Congrats to MothersClick launching.
Pete - thanks for mentioning Minti in your post.
To some of the people who commmented above, there is a need for online communities for moms, they do find the time and need support from each other. Minti has hundreds of online groups already and the moms (and dads) are really becoming active in them.

Agree with you here Duncan on Sphere being nothing special. I wrote a similar post... http://claycook.minti.com/blog/834/Sphere-blog-...

in Where should I go on holidays? on duncanriley.com
Noosa - go surfing.
Must say though... pretty extreme to have to holiday when the mother in-law comes to visit ;) ... I haven't got to that stage yet, maybe because she hasn't ever stayed over...

in Are 25-40 year old parents leading the Web 2.0 revolution? on duncanriley.com
I believe you are right Duncan, especially in the online space.
The age bracket you have selected seems right to me (25-40), its the beginning of the Y Gen (up to 27 yrs old) and the tail of the X Gen. That's the age bracket the understands computers, internet and business. Any younger and they certainly understand computers and the internet... but not necessarily 'business'. Having said that I did start ineedhits when I was just 20, but back then I was not part of the norm, especially in Perth.
Once you have hit this age bracket (25yrs+) you are likely to have already had children, or are about to... so I think its more an age thing, than a parent thing.
Anyway that's my 2 cents on your idle thought.

in Evangalising Australian blogging and Web 2.0: the Perth Blog Meetup on duncanriley.com
Hi Duncan,
It was great to meet you the other night. I would have stayed later, had I not arrived so late in the first place! :) (I had another business appointment prior, and was thankful you guys were still around when I finally arrived).
Just need to clear up a few points...
* It was 9.40pm when I arrived, not 11pm ;)
* Rachel and I own ineedhits (www.ineedhits.com) outright, however we do not "run" it anymore, instead we have an amazing CEO in Jackie Shirvington and have some great people on the ineedhits Strategic Advisory board such as Matthew Macfarlane (who also happens to be a Co-Founder of Minti).
* We have raised AUD$1.6M (100k in about Aug 05, and 1.5M in Feb 06) in funding for Minti, not several million.
Also - thanks for the invite for the 2web podcast, I love listening to it, but podcasts aren't "my thing". I am sure Matthew Macfarlane will be interested though, he is a major factor behind Minti (3 key figures are Rachel, Matthew and myself) and was key in securing the funding.
Look forward to catching up more often.
You should check out a regular catch up session I have setup for Perth quality internet Web 2.0 players (would love to have you along)... http://www.techuncut.com/2006/04/web-20-techunc...
Cheers

Great find Pete - this is especially good for our site. People are sometimes a little concerned to upload their own photos. With these types of sites they can get great photos without feeling worried that they have said and displayed too much of their own private life.

Robert,
Thanks for giving Minti a plug in your blog, it's much appreciated!
As you know we launched just over a week ago and due to exposure through the blogoshere we already have great advice being posted from everyday parents around the world. Parents are just loving it - which is exactly what we had hoped.

Does it auto load over your webpage each time? Or are you able to action it to load up?
If it is auto loaded, it takes up far too much real estate for people who have not opted in for it.
We are considering chat for our site, but have not made any decisions as yet.

Pete - Bunchball.com seems like a gimmick to me. I think 3bubbles is far more useful for social community type sites.
Gen Y users have little patience for a crappy game, they may try it once, but I would suspect they would become bored quickly. Now if it were WoW imbedded on your page... then that would be another story.

Pete - totally agree with your comments - they should share the revenue - otherwise they are just using other people's content and displaying it elsewhere.
