in Time for marketing on Jim's Marketing Blog
From your post I would gather that timing is mostly about increasing the probability of an announcement being read. I'm wondering if timing also applies more specifically to considering the audience and the right time in their life to receive the message. I'm not referring to just receiving it in their in box but being open-minded enough to really "hear" the message. You've got me thinking, thanks.

Hi Maya,
I always enjoy reading your posts. You do a wonderful job of sharing your experiences and making your point with them. I especially endorse this wisdom, "all the ditches have a little staircase leading back up."

in Marketing in a recession on Jim's Marketing Blog
Agreed. Opportunities often increase in times of economic distress. It's all how you look at it. Most often when I tell folks that I had my best fourth quarter in five years - they are shocked. Why do positive exceptions shock folks?

in A Simple Happiness Equation: A Picture on The Thinkmaya Blog
I'm a big fan of Venn diagrams as well. Thomas Leonard used to have an entire website dedicated to them Unfortunately it came down when he passed on. I find myself intrigued by the dual overlaps you didn't label. Like the intersection between money and relationships for example. Not necessarily all peace and puppy dogs in that one. Thanks for the stimulation and happy holidays.

I agree some of the first scenes were excellent. Love this movie too. It could be one of the best ever. I'll put it in my right up there with Rudy.

Certainly my favorite movie of all time. Rudy is a good one but wouldn't put it in my top five.

in The Business Idea: MemeTales: Democratize the creation of children’s books on The Geekdance Blog
Maya, it's great to see you rolling and I do love the idea of you handling the marketing for the writers and the artists. That idea is definitely a win-win. I also like the idea of giving the option for a hardcover as well. The price that on demand publishers are charging for really low quantities has drastically dropped lately. With your volume you may be able to get a great deal from them. To me that the whole key to your success will be really getting the volume up there. I think the idea is more than sound enough to take off.

This was an interesting walk down memory lane for me. My happiness qualities are: pioneering, creativity and flow in a reckless abandon kind of way. I guess you'd call it wildness. Thanks for the mention and the inspiration.

in Are you a storyteller? What is your story? on The Thinkmaya Blog
Maya, thanks so much for the in depth review of my Authentic Business Discovery class. You're the first to describe the connection points so well. Indeed it's important to look at our stories and to see what themes have been expressing themselves throughout our lives.
Parker Palmer in his book Let Your Life Speak says that our lives have been trying to get our attention all along and if we'll only look we will see the connections. Just a bit of my story.
Growing up I was disinterested in outer space yet I craved earthy environments, the deeper the better. My first job was on a truck farm, after that I worked installing sewage pipes and then when I was 19 I took a management training program in a deep shaft coal mine. Then even before I read Palmer’s book and made the connections, I was drawn to name my coaching business CoreU. Now as a coach I am very comfortable helping clients get past their surface masks and dig deeply within, even in the presence of their scary shadow sides. I relish deep, emotionally dark spaces and I’m comfortable navigating there.

in The key to happiness and balance is right with you, just learn to use it - Part 3 of the thinkmaya framework on The Thinkmaya Blog
Maya indeed this is most useful because to get to where we want to be it's essential to know where we are. The bottom line is any movement works because it changes ones perspective. Yet each intentional journey requires two identified points a starting point and an objective.
Lance for example would be very well served to get clear on a desired objective instead of looking at all the reasons why it would be nuts for him to leave his job. You have pegged where he is. You said..
"The main idea for Lance here is to stop thinking about his choices and create situations to start “acting and feeling” as if he has already made certain decisions."
That is one strategy that could work for him. I appreciate how well thought out your system is. Lance could also actually choose and objective and make a decision on an objective that would give him both the money and the joy of writing. Working towards that would be ideal.

Hi Maya,
You've laid out a very effective process here. I've created a very similar one that I teach that uses your three realms as well as a spiritual realm to process our deep meaning. I like the visuals you've offered as well as the questions at the end.
I think you'd make a marvelous coach. Most likely we share similar strengths. I also love to create processes to help my clients. We ought to chat by phone sometime. In what part of the world do you reside?

Thank for stopping by Tom. I liked your post at your site and like the quote...
"Without responsibility you don’t have dominion, power, or the prerogative to call your own shots."
I see this so often that people want to blame everyone else and as a result they never achieve in life what they are capable of.

I'd add; 9. Be real. Just be who you are and don't where a mask that hides the real you. Gary is enthusiastic and a great business guy but I think it's also his quirky authenticity that attracts his customers and fans.
This one cannot be stated enough. Far too many folks forget that we are all merchants and merchants need to as for the order.
6. Ask. Ask for referrals. Ask for the sale. Ask for advice from lots of people. Make sure that asking is part of your DNA.

in The Ego Economy: Why the Freedom Economy Is Passing You By on Finance Your Freedom
I blog on how to create work life freedom through the pursuit of authentic right livelihood. Why settle for freedom alone when you can have financial prosperity, deep fulfillment and freedom? Of course there's some ego involved and that affects every damn one of us some more, some less.
I guess bloggers who write more for the social media with long list posts and cute titles are participating in this ego economy.
What I'm most curious about is what one does with their newfound freedom. Many could elect to blog simply for the hell of it or to take up a cause that's dear to them.
I'm delighted to see you leading this charge Clay and wish you well in emancipation efforts.

in Money Talks: How Do You Talk Back? on Billionaire Woman
Money is such an emotionally charged concept form many because of the powerful lack feelings around it when we were growing up. It's connected to everything yet interestingly having more money doesn't solve money problems.
A shift in attitude about it works much better as you've so skillfully pointed out.
