Adobe has a vested interest in its web technologies (much like Google). If Google Chrome succeeds, it might be enough to convince Adobe to roll their own. You might try to do a manual upgrade to see if that won't resolve your issue.

Re: WordPress Attack Underway: WordPress Users Must Upgrade

Automatic upgrade was introduced in Wordpress 2.7. Once you get upgraded to the latest version you should be able to use Automatic Upgrades without a problem. That is, of course, assuming your host is configured to allow you to do it. Regardless, following the instructions NativeMoon posted, you shouldn't have any problems upgrading manually.

Re: WordPress Attack Underway: WordPress Users Must Upgrade

Andrea, if you're modifying core, you're doing it wrong. If you're working with developers that insist on modifying Wordpress core code, I'd stop working with them ASAP. Pretty much everything you might want to do to modify Wordpress can be done via plugins, a functions.php file specific to the theme, or through options that Wordpress' many functions support.

Re: Discipline

You're welcome. The problem with Intelligent Design vs. Evolution is that no one wants to be wrong.

Maybe I'm alone in this, but couldn't it be possible that evolution is one of God's plans? Isn't it possible that God made all living things and embedded in them the ability to adapt themselves to their environments, if needed? Or does that idea suggest that by nature correcting itself, proves God wrong?

Anyways, having this choice to consider creates another problem: if these ideas are to be taught in school, what else will have to be considered? For instance, should school children be taught what Scientologists believe? Where does one draw the line?

Re: Wrong Movie

I have not played it yet... The only reason I don't use it that on some of the sites I frequently visit, the only way those people pay for their sites is by the advertising. Yes, I find most of the ads annoying, but I find that ignoring them is more effective - to me - then not displaying them at all. (I realize I can turn it on/off selectively, but it's not a huge deal for me to just ignore the ads.)

I'm checking out the other add-ons you mentioned. GridFox seems cool. I've used YSlow in the past, but the found that its' benchmarking really only applies to Yahoo!

Re: Firefox 3 add-ons I can’t live without.

You're right, the Web Developer add-on/toolbar does have a ruler, but unless you keep it open all the time, you have to 1) display the toolbar, 2) click Miscellaneous, 3) click Display ruler. With MeasureIt, it stays tucked on the status bar, and activating it is as simple as double-clicking on the icon :) The Web Developer add-on is far more powerful, but I only use it/enable it when I need it.

Re: Why I Still Won’t be Getting an iPhone

1. In the UK, that might hold true... in the US, as far as I can tell, if you want 3G you'll have to upgrade your data plan and sign a new 2-year contract. (http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/iphone-faqs.j...) According to a few things I've heard, there may be some sort of fee associated with breaking an existing contract, but I have yet to be able to confirm this anywhere on AT&T's website.
2. The point which I had hope to make here is that for most people 3G isn't going to make much of a difference for them. Yes, 3G is faster. But the first-gen iPhone is probably fast enough for most people and when it's not there's always wi-fi. 3G is something the phone should have had from the beginning. Now it's a new "feature".
3. I might be wrong, but considering all *legitimate* apps have to go through Apple's app store... I'm not sure AT&T (in the US) will let them sell a VOIP app. Perhaps this will not be the case overseas.
4. No doubt. I'm especially anxious to see what Brightkite.com will be doing with it in regards to their location-based social network.
5. "Better" is pretty subjective. Obviously, lots of folks love their Crackberries. They've got something like a 44% market share. My wife has a Blackberry Pearl that she uses for work and I just don't get it. To me it's hard to use, but people love the things.

Don't get me wrong... I don't hate the iPhone. I love my iPod touch and have used several iPhone since their release. It's a great device and I can understand why it's as popular as it is. I just don't think the iPhone 3G is different enough from the first-gen iPod to convince me to go out an buy it.

Re: No Photoshop vs. Photoshop

For me, it's easier just to do it in Photoshop simply because if/when I'm ready to build the design out, I can easily isolate and then slice up the different elements that I'll then use in the build-out.

Building sites in Illustrator seems foreign to me. I have no problem using it for logo design or illustrations... but seeing as Photoshop supports Smart Objects and vector shapes and whatnot... I tend to do most of my design work there.

To each his own though, right? :)

Re: Disqus integration

I just posted a new question here: http://getsatisfaction.com/disqus/topics/will_t...

No Disqus employees are on GetSatisfaction yet, but hopefully that'll change...

Re: Disqus integration

Agreed!

Re: Disqus integration

Yeah, sorry, my previous comment made little sense. Simply put, it's too much machine for her. It's a little on the large size (weight + size). She originally purchased it for the larger screen, hoping that she'd be able to see it better/use it without having to put glasses on. But I don't think she took into consideration the bulk that a 17" laptop would have.

Re: Dell Inspiron 1720 for Sale

A few addendums: Cash preferred.
