in Memory. on Aronil
i love toni morrison's book. ok lah. it's the horror aspect that intrigued me the most.
hey you know sometimes when i dream of times past. as in i walk into a dream that is like an exact re-enactment of what happened in the past, i actually freak out more than feel nostalgic :)
wonder why

plus we're not really studying mass comm anyway.
its more like "communications" without the "mass"
ding.

i'm just saying that my caring attribute comes from the feminine side of me. my masculine side completely detests females, mock females, and err. so on and so forth.
hahahaha.

why must i be a brother?
can't I be a sister?
Ever wondered that maybe it's the feminine side of me that is the caring side of me?
Brother linora.

1) i agree with linora about the book being not that great. somehow, after studying communications for so long, and after months of andrew ng's lectures on paradigms and syntagms and what not, the story was immensely and easily predictable. plus err, writing wasn't that great la. like linora said, the characters weren't that exciting.
2) it's just a book. the sooner we realize it, the better. war of the worlds on radio in the early 20th century made the world believe martians were invading earth for real. Obviously we were invaded by closer neighbours from earth in the end, but my point is, if it is unreal (which it is, and which i will not bother trying to explain. you can get all the info u want off some website for sure), it will pass.
there is a reason why the bible has been the way the bible is since its first days. there is a reason why the stories told since the creation of man till now can be passed on for so long, and still be believed.
it's not a power relation, really. had the almost 30 to 40 pagan kings of judah and israel really was as powerful as what we believe emperors and kings to be in days of old, we would have lost all forms of biblical scripture, be it the ones we are reading now, or the alleged extra stuff. My point is, as much as we claim that there are powers that make religion the way it is for us to believe in a facade, there have been countless opportunities where the word of God has been, as it were, in place for complete destruction as well. (and that was even before the Bible was compiled, and "christians", of prophets and priests of God, were well, easier to kill off than today)
but hey, guess what?
BIble is still around, everything else isn't.
And somehow, I have a feeling that it is because we're not made to last eternally.
God's word is.
So, in time, Da Vinci's code will fade away.

in Discipline and conviction, have I? on Aronil
Star Wars is a good tale of "head knowledge vs practice of knowledge", and hey you're right. He didn't have what it takes to let his learnings come through.
But what intrigues me as well is the fact that, I almost understand that if put in such situation, I would have done the same. Fanatical, but yeah, oh well.
Maybe I need some chick to tell me that "you're breaking my heart..."
sniff. sniff.
Personally I found the legend of Darth Plagius told by the Emperor more... attractive than Yoda's "you must let GO!!!"
BUt that's that whole point of the show, right, to be seduced by the Dark Side of the Force.
NOw u must be starting to get the idea why my nick has been "Lord DARTH" for ages now... hahaha.

in Points of swearing?? on Aronil
swear in front of a kid, and see how you feel. maybe nothing, maybe something. but sometimes its important to see things from a child-like perspective.
not because its immature, but because we can reflect on it.
sure, one can live with profanity. but one can live without profanity as well.
and to say that we can swear whenever we want to, that we are told that swearing is bad, and its really just a word... all that justification isn't so bad, except that it is not thoughts that is "others centered"
and if swearing is nothing more than self gratification, or just a word to whomever uses it, it might not be
the case for everyone else.
it is better to respect the other's discomfort towards swearing, rather than swearing to him/her because it is just another word.
hmm. my two cents worth. and i do swear, lol. though i've repeatedly told myself not too. and i have 2 nieces at home, and i refrain from having them catch my profanity.
apparently the older one has caught my grumpiness. i don't think its true... but oh well...
