Great Post. Unfortunately I'm guilty of some of those.

I hope my comments weren't taken the wrong way. I do love the name of the site and what it stands for, I was just giving an example of a reaction I recieved from someone else that didn't understand the YBP mindset.

I don't believe we set ourselves apart by using YBP. But I try to get my friends into blogging and I would suggest a site like YBPGuide to check out and the response I normally get is: "is that a totally pro black site and all move back to africa and "F" the establishment".

It's funny at first, but thinking back on it, it seems like just that name might give people even blacks the wrong idea of what we're about.

But on the other hand, I believe its a great name to represent a group.

I really like this one "Did she used to love dancing, tennis, or piano? Get her some lessons with a pro." but I think it would be better if you took your mom out to dance. What mom doesn't like dancing with their child. Especially if your a guy, I'm sure your mom would love to dance with you.

I just ordered my copy, can't wait to read it.

The problem isn't the adults, because most of them don't by rap albums anymore. The problem is with the "babies" as you call them. Those kids 12-18 that just eat up this ignorants type of rap music. That's the real problem, because we have these grown men making music for little kids.

But I do agree with you, we do need to start mentoring these kids.

That's a great idea Fredic, I have to figure out who I can subtract. I only really listen to Jay-Z and Nas and I don't think those are too bad. Oh, I know, Mobb Deep they're out and I'll added in Tribe Called Quest. I'll have to go and buy one of their old albums, cuz like Kimberly, I haven't gotten with the times and got a Ipod yet.

I lived I Atlanta when I was attending college and I have to say, it's the best place I've ever lived.

I read that article earlier this week. While I agree with some of it, like that bonds is selfish. But while we hope, it's impossible for every single person to be just like Hank Aaron or Jackie Robinson. That author is going out of way to show how Bonds basically isn't a black athlete and should not represent another great black athlete.

Sure Bonds isn't the nice cuddly person we would like him to be. But you can't take away is impact on the game. You can't take way the fact that when baseball was at it's lowest point after the strike, that he was one of the major players that help it get back to where it is right now. I'm sure hockey would love to have a Barry Bonds right now so they could become reverlent again.

It's great to see that baseball is honoring this great man in such a why. On a side note, I still don't get why so many people are upset that Barry Bonds is choosing to honor Jackie Robinson?

OHSucker, I have to respectfully disagree with you. Yes, these rappers need to put out positive images for our youths, for the simple fact that these kids from ages 12-21 listen to them. These kids actually believe everything their favorite rapper is saying. Of course we don't see that, and we don't believe half of what rappers say.

But I agree with the author, these rappers need to receive the same treatment as Imus, if not worse. I won't lie, I use to love all of those songs. But has I get older and wiser, looking back, it's like what was I thinking....
But the kids do, so these rappers should take that responsibility to help lead these kids in the right direction. Because they're not going to listen to you or me. Sure we could help one or two kids change their lifes around. But rappers if they do the right thing could help hundred or thousand.

I plan on going back to school this fall to take either Marketing or International Marketing. The reason is, I truly feel as a black man it will greatly help me out, better than just having a BA. This is because, on some interview, it doesn't seem like anyone respected my degree.

They would ask me questions like. Clark Atlanta University, is that a good school? where is it located? (yes, they would actually ask me where it's located). So i believe getting MBA would greatly help my career out. More power to everyone that's doing it and/or going to do it.

2nd is just the first loser or the person that wasn't good enough for 1st. Obama, deserves to be president and he shouldn't and wouldn't just settle for the second best. Either go for it all or don't go at all.
