in What’s Happening Here on TonyMorganLive.com
Tony - Glad to hear that you are enjoying your time in DC. Having spent several years there in seminary (http://www.wesleyseminary.edu) I would also recommend both the Washington national Cathedral (http://www.cathedral.org/cathedral/index.shtml) and the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception (http://www.nationalshrine.com) as beautiful places and wonderful church architecture. Enjoy your time there!

Tony - Thanks for this list. I particularly think that 4 and 5 are excellent suggestions and are applicable far beyond technology in the church.

in Questions about Prevenient Grace on The Preacher
Charles - A dichotomy is often set up between Calvinism and Arminianism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arminianism) of which John Wesley was a prominent adherent. Wesleyan traditions do not believe in predestination. Hope this helps!

in Questions about Prevenient Grace on The Preacher
As a pastor in the United Methodist Church, my understanding of prevenient grace is that it is the way that we receive or experience God's work in our life before we recognize it. Wesley had a threefold understanding of the way that we receive grace - prevenient, justifying and sanctifying. Not to say that God sends out three different types of grace or unmerited love, but to say that we experience that love in different ways at different times in our life. We experience God's love as prevenient as that God is at work in our life before we are aware of it. We experience justifying grace when we recognize God's love for us and accept it. We experience sanctifying grace as we continue to grow in our journey of faith toward perfect love of God and neighbor.
These are just my thoughts. You might also check out wikipedia.org for a little more information about prevenient grace.

in That’s Quotable [Bill Roedy] on TonyMorganLive.com
Tony - Thanks for passing along this quote. This has direct implications for the church. Each community of faith is responsible and charged with living out their faith in a particular context. The struggle is to remain true to the gospel and relevant in the context. Thanks for the thought.
