There are a lot of people like that actually. My girlfriend is actually one of them, and she reacts the same way as you do...xanex and alcohol before boarding. I really just don't care. You are going to die one day anyway, atleast if your plane goes down, you will be in the news and papers...lol. I really don't know what to tell you besides: You just have to get over it. If you are going somewhere in the same country, drive, and if you are going over seas, I hope you dont get sea sick.

The press tried to convince us of late that his campaign has peaked and he’ve started fading, but I don’t see that in this wallet-polls, which to me is the most reliable polls right now. With an additional 154,000 ready to open and re-open their wallets, I don’t see why he won’t be competitive for the nomination.

The Trend is your Friend and Obama is trending up and got the momentum from the polls-that-matters.

Believe it or not I just switched my service from T-Mobile to ATT. The ATT coverage (I got a 30 day free trial) just dusted my T-Mobile coverage. I even got out of my year and a half left contract (sleazilly. for those in need, feel free to email for the gory details). I was told that ATT is not just leasing Sprint's network, but everyone else's as well, whatever signal is best. I believe it, 'cause I saw complete coverage in dozens of areas where my old phone would fail to work at all. Best of all, I got the same minutes, same no roaming nationwide plan as I had, plus I got a second phone and number for my sweetie. I also love America.

Actually, for a really great insight into what it takes to be a major league umpire, read the 1st book by legendary late MLB umpire Ron Lucciano, The Umpire Strikes Back. It is a very funny read, but in between the lines is the pain of how harsh that life really is. Eventually Ron killed himself, as if to put a little punctuation on how depressing the whole thing can be. Great stories, though.

I know what you mean. I bought a Vonage enabled wireless router from Linksys. I went to install it. Linksys said they built the product under contract for Vonage and had no support information, drivers or any help for the product; I needed to call Vonage. Vonage had never heard of the box (although their name was on it) and said it probably wasn't compatible with their system (but it had their name on it) and that I needed to talk to Linksys. The Linksys tech sent me drivers for another device that made the box and my computer temporarily unusable. They put me through to their director of technical support, who said the device had been shipped prior to their ability to write drivers to support windows XP, Vista or Vonage service. They had hoped to have the drivers written by the time the product was in stores, but they were running behind. He thought, if I was willing to wait a couple of months, that the box would work.

Needless to say I returned the device.

Ridiculous. I can't believe they send techs out to install this stuff without any training. Ughh! Hate! Kill!

This is crap. Every time they've raised fees in the past, they've said it would reduce processing times. Never happens. And check out this provision in the new immigration bill (which may or may not become law):

"Additionally, the Senate proposal would cancel permanent residency applications filed after May 1, 2005, and require employers to file them anew. That provision is particularly unfair, critics say, because it would create even longer delays for those who've already waited for years."

I guess that's one way to clear out that two-year backlog of green-card applications, which have always been a problem. The waiting times are horrendous. Now, the legal immigrants would presumably have to re-do their fingerprint cards and photographs, have a new medical examination (in all likelihood, I don't know the specifics in the new legislation), etc., and send in a bigger check? Hopefully, that would not be the case, but sheesh! How about the criminal background check? Let's have another one of those, too, I suppose. Welcome to America, land of fair play and equal opportunity.

And it's not to a place where there are no wars or where there is a rebuilt New Orleans. No, it's that place we've been for a number of years now. It's a place where Darwin doesn't exist, where science is ignored, where women are held back, where TV is bland, where news extols Christian values, where the Attorney General covers a statue's breasts for religious reasons, and where Congress and the President try to force a family into keeping a dead woman alive.

These people passed their Christmas resolution last year. Now they will get their religious history week resolution. While they do all this, the world around them and us is falling apart.

Do the Christian gospels record actual events during the First Century A.D./ C.E., or are they the ecstatic visions of a small religious group?

There are no surviving Roman records of the First Century that refer to, nor are there any Jewish records that support the accounts in the Christian gospels --- except one.

In Rome, in the year 93, Josephus published his lengthy history of the Jews. While discussing the period in which the Jews of Judaea were governed by the Roman procurator Pontius Pilate, Josephus included the following account:

About this time there lived Jesus, a wise man, if indeed one ought to call him a man. For he was one who performed surprising deeds and was a teacher of such people as accept the truth gladly. He won over many Jews and many of the Greeks. He was the Messiah. And when, upon the accusation of the principal men among us, Pilate had condemned him to a cross, those who had first come to love him did not cease. He appeared to them spending a third day restored to life, for the prophets of God had foretold these things and a thousand other marvels about him. And the tribe of the Christians, so called after him, has still to this day not disappeared.

Yet this account has been embroiled in controversy since the 17th century. It could not have been written by a Jewish man, say the critics, because it sounds too Christian: it even claims that Jesus was the Messiah (ho christos, the Christ)!
The critics say: this paragraph is not authentic. It was inserted into Josephus' book by a later Christian copyist, probably in the Third or Fourth Century.

The opinion was controversial. A vast literature was produced over the centuries debating the authenticity of the "Testimonium Flavianum", the Testimony of Flavius Josephus.

A view that has been prominent among American scholars was summarized in John Meier's 1991 book, A Marginal Jew.

This opinion held that the paragraph was formed by a mixture of writers. It parsed the text into two categories: nything that seemed too Christian was added by a later Christian writer, while anything else was originally written by Josephus.

By this view, the paragraph was taken as essentially authentic, and so supported the objective historicity of Jesus.

Unfortunately, the evidence for this was meager and self-contradictory. But it was an attractive hypothesis.
New Information
In 1995 a discovery was published that brought important new evidence to the debate over the Testimonium Flavianum.

For the first time it was pointed out that Josephus' description of Jesus showed an unusual similarity with another early description of Jesus.

It was established statistically that the similarity was too close to have appeared by chance.

Further study showed that Josephus' description was not derived from this other text, but rather that both were based on a Jewish-Christian "gospel" that has since been lost.

For the first time, it has become possible to prove that the Jesus account cannot have been a complete forgery and even to identify which parts were written by Josephus and which were added by a later interpolator.

In my opinion, none of us have a right to harm another person in any way, if we abide by this, we all have morals set by our free right to exist in harmony. When people chose a title for themselves like Jew, Christian, Muslim, Palestinian, Hebrew, Hindu, Priest, Munk, Nun, Pastor, etc. they separate themselves into an elite group which represents a stand-off approach to make them look like they are the better for having elected themselves a title, like you are of a lower class because you do not profess an imaginary self glorifying title.

The whole world would be a better place if people did not need a title to validate themselves. It's all learned behavior from chilhood carried over to adulthood. When we were in school, we had King and Queen of the class. We now have Miss America, Miss Universe, President, Senator, Admiral, Governer, Entertainer, Doctor, Lawyer, Actor, etc. Every person seems to want to boast a title to make them look better than the next person or to make them look like they are gifted above other members of society, this is the effect of brainwashing started in the elementary years. The problem isn't in the sectoral structure of religion and state. The problem is that we need a higher dignity of man-woman. Maybe this is what Marx meant by "dictatorship of the proletariat?" To me from the religious perspective this would mean a clear model of devout righteousness. And from the state perspective this means a true redistribution of wealth to restore the free market system. This is how the church and state issue should be addressed, in my opinion. It s the perfect wed between Socialism and Capitalism. No worldview or class status is diminished.>

This is a pretty important statement that has ramifications, which most people overlook. The seductions and temptations of power; you have power if you are a parent, business owner, spouse, professional (fill in the blank). Just because we are these things doesn't mean much of anything. It's how consistently we exemplify what we do. And I think if the average American took a hard look in the mirror, what they d have to conclude is that temptation and seduction has settled in way more than anyone would rather admit. And I ll take it a step further and say that nobody will pick up on David Kuo s fast from politics idea either. I try to put myself in his shoes. Can you even imagine being a 30 something year old person in such an incredible position? And then come out and say we need to fast from this for awhile? He has seen the real belly of the beast, more than anybody who will ever read these words on this or any other blog. He wants to set the right example because HE KNOWS THE SCALE OF WHAT IT WILL TAKE FOR US TO GET BACK ON THE RIGHT TRACK.>

Een fuel cell maakt stroom, het thermisch rendement van een electromotor is iets boven de 80%. Momenteel ligt het thermisch rendement van een diesel (auto) met een twin turbo tegen de 40% aan. Tegen de tijd dat een betaalbare fuel cell een rendement heeft van 70% (totaal thermisch rendement auto ongeveer 55%) zijn we een tiental jaar verder. Tegen die tijd heeft een diesel al lang een vergelijkbaar thermisch effiency resultaat.

Well the video has a great point. But it also begs to ask why the cost of making such video's now-a-days are so high. With computer technology growing at the rate it is, almost anyone with a little experience can produce some really quality stuff. I know I've done it.

The complaint about food service cost, well that's a joke or rather a money saver. All film studios use food service to by-pass certain overtime and mandatory employee break laws.

The complaint about unions and associated fees, well that's a whole 'nother topic.

Still glad she spent money where it could be used.

I used Sage in Firefox. What does Bloglines get me that I don't already have in Sage? Sounds like the notifier might be something that Sage doesn't really do.

I only have 2 miles to commute to work in Kansas City so on the warmest days I just change my shirt. I also have a variety of bikes (fixed gear track bike, a single speed, a road bike, and a mountain bike) that I rode depending on my mood and the weather. They all work well in different circumstances. I wouldn't ride the fancy road bike in an ice storm, and the mountain bike on a 110 degree day. So my theory is get a couple different bikes in the quiver for various conditions.

met these guys in DC at the green festival last month and they were awesome! If your into biking and sustainable living/energy/ect. this is a fantastic program. There are other programs out there for biking, such as Adventure cycling who are one of the largest cycling groups in NA. They offer comprable distance trips at a similiar price point but without any of the integrated programs and sustainable mission PFP offers. check it out.

We have to be very clear. I have the impression that especially PTFE manufacturers are trying to get away and are minimizing the real issues here:

This study claims that "environmental groups agree that the amounts of PFOA emitted by nonstick cookware probably don’t contribute much to your total PFOA exposure".

Waw, now I feel comfortable! I don't eat PFOA.

On the other hand the study also claims that the manufacture of products does emit PFOA. Meyer says clearly on their website that the coating contains PFOA, but that is is removed from the product during application.

And this is the point: PFOA is removed (or is supposed to be) and flows to the groundwater.

And yes, this is what we drink...

Conclusion: Asbestos was also removed from our daily life. And as far as I remember no study ever claimed that there was no problem because we didn't eat it... I rest my case.

I went to a convention called TexCare over the past weekend. They introduce a lot of new ideas for the drycleaning industry.

They had two nPB-based solvents being showcased that directly replace PERC: Fabrisolv, and Drysolv. This solvent does all the work PERC does but it's not hazardous or anything.

My family's been dealing with PERC for years and I hate the stuff. I smelled the Fabrisolv and it smells like normal rubbing alcohol. I think it's gonna be the most practical option for replacing PERC.

It is great to see that some cities have started the change to a more resourceful alternative for electricity. I don't see a down side to useing LED's except for their slight dullness. But over all it is an easy way to reduce energy, and all cities should be able to make that change eventually as there is no down side to doing so. Americans should be trying to reduce ideas that use up too much energy.

When we first started classed in 3D animation we learnt the method of blocking out key poses and timing in the 3D software. Unfortunately for most of us, the temptation to tweek and adjust the character led to weightless and squishy animation very quickly. The initial planning was lost as every movement and character bit gained a key-frame and our brains were weighed down by the complexity of the software.

Now we've been taught the method of designing key poses and getting the timing correct in a traditional2D format. Then projecting the completely solved line test animation on screen in the 3D software and matching the model's movement to the 2D animation key poses and inbetween roughs.

The key frames are clearly marked.

This way the animator stays in control and doesn't start trying to tweek (finesse the detail) in the 3D animation too early, which has led us beginners / students into floaty animation on previous attempts.

From that point, where all the key poses and inbetween roughs are copied from the 2D plan, it's clear what needs to be polished in the inbetweens (referencing the inbetween roughs and using the graph editor).

Now our 3D animations are starting to look and read better.

I guess it's just another way to stick to the planning for the sequence and thus maintaining meaningful movement and weight.

Maybe this following experience will give some other student animators ideas for building their digital movement reference library.

Our animation teacher went down to the campus gym and shot some digital video reference of a couple of students for basic walks and runs with animation students on the exercise treadmills.

Yes, I did say 'exercise'.

This was a great way to get a movement analysis footage (video reference)of different shaped and sized people moving from different angles.

Best thing was that the camera stayed still because the person was on a treadmill. No need for camera 'trucking' (I think it's called?).

The generalist approach has its appeal for an animation student.

It's good to know and appreciate what the rest of the team do.

The apprenticeship as a generalist wouldn't be a bad thing in that sense as it increases an animator's ability to communicate.

I know a retired German architect. He undertook compulsory 'journeyman' training in the 1950s. He worked as a buider's labourer, carpenter, tiler, bricklayer... before he entered his profession. Now he's retired, he looks back and advises he would never have been as good an architect, if he didn't understand how the other parts worked.

I agree with keep striving for that character animation job but learning about the wider craft may be the rocket booster that gets you there. Just by a different path.

I get a bit confused about getting the best result from key poses.

I agree that they are designed when something has to happen. Such as on hooks in a dialogue piece, or an action has to be set in motion to achieve a goal (it maybe as seemingly simple as a character taking a step). They are there to communicate.

So we block out our key poses at the key moments in a sequence so as to clearly communicate the intent and motivation of the character.

A lot of time can be spent refining those poses and the resulting blocking pass looks great to tired animation student eyes.

But how to maintain those clear poses when the breakdowns and inbetweens are added? Especially when working with a computer program that's always trying to create a mathematical mediocre performance. That's the key question I'd like to pose.

How to maintain the clear communication of key poses? And also avoid a 'freezing' of a character from pose to pose?

In 2D we learn about spacing inbetweens to favour poses. In 3D we learn about techniques such as Keith Lango's "stealing a key frame". Our teacher encourages mastery of the graph editor and recognition of appealing curves within it. Then Shawn has also added his wisdom on the subject (Thanks Shawn, that middle paragraph in your post will take a bit of dissecting and digesting :)).

Does anyone else have a method of preserving their key poses but not producing animation that is blatant pose-to-pose that works for them?

Producing the key drawings which become the first phase key frames (before the addition of any breakdowns) is the most exciting part of animating. I agree.

Those key frames tell the soul of the story. Not the whole of the story. The soul not the whole.

To be able to communicate an idea in a couple of well designed, appealing, meaningful poses is so satisfying.

What I meant to say and ask was:

If you don't have an animation convention in your city. I guess you have to make one? We have animation studios and animation courses with animators.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks on how to set up a small animation confluence, to bring industry and animators together?

Kenny. What a fantastic post. Particularly getting up out of the chair. I reckon that goes for we students as well as our characters. It's no wonder we animate characters sitting at desks because that's where we are pretty much all of the time (like even now!).

Our life drawing teacher insists we stand and draw at the easel and use our whole body to make the marks.

Our character animation mentor insists we get up and act things out.

I think that part about getting the character up and moving around, working the poses and gestures is animation gold.

That is sound advice Chris. I'll pass it on to my students. I would add that planning to attend a summer school, or some form of continuing professional development, or applying for an internship in any time "off" that might happen between graduating and landing a job is aldo a good idea.

Thanks for the post Victor. It is a nice 'chewy' one.

Being an animator new to teaching, I'll send up a 'hear, hear!' for, "I'm relatively confident that you can teach anyone to animate basic physics, assuming they have the will to learn and at least an average intelligence."

The will to learn being a big part of that.

Not having graduated at the top of my class from animation school, I hold clear and dear a quote from my animation mentor, Ian Lacey (of the ARC blog in Australia):

"I'm not a big believer in "talent", if there is such a thing I think its just a tendency to be persistent, or to set your standards higher than the next person ...

Even for the best, it doesn't just happen. It's the result of planning, self discipline and persistence."

So until the discipline and persistence carries us mediorcre animators up to the levels of the "talented" or "good" animators, we'll just keep animating... and learning from those animators at the top who are generous enough to help us rise with their advice.

I tried using the second piece of code and came across a seg fault. This turned out to be because the following line:
glDeleteFramebuffersEXT( GL_FRAMEBUFFER_EXT, &nFbo );

Should be:
glDeleteFramebuffersEXT( 1, &nFbo );

This is also true of the third code segment.

You're telling me that a candidate must wear the uniform in order to support the troops? I am very thankful for the service of our troops, however, just because they are/were a service member doesn't mean they are automatically more qualified than a non-service member.

The Majority of Americans haven't served in the Armed Forces, does this mean that their support for the troops is false? wrong? a lie?

Going up/down I-55 to/from Springfield there is one exit that has Oberweis signs... 2 on each side of the road. as you are driving up I-55 they are up on the right side of the overpass the same goes when you are going down I-55. I forget which exit it is but it isn't too far from Springfield

As a student who recently worked on a campaign, the administration at the University of Illinois told me that i couldn't send emails from my student account advocating for the candidate I worked for so I can see this happening to educators as well. I think its all a disgrace.

Governor Quinn should choose continuing lives not end them.

In order to save thousands of lives in Illinois Governor Quinn should instruct his departments to immediately announce the issuance of continuation contracts with no cuts in community MH and ASA funding. This action is easy, can be done quickly and is needed to save lives across the state.

The lack of a budget, a typical situation for many years, does not have to result in the loss of lives in our communities. The Governor does not have to decree that cost-cutting in our communities must begin immediately. Continuation contracting is the option used in recent years while the Governor and legislative leaders continue discussions and negotiations.

The deiscontinuation of Community care has started and will snowball into an avalanche that buries 160,000 mothers, children and adults in community mental health care and 60,000 receiving community alcohol and substance recovery treatment to be discontinued.

Community providers have been informed that they can not do business with the state unless their contracts containing cuts from 25 to 100 percent of community prevention care and treatment are signed and returned on Tuesday. The Governor's office has other optionsâ€¦ the working poor their children and loved ones do not.we donâ€™t.

We have no place to refer these clients so receiving this contract has triggered
â€¢ the closure of community intake
â€¢ terminating care to Illinoisâ€™ most vulnerable children, women, men and families
â€¢ the lay off of community care staff
â€¢ advising our community the threat to peoples lives can be avoided if your office directs continuation contracts be issued

In order to maintain civil discourse let me close by stating that the draconian contracts were not fair or ethical. If cost cutting needs to be done, I urge the Governor to ensure that whatever â€œpainâ€ is necessary in terms of cost cutting be shared among all areas of government spending, not for the most vulnerable among us.

In my opinion, the Berrios/Assessor election will be a complete non-issue come election day because it appears there will not be a viable opponent to challenge him from either side. Unless Houlihan backs (funds) someone in this race, Berrios wins in a landslide. There is nobody else that could compete with that warchest. As a side note, why is it that nobody ever questioned where Houlihan got his rather large warchest from? Those same evil Property Tax Attorney's send appeals through the Assessor's office as well, right?

Über eine Zweitkarte und einen UMTS Stick dürfte ich doch auch mit dem Notebook auf den Iphone-Tarif Surfen? Also kann das iPhone doch (endlich) auch nur das, was alle anderen UMTS-Handys längst schon können- nämlich als Modem für Notebook zu fungieren. Ich kann da nichts illegales entdecken!

gelegentlich hat man ja auch mal andere Dinge auf der Festplatte, die nichts mit Pornographie zu tun haben und trotzdem so sensitiv sind, dass nicht jeder sie lesen können sollte, wie z.B. die Daten für die Steuererklärung etc.
