This is another group they we like to make fun of, but there contribution to music, goes under appreciated. Great choice, if people only knew the number of hits they wrote.

Where is Marcus when you need him. He loved him some Journey. It wasn't until I was an adult that I realized who Journey was. I knew there songs, but I didn't know the name of the band.

It felt like he was projecting his childhood onto the kids, and all he ever wanted was to be loved and have that fatherly touch of affection. He clearly said you haven't been where I've been, and that we make it disgusting. I have sons, and as soon as they're dad walk through the door from a long day of work, they rush to him with hugs and kisses, they need that from their father. When he's in the bed sleeping in late, they wake him up by wrestling with him, climbing all over him. We will never know what happened, but from his description it wasn't about an attraction, it was about fulfilling a void.

Marvalus I totally agree with that...

I think Janet Jackson said it best last night, to us he's an idol, to them he's family. Meaning behind all the fame, he was human, and not a super-human, his legacy was bigger than what he as human could shoulder, and so was his heart. So he tried his best to be super-human, when all he ever needed to be was himself. I can't imagine the pressure he was under as being the best that ever was, but I know it's something I wouldn't be able to shoulder.

Marvalus Watching Janet on that stage and hearing her words put things into perspective for me...we were treated to a vision; those close to him knew him personally and loved him in a way that we could only imagine.

I think you are the first to play Bad. I remember this video so well. Michael could dance his but off.

I don't know how you can listen to Man In The Mirror, and not want to change the world.

I don't think you can pick a wrong song. Right now all his songs are my favorite. I'm finding songs I forgot existed.

His passing makes me feel like my childhood is slipping away. I don't have my original vinyl because I used it as a Frisbee, and threw it into a brick by accident, and it broke into pieces.

Don't stop and Rock With You are probably my two favorites, but as I discovered today, I have so many.

My husband told me to post Man In the Mirror, I should have listened, but I had a hard time narrowing it down to four.

You definitely picked the hits, you have me singing "until the end of time",

Oh my and erotic city, too. This better than OSF.

I'm anxious to hear the third song. I love it!!!! "when two are along"

Great playlist and tribute to the artist formally known as but now reknown as Prince.

This has been one week, full of highs and lows. The worst was certainly Mike Tyson, followed by the racist white woman, followed by the racist white men calling Sotomayor racist for answering a loaded question.

LOL! I know you're talking about Que and MTB4. Yes, back in the day when all the drama wasn't televised, and even if there was drama like in the case of New Edition, the music was still good.

My favorite song is not on here, Spread My Wings, but it's okay, my second and third favorite are.

My husband made a mixtape for me with AlI I Do.

This is too funny, my first choice was Bombs Over Baghdad, but when I added Linkin Park, I thought hmmmm, too much rage, so I switched to Mel Waiters. Yes, BOB gets me going, and is certainly a de-stresser.

Yeah, I think you stretch the theme's meaning, but it's all good because I agree with you. If you would have posted MJ, I would have pulled my hair out.

Stephanie Mills and Regina King were my favorite singers when I was young, too. I use to play her songs on the juke box in the restaurant near our house. She had so many hits in the 80's and then she disappeared....

Ha Ha Ha! 'm first. I just realized that I don't have to wait until Friday to post, I can create my post in advance, and schedule it to post on Friday midnight.

Anyway, I'm so excited to be amongst the early crowd. This challenge was hard, I thought of these two songs, but they were not high on my list. I probably should have posted Something In My Heart by Michele'le, but I went with something more common.

Luther Vandross tears this song up...

Marlon who? Are you sure this is not the Wayans? I don't even think I know all the members of this family. All I know is that I have never heard these songs.

It's official, I don't know much about the Jackson 5, except for Michael and Janet solo careers, plus one song by Jermaine.

in Old School Friday: It’s The Blues, Baby! on Conversations With Marva
Two great choices, part of singing the blues is expressing what's in your heart. Sorry Beyonce, byt Etta was just keeping in real, or liquored. I love Etta's voice it's full of emotion and she was born into a world of pain.

My best friend and I use to play The Thrill Is Gone in 5th grade. We thought we were so ahead of every body in our musical taste...Now that I think about it we were. What 10 year old listens to BB King, we did that's who...

I would have chose all three of these songs if I could, but I did choose 2 out of 3 of them. Boys II Men is my favorite song off that album next Can You Stand the Rain. Can You Stand the Rain is a must...

I actually like the Carpenters version a lot, except when it gets to the chorus. She should have just went solo on the lyrics.

But, no one can do it like Luther. When I hear. "Long Ago"... I still get chills, and my mood is transformed. Love that song by Luther.

I just told Thembi, I wanted to chose T-shirt and Panties, but thought it might be to racy. In college that song was played at every party although it did not get a lot of radio-play. Great Choice!

You took me back, i forgot about this song by Intro. You don't understand this use to be my jam. I am on my way to download it now. You always surprise me.
