in Another Day Another Loss, On A Gap Down Open… on StockRake
Sensei,
I continue hold on existing positions. I took a small position on October 3 in BAC, WFC, JPM, and MON, before the bailout vote, since I thought the bottom was near. WRONG !
At this point, I'm going to wait for the a visible near term bottom, and trade the rally, in anticipation of another downturn.
I think this bear market will last another year, since the last one was 2 years, 2000-2002.

in will the government raid Roth IRAs? on brip blap
Steve,
Your concern may have a reasonable probability.
If a FairTax (i.e. consumption tax) ever passes, Roth IRAs will be taxed, at the time of spending. In addition, savings prior to enactment of a FairTax will also be double taxed since they will be taxed again at the time of spending :-(

Steve,
Great point on being multilingual. At one time, everyone thought Japanese was going to be an important language skill. Now it look's like Russian and Chinese will be among the important ones for the future.

Brip Brap,
Great post, especially showing that earning a high salary requires sacrifice and commitment, starting in college, and even if one loves their work. Thanks for your perpective.

Brip Brap,
Great post. We started living on a single income nearly 8 years ago. Overall, our quality of life is better because of that choice. I am glad we made the decision we did.

Thanks for the reminder on this Stock Market Logic statistic. It's been a while since I read the book and I didn't recall this one.

in Portfolio Progress - September 3, 2007 on Investing Adventures
Jorge,
Good luck in September. It typically is a tough month. And this year, the mortgage credit crisis will continue to weigh heavy on investor's minds.
Among your stock picks, GME was also a pick in my system, but I didn't purchase it. So I missed the recent big rise :-(

in Yesterday’s Selloff on Investing Adventures
Jorge,
I expect downs (like the 280 yesterday) and ups (like the 244 today) to continue for awhile. However, I am just holding for now. I don't plan to make any purchases or sells until a clear direction is established.
BTW, my portfolio was down 5% yesterday and up 2% today. Still positive, for now :-)

Jorge,
Thanks for your submission to the Festival of Stocks.
Great review. I was wondering about Zecco's charges for NL mutual funds. Now I know :-)
This post is included in the August 13, 2007 edition of the Festival.
