in The Competition for Our Ears on The Technology Liberation Front
One thing missing from the diagram is music foisted onto us by our environment (like at stores, restaurants, etc.) against our will. Why in the hell is Staples blasting music through it's PA system at customers? Are they trying to chase us out?

in Some Shameless iPhone Gushing on The Technology Liberation Front
I hate to be one of the contrarians here, but the iphone keyboard is HORRIBLE. My fingers are fairly big and it's impossible for me to do any sort of typing on it at all.

in Hitting the Reset Button after an Info-Free Vacation on The Technology Liberation Front
When I went on vacation and didn't have access to email or whatever for more than a couple of days, I usually just deleted en masse everything that came in, except for emails from my bank/billpay. I'd go thru the snail mail, trash EVERYTHING except bills, etc. Not once have I gotten stung doing this.
Also, you need to discover a thing called "Vacation Hold" for your newspapers!

in Face (book) off on The Technology Liberation Front
One of the problems with using facebook/livejournal/blogger stuff in evaluating a candidate is there might be info that wouldn't otherwise be available to a hiring manager. Say for example, the candidate is gay (or an atheist, or some other eeeeevil minority) and the hiring manager is a hard-core Christian. The candidate is now dead in the water because of non-inflammatory, truthful posts.

in “fingerprints could become the next social security number” on The Technology Liberation Front
Fingerprints are all too easy to forge. Mythbusters did an episode where they "copied" a fingerprint and used the copy to open a fingerprint protected door.

And balance risks they do! The credit card companies, as a whole, don't really care about fraud, probably because the actual cost of fighting the fraud would be more than the fraud itself. I can tell this is true by the way CC companies handle fraudulent charges. Just call up and say "All of these charges in Atlanta from dates xx to yy are not mine" and they'll happily wipe the charges from the bill, no muss, no fuss. The CC company won't do much in the way of "investigation", they'll just send you a new card In the meantime, the merchants that accepted the fraudulent charges still get paid.
