in Mobile Websites Suck on GDGTGRL
Your LifeDrive web browser likely exhibits a user agent header that tells websites that it is a mobile device. Thus you will get the 'lite' version of the content.

Ouch.. I'm sorry.. My reply was not meant to be mean-spirited, smug or arrogant. I wish you the best of luck; where ever you decide to go..

I'll be so glad when you finally figure out where you want to be in life ;) Understand your problem is not unique, be encouraged that you still have time to discover. I don't believe NY is your issue. Nonetheless, my strength goes with you.

I'll be so glad when you stop assuming that you know me better than I do when you get but a miniscule glimpse of who I am. :) Thats arrogance of the highest order.

in A question that came up this weekend… on EricaJoy
Well, you can _actually_ get paid to write FOSS applications. Not a violation of the GPL (but you already knew that) :)
If I were a code slinger the following projects would be on my short list: amaroK, Slackware, Debian, CUPS
amaroK is an excellent juke box and podcatcher, use it exclusively (better than iTunes, yeah I said it.)
Slackware - My workstation distribution since day zero (well since 96')
Slackbuilds - Great repository of slackware package install scripts that work very well.
Debian - The distribution which spawned many other commercial Linux distros (specifically would work on package manager).
CUPS - It still needs a great deal of work.. Since Apple acquired I dunno what the future holds..
As an aside - contributing code is just one of the many ways to support a FOSS project. Documentation, monetary contributions, evangelising (read Netcasting, etc), submitting bugs.

Interesting entry. I concur and shared thoughts similar here. Heh, FBOOK is not the only guilty party ;)
GOOG, Flickr and any other company which provides <abbr title="Software as a Service">SaaS</abbr> also will give you a virtual sandlot in which to play, in exchange for certain bonuses which usually end up on their ledger not your own. It's very easy for any of these companies to do so, b/c you told them that they could.. Hence, they are in their right (per their business model & some cases GPL v2) to data mine every aspect of your life. Scary is it not? Glad your vision is not blurred.

in It’s not you, it’s me: Back to WordPress on EricaJoy
I was wondering when you'd finally stop using inferior blogging tools ;) You spend more time trying to create useful add-ons than publishing content.
Seriously, the natural progression is typically: Blogger -> MT -> WP. Although, LiveJournal is crawled by bots, I still consider it a walled garden, so I don't really count it. I don't forsee taking the WP plunge, I'm quite pleased with MT, especially the latest upgrade that is MT 4.0.
Regarding the iCuffs err, I mean iPhone, please don't get me started. You already know where I stand, I won't rehash it. I discussed my viewpoint in detail here.

in iPhone Is Closed. Good for Users on Fred Brunel
I've never much cared for the one-size fits all concept. I suppose I'm part of the 4% that you mentioned. Perhaps if given the choice, you'd find that people really do like to have control over their devices. Methinks that Apple products will always be niche, due to these problematic design philosophies.
What is interesting tho, Apple has borrowed KHTML (rendering engine from Konqueror), and FreeBSD (framework for Darwin), but they insist upon closing their architecture and not allowing developers to be creative on their hardware platforms. Have you ever thought what Apple's desktop market share would be if they had not killed Power Computing?
Lastly, I'd put my Treo650 up against the iPhone any day ;)

I'm not at all interested in IE 7.0 aka known as Firefox 0.9 redux. As some others have already noted, these now ubiquitous features were long overdue. Methinks it took the upswell of the Mozilla Project to antagonize the Redmond wooly mammoth ;)

I too love hip-hop, but I don't believe there are enough positive images that could help inform our black youth about their culture. You mentioned KRS-1 and the 'edutainment' and H.E.A.L movement, I certainly agree that this had a profound affect on me too. However, I look at the industry as whole, and there aren't enough positive cats getting consistent airplay. If it weren't for Mos Def, Kweli and Common, there really wouldn't be much 'commercial' conscience hip-hop on the airwaves.
I'm not certain that your children have the same glorious, conscious, afro-centric hip-hop that _we_ got as youth in the 80's.
To your point, I believe, you're going to have to be the one to enlighten them.
