in First they ignore you… on We Are Social
Great post Chris.

The Mail may mock Twitter, but it does not stop them from jumping on the bandwagon with @mailonline. They've also never been shy of using Digg to get their stories out.

However, you can't help but smile when @dailymail_uk have 600 more followers than the real thing.

in 5 ballsy social media predictions for 2009 on shawn farner
I'd disagree about Pandora killing Last.fm. The UK don't have access to Pandora so we're still very big users of Last.fm.

agreed. I think they might be playing with you Girdy!

If you like points, you should be on Qype (unless you already are) - you get free things when you move up levels

in How Not to Be a Jerk in Facebook on Chris Brogan
It annoys me intensely when I repeatedly get requests to install random applications by contacts. However, I think everyone uses Facebook in different ways. A lot of my contacts are blissfully unaware of netiquette. They're not involved with any other social platforms other than Facebook and therefore have no clue that some people observe rules about how to conduct themselves in social networks.

Unfortunately very new/low social media users rarely care/know about netiquette and in a way, I can forgive them for that, how would they know that it is annoying to add your entire contact base to take part in a zombie application. For them, that is what facebook is for, that is how it should be used. It's the people that should know better that are the annoying ones!

in Word of Mouth, Online Reviews Most Influential in Purchase Decisions on Marketing Pilgrim
It surprises me that the internet is only the number 2 resource for customer support. I find searching forums much more helpful than manuals and their FAQ pages.

It's a shame there wasn't a stat about how many people research buying decisions on the web before they go and buy... I find it interesting how, thanks to the web, a customer can often be even more of an expert on the product than the sales person.

in Will Blogging and Social Media Be Mainstream? on Social Times
I think things like major news outlets putting bookmarking buttons on their stories will slowly help to change this and make social media more mainstream.

It makes you think, if it is just a small selection of influencers that are actually being pro-active on social media, and the rest of us are merely passively consuming, how far away have we in fact moved from the traditional media model of one-to-many communication?

in Nostalgia, nostalgia – remember ‘Les Crados’? on blog till you drop!
Wow! I remember these too! I can't remember what the English versions were called though, I inherited sticker books full of these from my brother when he grew out of them. I must have been very young, he's like 8 years older than me. I'll have get onto the rents to see if they're lying around at home. Good find!

And in answer to your question... Pogs, Gogo's, Goblins and numerous computer games!
