I live in Busan, Korea and a Costco just opened up near my house. I saw the Vaio W there for about, 1,200,000 won...or about $1000 U.S. They're crazy.

No matter how cool it may be, Sony is just plain retarded as far as I'm concerned. This should come with XP. I would never pay a dime for anything that comes with Vista. For about $650, I got the Everun Note with 2 batteries...that's with an AMD 1.2 GHz dual-core Turion 2x64. Sony wants way more money and isn't willing to deliver the power. They've been so out of touch with the public for a while now.

I live in Korea and have been in touch with Raon Digital. I have asked them to provide me one with English XP....that was before the recall. Now that they've pretty much fixed the problems they are balking on selling me one because they're not selling to the domestic market at this time. The Korean won has nosedived compared to the US $ and their costs have gone way up. In 5 weeks, the won has plunged from 1,070/$ to about 1,400/$. Here is a graph of the two currencies.....

Needless to say, my frustration and disappointment continue. I'm still waiting for a final answer. They did send me a pdf describing 2 new models...one with a 1 GB AMD Sempron, a 16 GB SSD running Ubuntu, the other with the original 1.2 AMD dual core and a 24 GB SSD running XP Home or Pro. Pro is also a choice for the 60 GB HDD.

Dell is overpriced crap. It makes computers for people who don't really know how to use computers or don't know much about computers.

Seems to me large HDs on these net books are kind of pointless....wouldn't big drives with lots of data just slow them down....I'm sure the Atom 1.6 is powerful for what it is but it ain't no dual core.....external HDs that stay at home are the place to save important data.

I asked you previously about audio editing on the mini-note. Do you think that either the Via or the Atom would be significantly better for audio editing? I use Sony Soundforge to edit and dB Poweramp to convert.

Well, I'm using an HP Pavillion dvd2000 with an AMD Turion 2X64, 1.61 Ghz...the speed has been good though not stellar. I have 3 one-hour segment MP3s at 64Kps.....I remove 3 commercials from each one.....encode MP3s at 56 kps as well as WMAs at 32 and 16. Do you think I'm going to notice a significant slowdown?

I'm seriously considering the Mini-Note when it's available with XP and the newer processor. I edit the daily radio show and encode MP3s and WMAs for rense.com and I want a smaller computer that will allow me to do that anywhere with maximum convenience. Do you think the Mini-Note will be adequate for that task?
