in I Support the Future of Sponsored Posts on Chris Brogan
Disclose. Simple.
People who think you are influenced by a free Big Mac or even a free Ford Fiesta aren't people who are your base anyway. And if you are a blogger that sells out for a free box of ______, then you aren't going to be around long because nobody wants to read the opinion of a total sellout, even if you giveaway a free box of crackerjacks.
I am not completely objective since you are one of my favorite people so let me DISCLOSE that right here. Let me also say that I give Ted Murphy snaps for taking what looks like a party pic with you, so I like the guy already. Let me also disclose that I am looking forward to seeing you in Chicago for SOBCon09.

sorry to be a stalker about this post but i have just gotten so many horrid 'dear mommy blogger' posts lately that this post fired me up. i think the only thing missing from your post is this....don't be an jerk. if the offer does not motivate you, the pitchER, then why would it motivate the pitchEE?
i was a media planner for years, i always told my media buyers/planners who worked for me this about making media recommendations, telling clients how to spend their ad dollars:
if you would not write a check for the online/tv/radio/print campaign out of your own personal checking account, don't tell the client to write the check out of his/her checking acct.
marketing campaigns are not 100% science but common sense is often ignored by the pr/agency people. common sense and thinking of the other person is the bottom line.

in Guest Post - Handling Negative Comments On Your Blog Post on Chris Brogan
when i get negative comments, #1 and #2 work extremely well for me. i find that the real jerks always hang themselves in the end, make themselves look stupid. the people who simply disagree with me or make a negative comment often become fans, i've found, if you just let them air their pov. but i don't have a political blog and my blog is called whitetrashmom, so the people that find me aren't always the most serious. go figure.

chris, it's starting to seriously creep me out how when i am thinking about a subject, i go to your blog and you have posted about the subject. it's a wt-boston-vulcan mind meld. i got an agency pitch today that said, i kid you not, HI MOMMY BLOGGER. then they told me how lucky i saw to get the opportunity to pimp their lip gloss. it's just so bad all i can do is laugh. i met susan getgood last summer and have been cyber stalking her ever since, she's wicked smart.
i get to meet liz strauss in real life next weekend and i am so pumped. i hope she doesn't run from me.

Synergy. It's the all time primo-groovy word that we always called when we (my ad agency peeps and myself) ALWAYS used when we played corporate word bingo in the 90s. Synergy is (and was) the ultimate kiss-ass know it all ad hipster's word that screams I KNOW NOTHING! The people that are saying they know it all....they are collectively....one big mess of SYNERGY. There is a point there. I hope you can find it.

It is seriously scary how I many times I have a question about a topic, such as "How to Start Speaking at Events", and then you write a post about the topic. I think you are doing a vulcan trick, via cyberspace. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you rock.

in When Will the Volume Game Turn Down? on Chris Brogan
One of my favorite clients, the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, used to say:
If the marketing makes customers buy stuff from my store, then keep doing it. If it doesn't, quit doing it.
He especially loved to say this when the media planners would come in with stacks of stats and research telling the board why the marketing was a great idea...even though it didn't create results long term.
One of the reasons I love your blog is because it's based on using COMMON SENSE. I think marketing, social media needs to be looked at from a practical point of view and things usually work out. Maybe that's boring but I've found it's true.

Chris,
Forgive my rant but those who say you damaged your credibility are just trying to stir the pot. The problem is that on your WORST DAY, you have more talent, brains and heart IN YOUR LITTLE TOE---than most of your critics will have in their entire lives.
For God's sake, how many big shot media gurus would promote a book with White Trash Mom in the title? Okay, you and Guy Kawasaki.
Note to the asshats who are giving Brogan"the business" about K-Mart: Chris Brogan is one of the good guys. Instead of spending time tearing him down, why don't you worry about your blog, your work. Perhaps in 50 years you can be as good and as cool as Chris.

Ok-I saw my first R rated movie at age 7. My older brother and sister took me to see R rated movie instead of The Aristocats. I'm fine. If you consider a woman who calls herself WT Mom fine. Which I think you might.

What the picture DOES NOT say is that you cool bloggers forced me to tied myself up, in order to be in the cool group. A form of hazing, actually. I deny everything. Except for the fact that you are AWESOME and I wish we were having drinks right now with Donna:(

That totally sucks. Those judges probably get some kind of "power" fix----my daughter used to show horses and there was a lot of that kind of "judging" in her competitions. On another note, I can't believe you own a PUG and you're Irish! We're a pug loving, Irish band of geeks in my house.
