I use them both, Yahoo Pipes with a little more frequency. Perhaps on the next brand monitoring post I will touch a bit on both of them, more so on Yahoo Pipes. I did not include Yahoo Pipes because it's not beginner friendly as some of the other ones I profiled. Thanks.

I would create a separate entity for each. It all depends on the situation though. Loic is well known, so it's more beneficial for him to promote seesmic on his Twitter account rather then a separate one. I would let an employee run the official one, field questions, comments, make announcements etc. A little star power never hurts, that's for sure. Thanks.

Kim, I honestly did not give much of look at posterous. I think perhaps I will do a follow up post, and include some newer services. I was trying to keep the list focused on more Twitter like applications. Tumblr was the odd man out :)

Thank you. I'm glad to see more people using Diigo. It's really such an under valued tool. It has so many social aspects and features, that people tend to get intimidated and never use it to it's full potential. I think you should absolutely share you own content, when it's your best quality stuff. I do mention often, not to share and promote your own content. This is because others will do it for you. Often when people are starting out they lack a big enough network for exposure. Under those circumstances share your best stuff, until you build up a network and platform for exposure. On a side note, I need to get you more active on FriendFeed :-)

I have never experimented with a custom permalink structure. I'm curious to see how better these blogs do in the serps, compared to day and name/time permalinks. I know centernetworks.com uses this structure. I don't want change my blog permalink structure, to find out. It probably would cause all sorts of 404 havoc. It would be a good experiment though.

You have a very valid point regarding the permalink structure. It's a tough call, but a majority of the blogs, including you an I, all use the date/time in the permalink. I think it's almost become a standard at this point. It does firmly affix your post to a certain point in time as you mentioned, but from a search engine perspective I wonder how much it weighs or is factored in the serps, and or algorithms. If the date does not throw them off in serps, it will once the they hit blog from the time stamp or comments :)



I think adding the word blog is more beneficial for search engines. If the site is just a blog, a majority of the searches for it will contain blog in the keywords, i.e Broadcasting Brain Blog, Mark Dykeman+ Blog. Definitely having the keyword blog in the url helps, but how much is a good question. As we both know people will find our sites/blogs regardless of the fact. I think it cant hurt, and to some extent might spark anticipation to explore other areas on the site.

rah33ls, Diigo is a great resource. I could see chatter created from social bookmarking. More so from Diigo then other social bookmarking services. I still would classify it more of a promotional tool. The social aspect of bookmarking, I feel has never really caught on. Platforms such as FriendFeed, is now allowing this happen.

Rob, thanks. I was borderline with includingTechnorati. It should not be any ones first point of discovery, but rather an up the chain supplement I do agree though, it's quickly starting to go down hill and becoming less relevant.

Justin, Thank you. I'm still wrangling with what I will use the home feed for. If I do use the home feed, I want a clean slate. This is another reason why I'm doing away with it for the time being. It's a time consuming process building these blocks, but so far proving to be effective.

Rebkin, thank you. Lists will defiantly give you a whole new view of FriendFeed. Spend a few mins of your day sorting through your subscriptions and organizing them. It's definitely worth the reward.

Mark,with lists now I can check up on those people with a little more frequency. I check the lower tier lists about 3-5 times a day. My interaction is a lot lower, compared to page A. It basically equates to controlled fake following as you mentioned. List creation is forcing me/us to almost look at every members feed with a magnifying glass for proper categorization. This gives fake following a whole new dimension.

Thanks for the comment. In regards to bookmarking, I use a few bookmarking services each for different

reasons. Stumbleupon for promotion mainly. Diigo is the core service I use for my link repository. Delicious does just as well.I prefer Diigo because of the "Save Elsewhere" feature. That lets me simultaneously add my bookmarks to Diigo, Ma.gnolia & Delicious in one shot.
