This would have been so much better if the Metrocard had been a Metroid, as I had thought it said on first glance.

I forget if it was him or Paul Thomas Anderson who once said that his screenplays would never have sold if he hadn't been willing to direct them himself, though I think such a sentiment applies well to both of them. One of his big appeals is that he makes these big, overdone, messy films, that by no means should work, and yet somehow he makes them magical. It's only natural that his scripts would be the same way, giving people headaches at the same time they're rushing to finish them.

While I love silent movies and all, it's not exactly like his movies in the sound era weren't leaps and bounds better than the silent films he made. He made like one really good silent movie (The Lodger) as opposed to how many classic sound films?

I loved this movie, though I do agree that there were points where it was a bit hard to understand what they were singing. Still, the beachfront fantasy = pure-spun gold.

Yeah, it was a fun bit of fluff, made all the better by how I got to see it for free (there was a free ticket to see it in theaters that came with Live Free or Die Hard). For what little the statement is worth, it's my second favorite video game movie, my favorite being, which surprises even me, Silent Hill.

I haven't seen the film, but I did read the comic, and it was just dreadful. Such a waste of a good idea.

Not quite the same level as the Shining trailer, but still nice.

Yeah, so about half the length of time J.Lo was in the film. Fits perfectly, really.

Well, in fairness, I think Will Smith must have cost at least as much as she did. He normally commands a higher salary than her and he wasn't even romantically involved with the lead actor at the time to drive down his price.

I love both pure entertainment and pure art films, though obviously there are a lot more good entertainment films out there, simply because they're the ones that sell.

J-Lo was definitely part of the reason the film flopped, but I have to assume that the main problem was nothing more than how Smith had made five consecutive films that were all stylistically similar and had the same general tone and sense of humor, and then tried to make a film that was completely different. In any industry, when you spend that much time training your fans to expect one type of entertainment, and then throw something new at them, they will rebel against it. I don't care how incredible you are at writing murder mysteries, the fans won't allow you to make the Sex & the City movie into one.

I thought this was really one of his better films. It may not be the funniest, but it's certainly his best directed film yet. It doesn't surprise me that most of his fans ignored it, since it was so different from his other work, but it does annoy me.

I was quite let down by this movie, I have to say. Perhaps it had just been built up too much by people that watch all the more trendy horror movies, but I really didn't get what the big deal was at all. I couldn't love it for the violence, since there really wasn't that much (and I don't just say that as a horror junkie; Reservoir Dogs was probably a good deal bloodier), and I couldn't really love it for the plot either, since there were so many holes in it. I did at least like Cary Elwes, but I always love him in movies so that really doesn't count.

It couldn't have been from when I was with Curtis, because I was showing off my legs to you at your house when I first arrived, and there was nary a bite to be found on them then. Central Park is just my best guess at the moment, though as this isn't the first time they've all decided to make me their playmate I think the species as a whole must just love me a lot more than it really should.

It was great seeing her (and even moreso seeing Spirit If... in action) Wednesday, even if I did pick up parasites in Central Park. I'll be looking forward to seeing the pictures from the show.

Poor Big Bang Love gets no respect at all :( By the way, I just got to see Zebraman (by the same director, and which was also playing at the film festival) and it was awesome. If I'm ever allowed at your house again, I'm totally bringing it.
