in Are You Over Using NoFollow? on Todds Tips
That's cool Todd, every blogger has the right to run his blog anyway they choose. I've no problem with that. Seeing as how I don't care about PR, I'm not worried about linking any juice. Any comment that I think is worthy, and I admit sometimes it's hard to decide, stays and all others get deleted.

in Are You Over Using NoFollow? on Todds Tips
I'm certainly no Donk, and unless requested I never use nofollow links. I'm one of those bloggers that chooses to reciprocate all comments and I'm always surprised at the amount of people who love getting the dofollow juice from my blog but don't like to pass the juice from their own. It's a bit like taking a cup of coffee when visiting me and then expecting me to pay for my own when visiting them.
If you like a post enough that you link to it, why diminish it's value by making it nofollow? That is just crazy.

I've found placement to be the ultimate as far as increased earnings go. Put the ads in a prominent position of your blogs and your post. The color of the ad is also important as you don't want it to stand out too much. It's always a good idea to try different things to see what works best.
Say Peter, I don't know what happened but I've lost all the data on Cool Blog Links. If it's not too much of a hassle it would be nice if you added your blog again. Thanks mate.

The trouble is that because of all the media hype this lame story has received we can be assured that a lot more of this crap will show up. I am really disappointed with ACA, and as far as I am concerned their media coverage lately can be likened to the shit the tabloids come up with.

It's not just getting customers, it's also about keeping them, or making sure that their shopping experience is so great that they will come back again. I've found that if your customer service is excellent, many people are quite willing to pay that little bit extra.

Hi Sire,
You are right, keeping your existing clients is one thing to be prioritized also. Those clients are your valued clients. It's a long-term relationship. Meaning, the excellent treatment to our clients should be constant whether they are new or old.
Thank you for your additional insight.

In regards to spam, unless you follow a spammer this is not an option. I think that a lot of people are under the impression that this plugin will open up the floodgates of unnecessary DM's. Not so. Let's say the Lin followed Todd and Todd followed Lin, you would only get DM'd when either one of you did a post. It has nothing to do with any of the other people on Twitter that you are already following, even if they have the plugin, as you have not subscribed to their blog.

It's all good mate ... if this plugin works for you, cool beans.
To me, it just seems like overkill. Like I said, I already have plenty of ways to follow blogs that I like. I'd rather use twitter for "tweeting" :-)

Sure, I understand your view, but it can be configured so that you don't get the email, just the DM, and if you only keep track of, say your 10 favorite bloggers, I don't see it creating such a hassle, especially when you see some twitterers following thousands of people.

I suppose one advantage is that you can be the first to leave a comment which has it's advantages. I subscribe to feeds but unless I have my reader running, which I rarely do, I seldom check the feeds. Too lazy I reckon, so for me this is ideal.

Hey Sire,
Yea, that must be the difference. The two websites I have open pretty much constantly are Gmail and Google Reader.
When it comes to twitter, I'm against just about anything that's automated ... especially as it relates to promotion ... way to ripe for abuse.

Hey Todd, that ping optimizer looks really good, I didn't know I was doing that with every draft save.
I actually have another plugin that you may be interested in, just follow the link that commentluv will leave. Basically it allows it's members to keep track of updates of those blogs they decide to follow so that every time they publish a post it sends out a DM via twitter. Now if they are also subscribed to your blog they will also be DM'd when you publish a post. You don't even have to be following them on Twitter for this to work.
So, essentially you may have 10,000 twitter followers, but have only subscribed to your 10 most favorite blogs, so every time these 10 bloggers publish a post, you will be DM's via twitter and also via email if you so choose.

I read about that plugin on your site. Sorry, doesn't sound like my kind of thing. If I want to keep up with a blog, I just subscribe to their feed. Why would I want to get More twitter DMs?

in 3 Reasons Why Failure Is Good on Todds Tips
Failure is definitely the best way to learn. Sometimes even though you may succeed at something it may not necessarily be your best work. Perhaps having failed the next attempt may provide a better result. I know many people who consider a successful project a failure because it wasn't good enough and so they go at it again to achieve their version of perfection.
In business though failure can be expensive and so it is necessary to do your homework, research every aspect possible of the business you are attempting so as not to fail, or at least minimize the failure.

in Time To Stop Spending Money Start Earning Income on Todds Tips
Hi Todd, I've always said that one of the ways to make money is to actually save it. Too many people spend everything they make as soon as it's in their pocket. This has resulted in a lot of people hurting because of the current economic crisis. My parents have always taught me to save, to only buy things that are necessary and it has helped me in times of need.
As for your tools, I wouldn't consider it a waste as it is a business expense and the right tools make a job so much easier, but you can have too many.
BTW, check out the link in my url, this is to show that what I wrote in my post can be done, you just have to be quick off the mark.

Hi Sire,
Ahhh, ok now I see what you were on about with the commentluv ... very cool.
As far as the tools go, yea, I'm not stressed at all ... most everything I bought has been worthwhile ... one or two "turkeys" in there, but you can't win em all.
I basically just decided I have "enough" tools ... no reason to even look at any more for at least a little while.
lol, hmmm, guess that makes me pretty useless traffic on my friend's blogs for the time being ... would be pretty hard to "monetize me" right now. :-)

I'm a member of several social sites such as FaceBook, Myspace, Friendfeed and Twitter but I don't have them on in the background because I find it too distracting. The worst thing a person can do is to take another persons criticism to heart. the main reason for this is that not every comment one person makes about another is for their benefit. Sometimes it could be made out of jealousy, cruelty, self gratification or whatever. What is important it a persons own self worth.

The thing is that Twitter can also give you a headache if you are following a lot of people. I've found TweeetDeck and essential tool in blogging out the useless tweets so that you only concentrate on the ones you are interested in.

Without a word of a doubt that was a good post. In regards to Disqus, does it require any manipulation of the Theme, because I remember installing something similar and it played havoc with my comment.php?
Another tip when leaving a comment on a high profile blog. Don't be scared to be the first one to leave a comment because being first, providing you leave a good comment, will provide you more potential visitors than commenting at any other time.
Oh, before I leave, thanks for the link love. :)

in Top 7 Tips To Free Affiliate Programs Success on Work From Home Business Blog
A very informative list Peter, especially about being up front about the affiliates you are promotion. I must say that the most success I have had is when promoting affiliates that I have actually bought and tried. This is because it make you more passionate about the product you are selling and it shows in your post. Also if people know that you have personally tried something and give it the thumbs up, then they are more likely to follow your example.

Yeah, I reckon I push the importance of commenting quite a bit on my blog, but that is only because I believe it to be so important. And it's not just the commenting, it's the quality of the comments that count.
As for the upcoming link love, thanks a whole heap. I found your blog through Andrea Hills blog, and that just goes to show the power of commenting. As soon as I;m done posting this I'm subscribing to your blog so that I can keep tabs on you. Talking about subscribing, have you ever thought of adding a 'subscribe to comments' plugin?

How about becoming friends with a power user? You know, the old adage of it's not what you know but who you know. Naturally you still have to have all the other qualities necessary, but it would certainly be able to boost your PR with others.

Sire,
Becoming friends with power users is a GREAT strategy to get
recognized. If you just spend time supporting or or two power users
and helping them out, it can go a long, long way.
I'm now writing a post about how build relationships through comments
- which it looks like you more than completely understand on http://wassupblog.com/
I will be linking to your post about reciprocal commenting tomorrow!

That's an interesting perspective. Personally it's exactly those kind of people (the takers) who pushed me towards just getting the comments off my blog altogether ... and yes, leaving the links "nofollow".
In theory, I definitely enjoy "helping people" ... but when it comes to link love, it just seems much more productive if I get to decide personally who I want to link to (such as the google reader links in my sidebar) rather than having to "interpret the motives" of people who leave comments on my posts.
