standard of living than the preceding generation.
How does this policy not exacerbate that problem?

We can agree or disagree as to whether Social Security is solvent, but even Krugman states that money will need to come from the General Revenue fund to shore up Social Security.
Who is going to pay those taxes – not seniors apparently?

I am all for helping seniors and this policy would in fact benefit my mother, but she owns her home outright and receives several other benefits because of her age. I love my mother. I was raised by her alone, but even she agrees that we are putting too much of a burden on the next generation.

Voting third party would not be so inconsequential if the two major parties didn't do their damndest to keep out third parties.

However, it would be nice to see some opinions not held hostage by the DEM/REP talking points.

Sorry to go off topic, but I just want to comment on that add above with Hugh Downs.
Are the rest of you seeing that add?
What has happened to Hugh Downs?
I only comment because I was flabbergasted to see him on an infomercial shilling for the same "miracle cure" in the add above.
He is also associated with another company ripping off non-profits:

The guy has been on TV almost since its invention.
Did he not save a dime?
Does he really value his reputation that little?

However, I would like to point out that the article states that Matanuska-Susitna is the meth capital of Alaska.
Matanuska-Susitna is a borough of 30 cities in an area of 25,260 square miles.
For a little perspective, there were 51 total drug arrests in Wasilla in 2003.
49 in 2004
39 in 2005
The average annual drug arrests between 1994 and 2005 is about 44.

I understand your criticism, however; we are a bit more than 24 hrs. past her nomination.
She is new to the national scene and I am sure she will make some gaffes that you can hark upon.
You have more than 60 days left to criticize her statements. Just wait, I am sure she will make a mistake.
I also understand getting out ahead of the game, but you guys are getting a bit ridiculous
I have seen numerous surrogates on television state that she was the mayor of a small town less than two years ago. Really?
I understand the need to define the candidate, but there are so many factual mistakes floating around that I find the effort a bit disorganized. What exactly will people think when they find those early representations to be false. The MSM will tell her story and it will not fit those misrepresentations.
In my opinion, you guys should have taken the weekend and come up with a more cohesive argument.
I do believe that the actual Obama campaign is doing that, but the surrogates are stating all kinds of B.S.
She was nominated on Friday – you could have come back Monday with a unified argument.
This is opening week of college football – a lot of people are not paying attention to the news right now.

Why don't you at least give her until Monday to voice her opinion on the state of healthcare in the United States? Perhaps you should wait until her scheduled speech.
No, she has never voiced a VISION for the United State because she was only the Governor of Alaska until yesterday.
She has a scheduled speech coming next week.
Can you at least wait that long – a few days?
Is this really your criticism?
I am not running for anything, but even I have a VISION for America - I am sure you do as well.
I am sure the Governor will enlighten you as to her VISION for America at the predetermined time.
In the meantime, I suggest you watch UF completely embarrass Hawaii.

Steve, I don't know how that is relevant to this discussion.
However, I will say this about the Governor:
She holds a lot of positions that don’t exactly fit with McCain or the RNC.
If Democrats really want to attack her, they should highlight those differences.
Increasing taxes on the oil companies – how did the Obama administration miss that?
The Republican base is excited by her selection; perhaps that excitement could be tempered by highlighting the issues in which she agrees with Democrats.
There is some meat there if you really want to do some research – Republican corruption – she highlights it. Her fighting Republican corruption, that is.
Don’t attack her – she is a pretty compelling figure.
Say – We are pleased that Governor Palin has chosen the side of the people in taking on the Big Oil Companies and Republican corruption. We just believe that she would be better served representing the true Party of the People, the Democratic Party. In our Party, she will find others dedicated to fighting the political influence of Big Money Lobbyists and Big Business.

That is also why the Governor and Legislature decided to increase taxes on the oil companies to provide even bigger checks to the people.

No, that is impossible.
However, you know that windfall profits tax that Democrats support.
Republicans in Congress oppose it, but the Governor and Legislature of Alaska actually put it into effect.

In your opinion, a Governor should not represent the interests of her constituents.
75% of the people in Alaska support drilling in ANWR.
You can disagree with the people of Alaska all you want, but I believe any rational person would agree that is the job of elected representatives to speak for the electorate.
She may have a different perspective as a VP nominee, but she was speaking as the Governor of Alaska in the referenced article.
It may surprise you, but certain people in this country may not always agree with you.
However, they are citizens of the United States and have the same right to elect representatives to speak for them as you do.
