We ask the server for two checks: one for just the alcohol, and one for everything else. Then we separate out the credit cards of the drinkers, and tell the server to split the alcohol bill among those, then to split the everything else check among all of the cards. It's a lot easier for the server than trying to figure out who had what.

Re: marinelli's miscellany

I should point out that it was a hate crime only because the killer thought his victim was gay. Gender identity and expression is not covered by the NY state hate crimes law--though that will be remedied in September, I hope.

Re: marinelli's miscellany

In my world, the word that comes first to mind is "tranny," or some such. We just had a case in Syracuse where the killer got off with manslaughter--though the jury did rule it a hate crime.

Re: marinelli's miscellany

I'm sure Howard University is very proud to have graduated a thug.

I find it curious, though, that the license plate holder says "Alumni." If it were the Howard University Alumni Association the plural would be fine, or if the car were co-owned by two or more Howard grads. But I suspect it belongs to a Howard alumnus, who never took ancient Greek from its Classics Department. (I doubt an alumna would have such a plate, but I'm just going by gender stereotypes here.)

Re: marinelli's miscellany

I was afraid that was your daughter.

Re: marinelli's miscellany

Thanks.

Re: marinelli's miscellany

I'm stealing this one.

Re: marinelli's miscellany

Watch out, he's up to something.

Re: Hey.
