I loved this post.

I find as I get older that the desire to make amends grows ever stronger. I've never really bothered to ask myself why that is - is it because I retain memories of being hurtful? Or could it be that I'm subconsciously remembering being on the receiving end? Of course I'd like to think it's because I'm (in general) more mature, but I'm pretty sure there must be some personal psychology at play.

I'm glad you got a second chance, and glad you took advantage of the opportunity to apologize.

Love it. Absolutely love it. Items on your list that have given me a lot of pleasure and/or fulfillment are:

15 - Adopted a child ( x2!) - they are my treasures.
11 - Bungee Jumping - the day after I was married, in Queenstown, New Zealand. Although they spell it "bungy" down there.
8 - back when I was climbing, I loved the view from the top. I'm no peak-bagger, but there's something special about the pinnacle.

How could you not include:

1) blist (http://blist.com)? It's chock full of heady goodness (as Apu Nehasapeemapetilan might say), and is the ultimate online list manager. Venture-backed and based in Seattle, they have been making huge strides in 2008.

2) Microsoft OneNote? This may be THE desktop app to own if you're a Windows user. This is a multifunctional tool that runs circles around most other information-organization applications.

I think there is a psychological aspect to airport advertising: travelers coming to an unfamiliar place will have their eyes and ears open to an unusual degree, as they look for where to go, how to get past security, where to take that last bathroom break, etc. For that reason, I suspect that the retention factor is much higher relative to advertising in more familiar surroundings.

Madrona has picked a winner in Damon Cortesi. He's smart and productive. It will be interesting to see what sorts of ideas come out of this marriage of venture capital and Twitter application expertise.
