in Another loss to the Lakers knocks Rockets down the standings on Yao Ming Mania
I watched the game, and honestly I don't see this team going past the first round. They have no second options down in crunch time (when Yao is taken away). Artest is not nearly as good as TMac in his prime. And at this rate, Brooks and Lowry are not playing to the same level as Alston. I really wonder if that Alston trade is going to come back to haunt us, especially since Brooks has kind of disappeared as of late.

in The defense fails in Philly…again on Yao Ming Mania
With the Adelman defense, the Rockets have to play exceptional offense to win games, something they were not made up to do. For Yao to be successful, they have to grind out games, make it slow, lots of trips to the FT line, no easy baskets. In the Philly game in the first half, although Wafer played well, he fell into the Philly trap by taking quick shots, most them went in, but it allowed Philly to control the tempo of the game -- which eventually led to tiring out Yao. If Houston wants to change their style, which Adelman is trying to do, they've got to trade Yao or at least he won't be as effective.

in Controversy with the Spaniards on Yao Ming Mania
In the US, there is a long history the stereotype "slant eyes", associated with anyone of east Asian origin. To depict Chinese people this way by the Spaniards is basically racist. I am sure the Spaniards don't think they are racist, in fact, most racist people don't think or know they are racist. We have to be tough on this one, so its not perpetuated any further.
John: I'd like to hear about your thoughts on this one, since you are an Asian American, who grew up in Houston. I wonder if you've ever been a victim of racism?
Definitely have been. I was called every Asian racist name in the book, but it tapered off as I got out of high school and went to college where people were more mature, went to a university where there were more Asians, and you were judged more on your personality and accomplishments rather than your appearance. -- John

in USA beats China in an entertaining game on Yao Ming Mania
Yao was so passionate, and got a bit pissed off when Deron Williams, among others tried to dunk on him. Yao tried hard the whole game, the Chinese guards couldn't get the ball to him. Sun Yue (just signed by the Lakers) played well, and that was about it for Team China.
Yao is a good guy, tried hard for his team and there was so much passion. I am really proud of the guy.

in Yao and Pau pal around on Yao Ming Mania
Funny that the Spanish team is sponsored by Li Ning and the Chinese team by Nike. The world is getting smaller and smaller.

in Artest responds to Yao’s comments about the trade on Yao Ming Mania
It's that Fran guy from Houston Chronicle who wrote the first piece, since he's in China. I never liked him and his article stirred this whole up in the first place. That's what reporters do. There's not that much news in the off season, and they have to create news whenever they can.

in Artest to become a Rocket? on Yao Ming Mania
Artest is a great player, that's for sure. But this will take time away from Battier, Scola and Landry. A lineup of Yao-Artest-Battier-Tmac-Skip to finish games is an excellent defensive team. We also now have the best defensive players against Kobe, with Artest and Battier sharing the time to defend him.
And the threesome of Yao-Artest-Tmac is up there with the best threesomes in the league, except of course we are still in the West, and the West is still as tough as ever.

in A few thoughts about the Rockets’ draft on Yao Ming Mania
I am not a big fan of either Bobby Jackson. He's really just an undersized 2 and way past his prime. Fingers crossed that Steve Francis can somehow regain some of his past explosiveness, and can play the backup 2 spot. If that's the case, I would drop Jackson and Luther Head off the roster.

in Rockets escape Minnesota with narrow win on Yao Ming Mania
Given that Yao is not playing so well in the last 2 games. Why doesn't Adelman rest him, I think in the last 2 or 3 games. Yao has to play the whole of the second half. The big guy needs rest, and he will be more efficient in the time that he's actually on the court.
The other part about this is that if someone is so brazen to steal something in broad daylight with me standing right next to it, and with dozens of people who could witness it, then it makes me think that people could get mugged or killed pulling cash out of an ATM with cameras recording the whole thing, which I've heard of happening. What has this world come to?
