Some of them are shocking. I've been to one in Portugal (Sintra) and it wasn't anything special. Used to live in one as well (Liverpool). I see the WH judges didn't visit the city at 11pm Saturday night!

Funny, had an arguement about it with my mum. Her arguement was blaming everybody - the microchip, immigrants, the unemployed for her being so stressed. Fact is, if she didn't like it why doesn't she leave her job.

It's fear of the unknown, people are happy with their status quo without wanting to improve her life. Technology for most people (hell, all of us) is used as a way to improve everybody's quality of living (be it using an ATM or self service checkout to give yourself more time).

To answer your questions - she did it because it was something that she didn't understand, or was losing out in (you were going ahead of her in the queue, hence she piped up), hence the reason to defend her way of thinking. I'm sure in business most are the same, but the truly successful businesses are ones open to new ways of thinking.

- Should blogs be all business ONLY?

God no, and here's a little story.

A few weeks ago, they asked the Prime Minister in the UK "What's the first thing he thinks about in the morning?". He answered "The Economy, and how to improve the credit crunch". Our glorious PM got ridiculed for it, as, lets be honest, it's not the first thing any of us think of. It's more of a "I hope I don't get into work today", "I could murder a coffee/wee", "Damn I'm hungover" or, if you're like me, "Who's this cute chick I've woken up next to...again!" ;). The same is with blogging. Why are bloggers to show that they're not human? Because it's a sign of weakness? Trust me, I connect more with a blog like this when you complain that you have a Tequila induced hangover, rather than how much you've made.

Is not one of the attractions of blogging –> getting inside the mind of the blogger?

Most definitely! It's ace building up such a rapport with a blogger.

What do you look for in a blog and what brings you back… what gets you hooked?

Quality content defintely. However, "quality content" can mean a number of things. The last blog I subscribed too was because I fancied the blogger in question and she kept putting up pictures of herself in bikinis.

I use google analytics to track how many people click on my subscribe to link. That way I know that I'm getting subscribers, rather than search engines etc etc picking up on my RSS feed.

@Startblogging: Yeah, I tried to upload a picture. Basically I have a websites (such as My Brand New Brand) and blogs (such as gospelrhys.co.uk) folders, then within the blogs folder I have blogs with simply the theme, and the config file. Then there's the wordpress folder with the latest version of it, and a wp-plugins folder.

@PJ I'd go with a system that you are comfortable with. I'm only offering a suggestion. You're more oragnised than most though :)

Should be interesting to see if you actually have any success from it. There's no harm in trying though - particularly if you moved to Wordpress from Blogger.

I dunno, I'd have been tempted, but probably have said no.
