in Twitter To Go: How one local coffee shop used Twitter to double his clientele on Mr Tweet Blog
Excellent use and execution of twitter and social media to expand your brand and obviously the impact to your clientele. Great to see more companies doing this. I'm not even in Houston but will start following @coffeegroundz just to see what they're going to do next! Also spreading the word to our local coffee shop here @thebeancup Woo hoo! Go twitter!

I think this is a really great idea. It reminds me of the HP Magic Giveaway that's taken place recently as well. You've put together some great packages, but I believe I prefer PACKAGE #2: BLU-RAY/DVD PLAYER PACKAGE

Kids are amazing. May God renew my eyes to always seem them fresh and new and shower them with more love than I can ever imagine. May He give me the power to understand and appreciate how to balance love, with discipline, and training them up in the way they should go. Continue to remind us Los of these precious moments in our days that maybe we don't see.

in Tourism Bureaus and Bloggers on Chris Brogan
This is a great topic to be discussed and I think a huge opportunity for local tourism. Having just come back from BlogWorldExpo '08 in Vegas, I was able to take advantage of the local businesses working with Blog4Tix.com to get free passes to see a Blue Man Group show. All I had to do was write about my experience. I also visited The Hoover Dam while I was there and asked about discounts available if I wrote up a blog post or two about the visit. They weren't interested. I think with the economic challenges facing us, more and more people are going to be staying closer to home for their leisure trips and entertainment. What better way to be market and advertise local businesses and opportunities than to work with your local community of bloggers. Word of mouth advertising is still the most valuable right? The Venetian and Blue Man Group didn't "need" my help to get their name out there more, but they understand that any buzz about their location and attractions is going to help them in the long run.

in Who’s Twittering You? on The Marketing Technology Blog
Well durh! You'd think that would have been obvious to most people. Sounds like they don't "really" understand twitter do they?

You're right, Jason. When I saw the note on the other site about setting up a 'twitter listener' but there was no means to actually 'listen', I had to write the post!

Guess that means you didn't get that cool Google plug-in built either then. Hope things are smoothing out even more as the day progresses. You're absolutely correct though, nothing more important than my family. The challenge is how to balance spending time with the family with spending time doing those things you have to so you can take care of and provide for them as well. I'm sure we'll see you at The Bean Cup soon.

I still want to build that plugin!
Thanks for the support (and friendship) Jason! I'll see you at The Bean Cup tonight!

You all have obviously hit it big with The Tonight Show, Billboard magazine, major tour sponsorships and just general success. How have you all stayed so tight as a group and maintained such a high level of apparent integrity and honesty in an industry that steals that from so many other individuals?

It's weird isn't it? Not sure why we do this to ourselves. Don't forget though, with all that other stuff you accomplished yesterday you've also added a few new friends to your list as well! =)

Great post! Gives me more to think about, I've got a number of years before my two kids are teens, but I know it will fly by before I know it. I think one of the worst things we do is push kids into college when they're really not ready for it. There are other options: military, trades, service organizations.

Absolutely awesome! Thanks for sharing and literally testing the waters on somethings like this. I think it's brilliant. For those that are younger and comfortable with social media and the web, I don't see it as distraction. I can see it as very distracting for an older, traditional attender though. What we need to realize though is that we're not trying these things for them. It's not about them. It's about those who are out there and feel disconnected. What a great use of this technology! in Nervous but Successful Afternoon at BlogIN on The Marketing Technology Blog
I thought your presentation was good today. The nerves didn't come across noticeably to me in the audience. The venue was great, the hiccup with easily accessing a free wi-fi connection seemed out of place. Understand security, but I'd think the "School of Informatics" would understand how to open AND protect their network to on-campus guests a little easier.

Thanks bnpositive! That's good to hear!
Re: Wi-fi, I should have done something to ensure that was setup ahead of time. When I was there for the Bill McKibben event, I noticed the tight security. I was able to make it through okay using my son's credentials since he's a full time student.
We'll make sure we get a custom guest account at the next event! Looking forward to having you more involved as well - you've got a great blog and following here!

Doug, so are you going to get the CableCARD's from Comcast? Be sure and let us know how that goes. Depending on your experience I may upgrade immediately!

in Comcast TiVo In The Wild! on Zatz Not Funny!
Doug, you're not adding. You're replacing and existing, defective piece of equipment with a superior TiVo DVR.

in Comcast TiVo In The Wild! on Zatz Not Funny!
That makes it even tougher. Having experienced and continuing to use an actual TiVo powered DVR just makes Comcast's look like even more of a "less than service." You'd get the multi unit discount on your monthly fee for another unit wouldn't you. You'd be saving $10/mnth just on the service costs.

Doug, where are you located? For that price I'd dump Comcast as the middle man and just buy a TiVo Series3.
