The only person who could possibly be worse than Zuma to run for President of South Africa would be Mbeki himself, as this could create a dangerous precedent, and potentially a slide into dictatorship. Therefore, based on the two possible candidates for the ANC top job, the lesser evil has, I believe, been chosen.

The Cricket over here is just electrifying. I have not been this cought up in anything since the Rugby World Cup in SA in 1995 - records being smashed all over the place, and Hooray for IRELAND!!! It was a great game - especially the last 15 overs where it looked like Pakistan could actually pull the game back after 3 dismissals in the space of about 6 balls, and the crowd just shut up. it was insanely tense - I'm not even Irish and I felt the tension in the pit of my stomach. Eventually Ireland pulled through with some sensible batting to win the game with a 6 (with 8 overs or so and 3 wickets to spare). Great day for Ireland, and for world cricket. hopefully now, you'll be able to get the Cricket on the big screen at those Irish Pubs...

What's so bad with the idea to bum around in the West Indies for a month?

Cayman only has one cinema, with two screens. Its well dodgy and reminds me of Paarl. They have an intermission in every movie! But if you want to watch a movie, you go.

I actually keep a tiny screwdriver in my drawer at work, and my bedside table at home - so i know exactly where to find them if the blasted things ever come loose.

I had some confusion over here in the Americas, because this symbol: # is referred to as "the pound symbol". Really have no idea what thats all about.

I watched Tsotsi on the plane on my way to 'emigrate' to the Caribbean - It really re-inforced several of the reasons for leaving. A very sad movie, because it's not just the story that is sad, but the very real situation it portrays.

I cycled to work the first month I was on Grand Cayman - but its really hot here - was sweating buckets by the time I got to work, plus no shower here. Ick. Its a long cycle too - seven miles (takes about 45 mins), but it is all flat. Since I got the car, I haven't cycled to work for a long time... I want to use it for less strenuous tasks, but... Never seems to happen.

Blarney Castle is cool - a definate must - quite enjoyed it when i was in Eire. The blarney Stone is right on the top of the castle and you have to lean over the edge of one of the holes (I can't remember the technical term) to do it. Disgusting tradition really.
