in Proving the Sunshine - This post over at Get Rich Slowly got me thinking... on jxpx777
Great thoughts, and I totally agree! We have DISH satellite service, and while it's not cheap, it's really helped me prune what I what watch...I really don't channel surf ever any more. I just set the DVR to record what I want, and I watch it as I have time. Right now, it's a fantastic convenience, but I do anticipate getting rid of it all together in favor of Netflix + Network HD over the air + Hulu + custom HTPC in the next few years.

in Diigo Aims to Fill the Void Left By Google Notebook on Sheen Online
I used be a religious Diigo user, then switched to Delicious for bookmarking...then just bookmarked in my browser...all the while using Google Notebook. With Notebook looking like abandonware, Diigo is looking like a great alternative. Also, I think I'm ready to move my bookmarking back online.

Thanks for the tip!

Rahsheen I switch browsers, OS's and computers too much to store bookmarks in the
browser. One thing that was brought to my attention by a recent convo with
@corvida is that Delicious is an excellent tool for research and community
around bookmarks. I use Diigo primarily, but I also have it saving my
bookmarks to Delicious as well. Best of both worlds, kinda :)

in 8 Reasons why MyWorldPlus is the perfect business in a down economy.. on There's a Blog in my Soup!
Thanks for the post. I checked out the link, and here were the things that kept me from even taking the tour:

1) NO mention of what the product/site actually is, other than the vague "3 step wealth generation system"

2) NO linkback to a sponsoring/main website, so a potential participant can check out the parent company

3) A requirement for not only my email address, but also my phone number, just to get a tour?

It just seems fishy, man. Like all the other pyramid/MLM out there. Now, I've been reading your blog for a while, and follow you on Twitter etc, so there is an element of trust there, I think, which is good, and it may be completely legit, and it may even work...and I certainly don't think you're trying to deceive anybody or anything like that. But the website a total turnoff for anyone that's been through the whole MLM wringer before.

Just my 2 cents. Take care!

in Business Testing: How to Know if Your Business Idea is Viable Before You Quit Your Job on Finance Your Freedom
Can't wait to get some details on product testing. Thanks for this! Something else I've having trouble wading through is product ideas...I understand that in general you should focus on niche market with information products, but I guess I'm still fuzzy on how to find the right information...but then that's where testing will come in! Anyways, thanks again Clay.

Thanks for the video post. I've really enjoyed the interviews, and I'm looking forward to some more practical tips, too. It's really difficult to know *how* to test products, etc, if you're a complete newb. Thanks for all your hard work!

in Never Lose An Idea on Becoming A Writer Seriously
I've found one of the most important things for me is to have 1 or 2 capture tools, and stick with them. After using a palm, cell phone, voice notes, etc...I settled on always carrying a small Moleskine pocket cahier with me, along with a good pen (Pilot G2 mini). When I can't write, I Jott. Simple, ubiquitous, and effective idea capture!

tomcolvin I couldn't agree with you more, Nathan -- settle on something simple and
stick with it. I read about the tools you use; they sound especially
useful. Unfortunately, as I live outside of the US, I've never bought
either of them.

I'm really grateful that you posted a comment, as it allowed me to discover
your blog and podcast Productive Linux [a click on his comment author slug
will take you there]. I have a blog post of my own in the pipeline that
mentions the Asus eee, Linux version, which I first saw last fall in
Manila. I'm likely to buy one later this year and to start exploring the
Linux world, currently a total mystery to me. Expect me to visit your blog
and listen to your podcasts with regularity.

Tom
ndixon Totally with you on the Moleskine. All it took was to have my palm run out of juice a few times when a great idea popped into my head, and I had to discover an analogue solution. There's always the worry about losing it, but weekly scanning of pages solved that, too.

The choice of pen was a part of the puzzle that took me the time. I needed something small enough to fit in the pocket alongside the notebook, but with the right kind of nib to allow me to sketch as well as write. Eventually found the answer in a mini Muji ballpoint.

in New Theme for Ubuntu 8.04 Deferred | Tombuntu on Tombuntu
This is pretty sad...I really like Ubuntu (heck I even liked the brown in Dapper) but it does need a visual refresh, and seems like the time is now. Instead, we're waiting *another* six months.
