in Spud And Chloë: A New Pattern And A Contest on The Hook and I
Oh I would love to make myself that scarf.
It depends on what I'm making how I choose colors. I tend to try and picture the item in use. Like I'm making my dad a modern log cabin blanket for Christmas. I know him well enough to know that he will mostly keep it in his office. So I choose colors that would go with his office.
If I make something for me to wear I get to have more fun because I tend to wear mostly neutral colors. :)
Love these two colors together (the red and blue)!!!

in Where did all the Craft TV go? on Vickie Howell
One would think that even companies like Home Depot and Lowes would be likely to advertise on craft shows. After all I would think most crafters by nature are "Do-It-Yourselfers". Cleaning companies, Food Companies, Home Improvement places... after all crafters shop everywhere. You would think these companies would know that. *sigh*
I remember when we first got HGTV and I lived for watching Carol Duvall. Watching that show was one of the main reasons I started crafting. It makes me sad that there isn't anything like that for my kids to grow up watching.

The sideburns are perfect. He was a confederate soldier for goodness sakes, the boy would have had side burns. I'm glad the New Moon stylists are paying attention to the time period these people were turned in.

in Giveaway Thursday--PGC Accessories Preview! on Vickie Howell
I had my mother teach me how to crochet right around my 15th birthday (the the fall). My then boyfriend was graduating High School at the end of the year and I decided I wanted to make him an afghan. He was going to be going away to college and living in a dorm.
The afghan was supposed to be his Christmas present, but I finished it in time for graduation.
The truth is I just wanted to make sure there was something in his room at all times to remind him of me.
I guess it worked, we've been married almost 10 years now. lol

Because I am learning to sew and need a sewing book to inspire me. lol
Seriously I have no idea what it means and I'm resisting the Google urge too.

in Knits For Bears Released! on The Hook and I
I can't wait to get my hands on this book.
I can't find the info anywhere, so what weight of yarn should I be shopping for in preparation? My mom is getting me the book for Christmas and I would love to have some yarn ready to make some cute things for my daughter's American girl dolls.

Umm....
Well the problem here is that very few American cities have public transportation. Our little town doesn't, so we have no option but to drive.
So with gas prices, and increased food prices combined on our already suffering pocketbook... yep I'm starting to freak out a little. This isn't a intellectual discussion for our family, it's real life. It's something I have to think about when the milk is almost empty and yet I know that we have bills that need to be paid and our grocery budget is gone until the next paycheck.
It seems like it would be more then intellectual for you, since when it comes down to me having to choose between food for my kids or having money for the latest magazine... I have to choose the food. :)

in It’s Here! on The Hook and I
Oh the book looks lovely! At first I thought it wouldn't be something I would need (darn it!) then I saw the fits 18 inch dolls line towards the bottom. My little girl just got two American Girl Dolls for her b'day and has been asking me to make them so clothes.
Lovely pictures by the way! I'm still jealous about the whole Alaska thing. :)

What a beautiful view. The hubby and I joke around constantly about up and moving to Alaska, I think my parents would kill me if I tried. We live about 12 hours from them now and she is miserable. lol
Alaska is tops on my list of places I want to travel. Enjoy setting up your new house!
