I am now a legitimate "novice blogger" as you so quaintly call!
This post has been very educative and I have found it useful. I have been visiting you blog regularly, but have not been able to make any useful comments for some time now. Now that I found a post, let me compliment you on a very well written one. I am now able to understand the content of your blogs!
In case my blog id throws, you, this Ramana Rajgopaul. It is a magnificent piece of writing the likes of which I have not seen in the blog space in a long time.

Politicians all over the world are a different species from ordinary people. They are all so self centered that they do not listen to voices of reason. This is particularly true of open, democratic societies.

I hope that some sane elements in both parties will take your advise to heart and stop this forthwith. It is indeed getting to be a joke!

Re: CopyrightSpot: New Copy Detection Service

Jonathan, I have just recommended your site to someone who is in a spot of trouble.
http://www.commoncraft.com/what-do-about-copy-c...

Re: CYG volunteers launched a signature campaign against PMC’s decision

This is bolting the door to the stable after the horse has bolted. To start with, the question whether Pune should host the CYG itself has not been answered. This is frivolous expenditure of scarce resources for a city struggling with its crumbling infrastructure, inadequate policing, rising crime rate and an apathetic administration and political class determined to spend money for obvious reasons, on unwanted festivals and sports meets. The student community should have asked some hard questions about the sports meet itself to start with.

Just ask the common man on the streets as to what he thinks of CYG and you will find an echo of what I have stated here. Ask him about the PMC denying expenditure on publicity campaign and he will say, that the guys who would have benefited refused to share the bounty with the rest of the crowd. They are not unintelligent.

Re: “Navratri”

The sizable Tamil population of Pune and surrounding areas also have their own particular form of celebration called Kolu - a display of dolls and visiting each others homes and pujas, bhajans etc. Places like Rastapeth and Kirkee really come alive in their homes.

Re: 54 ways Pune has changed over the past 15 years

I have been living in Pune from mid 1990 and have seen all the changes listed here taking place before my eyes.

I live along the Nagar Road, and the changes here, such as what has happened to Kalyani Nagar, Viman Nagar, etc as well as the by pass to Hadapsar via Magarpatta city etc are all truly mind blogging.

We had originally decided to move to Pune for our retirement because it was a city of bicycles. I used to visit Scotland frequently though I was based in India. I used to stay with my brother and his lovely Scottish wife at Edinburgh and commute to Glasgow every day. My brother and my sister in law, used to love coming to Pune as often as they could possibly do.

Although they are now divorced, I am still in touch with my ex sister in law, and she may well land up here some time or the other.

You will fall in love with Pune as I did with Scotland.

I look forward to your posts on Pune. I used to visit Pune for business and we used to pass through Pune while driving down to Hyderabad. We used to see a lot of cyclists, broad roads and avenues and hardly any traffic. The weather was always balmy and low on the humidity even in the summers. This was in the 1980s. We then decided to retire to Pune and invested here in a flat in 1990.

Pune has changed very dramatically from when we chose to come here, but the reasons that you cite are as valid today as they were then.

We would not like to live any where else now! My 92 year old father and 38 year old son live with me and we run a very functional and happy bachelor home. This is possible because we care for each other deeply and we do not need special days to remember our attachments.

My sister and her husband looked after their parents and inlaws with great affection and care and I still remember my mother being so happy to be with them at every possible opportunity. I have many other cases within my family to share including a case of my male cousins looking after their parents till the very end.

Such days are perhaps needed in homes and countries where old people are sent off to old people's homes.

Re: Customer Service - Attitude, Authority, Access to Information and Communication.

I have sent a separate email to you. I am in genteel retirement and do not have to either interview or attend interviews any more. I however find this blog fascinating, and shall return and comment whenever I can contribute something intelligent.

The single most important factor that I used to look for in a candidate during an interview is the fear of rejection factor. Good interviewers, among who, I consider myself to be one, will bring out the truth behind the person and decide rather than treat the feeling as a detriment. Good organizations will have systems and procedures to provide adequate training to such people, if selected to over come such feelings.

Re: Austin Has Powers

One thing I learnt after reaching grandfather status in democratic personnel appraisal systems is that there are always two sides to any story. I would not like to offer any advise to either person without getting both sides of the story. The normal reaction is to side with the underdog but, in most cases that can be counter productive for long term development of both individuals. I have now stopped being surprised at how often the underdog plays an effective victim role with no justification whatsoever.

Re: Austin Has Powers

I read all your posts Karla. It’s not going to work in your favor. I have come across people who have given this as the reason for wanting to leave or having left their positions. I do not find this a negative factor at all. The younger generation does not have time to watch television except perhaps for cricket, and have other sources of entertainment and information. I have no statistics to support this thesis, but is strictly a possibility that comes to mind.

Re: 9 Reasons Why Blogging Is Just Like Playing World Of Warcraft

Great comparison and makes eminent sense. I am still new at blogging but can already see what you mean!

Read rummuser's latest blog post....Hope For Peace!>>>

Re: The Difference Between Houses And Homes

This is a wonderful and inspiring article. I would certainly look to follow your advise for the development of my relatively new blog. I look forward to seeing more of your articles like this.

Read rummuser's latest blog post....Dogs as pets>>>

Re: Turn XP into a Blazing Speed Demon

This is fantastic advise. Thank you.

Read rummuser's latest blog post....Customer Service - Quality>>>

Re: HiYo Instant Messenger Addon

I have been using both gtalk and yahooIM. Admittedly, security is now very important but every possible precaution cannot be taken. The trick is in intelligence flowing in from reliable sources. What does it sell? Seinfield and Gates? Where is MS in this ad? What is the message? If as it has been explained, this is the beginning of a series of ads, I think that it is a waste of good money for a teaser, which is unnecessary for a product like MS.

Re: Chrome beat Opera – IE is next!!
