Confluence is an enterprise wiki (we use it for our intranet). That means that it has all the functionalities of a wiki like media wiki, but integrates with corporate directory to manage identities and allows user to edit pages usig Office, and allows administrator to manage permissions to single pages and so on. A great environment to store information about projects and convert them to knowledge.

www.mobshare.in is a mobile photo sharing site specifically targeting indian mobile users. A user gets to broadcast photos to all of his/her friends by sending it as mms to me@mobshare.in
There exists a mobile version of the site as well which is m.mobshare.in
Shah Rukh Khan broadcasts from his phone during IPL T20 matches of Kolkata Knight Riders here.
www.mobshare.in/user/srk
Also, in 100s of Cafe Coffee Day outlets across India, users can upload photos via bluetooth & it comes on 52'' LCD screens everywhere! Soon to be expanded to other hang outs like Mc Donalds.

That's a very interesting point of view: I did not think about microblogging in that terms yet. I'll immediatly start a little experiment in my company with my collaborators and partners. Thanks for the musings :-) Nicola

in Mass collaboration - some big changes are underway on The Equity Kicker
I just finished to read the book and:
a) it has the usual style of many american books: here is the brand new world come and see;
b) i do not understand why books must be all the same lenght: most of the times the authors repeat the same things again and again... 100 pages less and it would have been better.
c) it would have been great if examples were more in depth. Ie, I think one of the most interesting one is the story of Boeing 787, but it is just an anecdote.
In conclusion is a good introductory book but, as an exepert about social media, I would have apprecciated more detailed case histories.

I completely agree. There is a lack of vision in companies entering SL: they treat this 3d environment like a separate world, a place to establish a colony. It seems they do not understand: 1. it is a social network like many others, except the fact that you interact with a 3d interface; 2. "places" in world can be designed to have social functions that in the real life cannot have. So: 1. before entering SL, start using other social network because they worth the investment more than SL; 2. do not build arenas or houses, but architectures with new social functions.

Is Henrick American? A good work, a nice home in the suburbs with a charming family and the sunday bbq to talk about baseball ;-) In Italy it would be a good job in a bank or a public office, a family to bring to the church every sunday in the morning and the bar to talk about soccer in the afternoon :-D

I imagine that in the near future you will type an Url and then have the possibility to choose between the 2d and the 3d version. For certain applications, 2d is more efficient: i.e., chats work better with bi-dimensional application instead of balloon on avatar heads). For other applications, 3d seems to be more appropriate: i.e., persuasive technologies.
In that Internet I imagine, SL is only one of the possibilities: there is no reason My Space do not become *also* 3d. And do not forget that SL has a 2d map on his website.
We have to learn how to use 3d and we have to develop more convincent technologies: interaction with bots and other artifial objects is now too basic.

in Mobile - one internet today, but moving to two on The Equity Kicker
There is no doubt that being connect to the Internet on the moove produces a lot of opportunities. The problem is the nature of network and the presence of ologopolies:
- the mobile network is intelligent while the internet is dumb (neutral). The consequence is that to produce value on a mobile network you must embrace the "operator intelligence". There can be only an answering machine: the one provided by the telco. It does not matter if it sucks and if it is built to make people wait and spend more. Internet has demonstrated that the network must be neutral to let people produce value.
- ologopolies keep prices to high to make mobile internet spread. If you do not have flate rates and are not sure about how much you are going to pay, you will not use the umts services unless it is necessary. But this is changing very fast: when you will have wi-fi access all over the city and a device that can connect, you will not need an umts network.

in This is how you answer criticism… on Scobleizer
I was in Paris and i agree with Koehntopp: if you want to create a conversation you have to create conditions to make it happen. Inviting politicians during the electoral campaign is not the right way to do it, because you do not need the crhystal ball to forsee the results.
I believe Loic was looking for the recognition of MSM and institutios: it is like television or newspapers can legitimate you. Many bloggers want to became famous and pass from the conversations to the celebrity. This is a betrayal of the essence of the conversation!
Loic tought he could have done bingo: a standing ovation from the blogosphere for demonstrating he is familiar with people that matter; a standing ovation from the politicians; a standing ovation from the media for being such a vip between the bloggers.
Instead he finished like Zidane at the WorldCup: with his head crashed against something very hard :-)
