in The Enterprise 2.0 Recovery Plan on Andrew McAfee's Blog
Well, I did read your fantasy experiment and as experiments go, it seems really unscientific. Where's the control?

I doubt if social networking could really substitute for a good ERP system. Collaborative payroll is probably still a long way off; even with "digital natives" controlling the company. When I hear that term I get this "Lord of the Flies" sort of image.

No, I don't believe there will be salvation for the Big Three; but, if there was, it would be rooted in more traditional, "competition from startups" motivating them to further refine their structure, trim waste, lower prices and control greed.

Oh yeah, and the only reason I found out about this festival and attended it was because of your site. I came from Cleveland, OH for it. So thanks Consequence of Sound! I'm happy I stumbled across this great site a few months ago!

I can't believe Atmosphere didn't play "You" either. Or my favorite "The Waitress" off his new album too. A few good shows that you missed on Saturday were Cut Copy, The Night Marchers, and The Muslims. I wanted to see Photo Atlas and The Presets but missed them.

That's only 4096 combinations... and that doesn't discount the possibility of 1-2-3-4-1-2-3 counting as both 123412 and 234123.

in Kline wants Religious History Week on The Minnesota Independent
What about the war, the economy, New Orleans, etc.? If religious history week is what these people think this country needs today, we're in trouble. I guess they haven't been paying attention the last few years. They are marching us proudly backwards to the future.

Three Rivers Press just published my wife's and my political satire "The Department of Homeland Decency: Decency Rules and Regulations Manual" which is a humorous look at where they want to take us. And it's not to a place where there are no wars or where there is a rebuilt New Orleans. No, it's that place we've been for a number of years now. It's a place where Darwin doesn't exist, where science is ignored, where women are held back, where TV is bland, where news extols Christian values, where the Attorney General covers a statue's breasts for religious reasons, and where Congress and the President try to force a family into keeping a dead woman alive.

These people passed their Christmas resolution last year. Now they will get their religious history week resolution. While they do all this, the world around them and us is falling apart.

I know what you mean. I bought a Vonage enabled wireless router from Linksys. I went to install it. Linksys said they built the product under contract for Vonage and had no support information, drivers or any help for the product; I needed to call Vonage. Vonage had never heard of the box (although their name was on it) and said it probably wasn't compatible with their system (but it had their name on it) and that I needed to talk to Linksys. The Linksys tech sent me drivers for another device that made the box and my computer temporarily unusable. They put me through to their director of technical support, who said the device had been shipped prior to their ability to write drivers to support windows XP, Vista or Vonage service. They had hoped to have the drivers written by the time the product was in stores, but they were running behind. He thought, if I was willing to wait a couple of months, that the box would work.

Needless to say I returned the device.

Ridiculous. I can't believe they send techs out to install this stuff without any training. Ughh! Hate! Kill!

in Megan Meier’s Tragic Death - Charge Lori Drew with Child Abuse on odd time signatures
Phil,

Darwin is right. If it wasn't this, what else could it of been? What happens to Megan when a real boy breaks up with her. Do you blame him for the suicide? What if she fails a test in school and kills her self, do you blame the teacher? What if she got a job at McDonalds and got fired, do you blame the manager? In no way, am I defending the actions of Lori Drew, but the way people on the internet have been calling for her head is out of control. So many people on here won't even listen to reason, and people like me get labeled as insensitive. I think its important to step back examine the whole situation for what it really was.

Or, one might take a look at the same concept dealing with extravegance and war by viewing a film called, "What the Bleep Do We Know." The perfect science manual/motif for the history/religion nut.

in The Global Church and America’s War (by Jim Wallis) on God's Politics
How does one, in the limitations of one's individuality, come to know what is sublime, just? I think, Mr. Wallis, the reason people are inclined to see our existence through the lens of civil service and government, in place of religion or spirituality, is because we are taught that Democracy IS the place to live and worship. We are a secular society and that will always be. Perhaps the Global Church should accept more people like shamans in the day to day affairs of society.
