I guess in a way i just explained my self wrong-personally i must confess that im not like other christians. so I guess me being a seventh day adventist. I see as God as someone who i can talk to-a best friend. Not an almighty deliver that is to blame for all the stuff happening around on this planet. Thats sins fault. and God is not here to take sin away-but to take OUR sins away.

may i ask- If God doesn't exist how did the world become like it is today? im not being rude or challenging im just wondering..

ok I understand - so you don't have a problem with God being a friend? I must say though i am a 100% convinced creationist.

Maybe you should check out the story of creation. I mean like their is no other place that we got this 7-day week from. WE get our months from the moon, our years from the son but no one knows where the 7 day week came from. You get what I'm saying. Maybe you should look into the bible, not as a christian but as an investigator not a wonder - wondering doesn't accomplish much.

One way the bible shows convincing knowledge of God is the predictions it makes. Prediction 2000 years prior.

If you search for answers and you have shut out the bible I suggest you re-direct your thinking. You come from a scientific background right? If you actually have a look at some stuff you'll see how scientifically the Bible is. How recently have we been doing open body surgery? Not too long, yet it is one of the first thing mentioned in the Bible.
I hope you do find your answers what ever they may be.

How I explain how a series of different life forms came about is because they were created. I am not a believer in Natural Selection. But I am a believer in micro evolution. (for example how we get black people and white and all the people in between).

Strong evidence to support creation is the giraffe.

The Giraffe.
A giraffe has a heart 2 feet long. It uses this large heart to pump blood all the way to its brain, up its long neck and against gravity.That is a strong heart. When a giraffe drinks it lowers its neck towards the water and valves in its arteries slow the blood flow, hence stopping the giraffes brain exploding from exceeding blood pressure. Now how could a mechinism like this evolve. Could say, an animal that evolved into a giraffe go to drink the water and kill itself from blood pressure to the brain simply say to itself i need to evolve some valves in my arteries to stop that happening again? no It would be dead. Such a creative mechanism that the giraffe shows keeps pointing to a creator.

Although I cannot say that I have any personal relationship with deity, nor do I ever expect to (on my best days I consider myself agnostic and on my worst... well, those days just suck), I find myslef intrigued by your comments. I find your dialog refreshingly amicable for a believer on a non-believer's website when compared to the fundamentalists who show up trying to convert and/or condemn. I frequent this site quite often but do not find the desire to post, simply because most of my feelings are being iterated by so many others who are much more prolific in their ability to write. So, although I do not personally agree with most of the beliefs that you probably espouse I do appreciate your ability to politely present them here. Thanks.

IT DOESN"T WORK ANYMORE...AND PINNACLE HASN"T GOT A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM SINCE CAME ABOUT WINDOWS VISTA's service pack 1....If you ever have to install the driver since updating to SP1 then you'll get the following error 'No space on hard drive'.

Basically, DO NOT buy this product because has known about this for 2 weeks and their forum is being swamped with angry users. It will only work with Windows Media Center for now until Pinnacle pulls their finger out and does something otherwise they will become a laughing stock and I am going to buy Hauppage USB HDTV device soon. Rather then being optimistic, everyone is bashing the new local group and coming up with outrageous remarks linking them to the middle east!! I encourage everyone to go and visit the new offices of the local chapter and learn for themselves rather then rely on the news media. Ask questions, get answers. We are Americans. There's nothing like singletrack designed for and maintained by MTB riders. Out here in Santa Fe we've got a loop that was originally fashioned for a NORBA race called "La Tierra Torture" which was held here several years. That race died out, but has recently been resurrected as a stand-alone local race. Meantime, the trail's been maintained by volunteers and is mostly free of motorized incursion. Motorcycles are used once in a while to buff it out a little, so it has small berms. It winds around a 10 mile loop on rolling terrain NW of town, no elevation change, but lots of up & down. There are sections that are like riding a roller coaster. I think one of the keys to keeping it the way it is is that it goes nowhere in particular, and is too long for casual dog walking. Most of it's access points have been fenced and provided with stiles which you can walk a bike through, but which keep out MX bikes, ATVs and cars.

Also, I do think that Edwards was asked about prayer, though he admittedly didn't talk about how it influences his political decisions...

i think you may be confusing the term mallrat and consumer. usually mallrats go to the mall without an agenda. they only go there to hang out and pass time. consumers are the shoppers who go there with intent to buy. so if your trying to find a new generation of mallrat, there is no need. just go to oakridge mall in san jose and you'll be knee deep in 13-16 year old mallrats. additionally, since that mall was upgraded, the mallrat population of teenagers has increased like 10 fold to what it used to be. this is only one example of course, but i dont notice your observations here.

I just checked the IAFF website, and do not see anything posted yet. Thank you for keeping us posted on the collective bargaining amendment. From the sounds of it, we may have try again next year. Are you able to tell me what the tax relief was for volunteer firefighters? I am a career firefighter that continues to volunteer on the department where I started in the fire service (sort-of...the department just made all of us part-time a few days ago, so I am sure that the change would not affect me now, but I am still interested).

Boy...There are days that the only way I can find the address is by knowing the quadrant. Our district four quadrants, and if they did not announce it, there would be problems. 5555 30th st SW is about 8 miles from 5555 30th st NE in our district. If it is a fire, all stations go, so you cannot even go by which station is sent. That sounds like some political BS to me.

They recently changed the name of a street in a city near me to "improve the neighborhood image." The drug dealers and murderers did not care what the street name was, they kept on with their illicit activities.

If you wanted to get an hour of good music from Itunes it would probably cost you at least 10 dollars and you wouldn't find music half as good as what TC gives us. $1.99 is less than what most people spend every day for their morning coffee and listening to spacemusic will probably keep you healthier than that coffee will. It takes money to make a show this good and I'll gladly give my 1.99 for my favorite podcast of all time! Thanks again TC.

There was a good article on the different video sharing programmes in a recent Macworld article. What I really liked about Vimeo was it's relatively calm interface and customisable embed.... each has its pros/ cons as you've alluded to.

Colonel: Thanks for your blogging. Part of the problem with the wrong perceptions about retirement can be solved if we use the official Army term- reserve. As I understand it, only the general gets retired. Everyone else goes on reserve. The term suggests that they are ready to plunge into the fray at any time, or that they are free to fight on fronts that they choose.

How about applying this official SA standard across your territory to see how it changes perceptions and realities?

I appreciate that Turadg narrowed the conversation to developing a new curriculum in order to get started, but in fact I see three (or four) needs:

1) Use by our administrative / project team to collaborate on everything from budgets, to mission statements, to calendars.

2a) Use by teams of curriculum developers.

2b) Use by teachers as an aid to teaching the developed courses. Student worksheets as attachments, a place to organize instructional videos and links, space for students to create their own projects, and so on.

3) Use by professional development (PD) staff to deliver ongoing PD. For example teachers might video tape themselves teaching a lesson. That would be part of the curriculum for future teachers to see the enactment of the curriculum, but could also be analyzed by the teachers themselves to improve their own practice.

Some days I wonder why we are in Iraq trying to help out a country that doesn't want us over there. From the news media everything negative is reported in huge fonts across the top of the front page. We all know that war sells papers. Fuzzy puppy wonâ€™t.
Only after realizing that there is a entire country over there that is screaming for help and is so tired of a life of cruelty, that I know why we are there. We are there because of the people that donâ€™t make the headlines of the papers. The millions of ordinary folks that just want a smiling and clean work place so they can earn a living and go home to take care of there families. We are there for the them.

Funny. As I reread that it sounded like I was ready for him to hit the road. I was and still am mentally prepared for him to leave. I miss him already but I was ready for him turn the page in his life and grow up. The void in our home is overshadowed by the thought of a young man facing the world head on. Too me it is a celebration and I am rejoicing that he made it to manhood. The fact that I am of age to have a son joining the Army blows me away.
Good times and bad times aside, I am so proud of him.

I heard this report on the way to work this morning and all I could think was "why are they all pointing their fingers at each other?" Nobody could of predicted this. We don't think about hijackers ramming buildings. We do now.
If our leaders spend half as much energy learning from what happened as they do pointing at one another and placing blame, I think we could keep it from happening again.

Why do I feel the need to express my opinion?
Isn't "marriage" a biblical term? A union is between a man and women in the eyes of God. If so, gay marriages are wrong and I feel very strongly that it is wrong. I think it is sad when I hear of a gay church, gay marriages. I learned that these rules were written in stone.
If gay people want the same rights and privileges of <strike>straight</strike>, <strike> normal </strike>,<strike>sane</strike> hetero couples, Get your own term.
Gays have the right (not that I like it) to do as they please as long as it doesn't effect my house and my family. I work with openly gay people and I have no problem with it. In my house, they are not as tolerated.
Separate Church and State? Keep the State out of the Church!

It's funny that what I thought I typed and what people read is different. I have no problem with unions between two people or not allowing unions so all people benifit or, are screwed the same. My thought was that the term "married" was biblical. My wife and I signed a paper at the courthouse that ment we shared all properties equally between us. Then I went to the church and told God and everybody that would listen that she is the only one for me till death do we part. We got married. Married before God.
Everybody can have the same tax benifits or take it away from everybody equally the same. I could care less one way or the other. My point was *looks back at the first post* Marriage is before God. Everyone else can get their own term. :)

My wifes cousin works for the border patrol in that area. He just got promoted to the K9 unit. The last time he was here for a visit I ask a lot of these type questions. I was shock at what happens down there. Catching bad guys and shipping them home and catching them tomorrow. Pick up trucks on the south side of the border get there plates run and they were stolen in Texas last week. He said a few times that the stolen truck was being driven by Mexican miliatry personal. This is by far the easies way into this country.

Good thing Texas has the worlds largest armed pick-up truck fleet. Only way to take over is to throw a BBQ and extend the football season. :)

I am driving data from the browser into the application by changing the status text of the browser (window.status = "myCommand"), and picking this up with a StatusTextListener. Need some care to avoid duplicates, ignore genuine status messages etc, but as a quick workaround it works well. Can format all sorts of things into the status string, which I am not displaying in my implementation.

Correct me if I am wrong. Bush has an idea to take 4% of my social security and put it in my personal retirement fund that will allow me to give it direction and hopefully grow at a faster pace, enhancing my golden years. This will leave the remaining 8.4% of my social security to fund the nations account. If this is what I heard, it will be a great day for my portfolio.
Or did I hear that with social security on the road to bankruptcy, 8.4% will speed this process up and by the time I reach 65 all that will be left is my 4%. It will be a nice 4%, but what happened to the 8.4% they took to fund the ailing project?
A third possibility would be to raise my 12.4% to 16.4% so that I get to move a small piece to a secure location and the social security goes bankrupt on schedule.
I'm not sure I liked any of the above. Did I hear it wrong?

The rest of the speech had me on my feet and close to tears by the end of the night. My son is in the US Army and just got orders to Iraq. He is proud to serve and so am I that he is there. War IS ugly and nobody really wins but we disrupted a nightmare and push a nation towards freedom. They are now rejoicing. The bad guys are cringing.

Wow, another great post from another visionary that sees the silver lining in this economy. I am very upbeat, which perplexes my lovely bride - since my summer management contract just ended.
So I am pursuing some more consulting gigs and building an e-learning site. Then, last week my lovely bride lost her job to downsizing, so we are preparing to go for a ride.

Our lease is up at the end of the month, and we have enough money to last us until April or May. So we are going to visit family in Illinois and Wisconsin, then off to Hilton Head, SC for December and January. After that, who knows?

Far from giving up, we are taking the fullest advantage!

I don't understand why those who are against government must be anti-science. There is a good case to be made that the government shouldn't intervene in global climate change. There is a very bad case to be made that global warming is a "natural cycle". I agree with you that you can't say that a policy was worthwhile by focusing only on the benefits. That said, there is a good deal of evidence that there is still too much air pollution in the air, especially sulfur. It turns out that sulfur dioxide has a role in forming small particulates in the air that are deadly to some and hazardous to all. Whether the benefits of reducing sulfur are worth it depends critically on the value of a statistical life. The clean air interstate rule that President Bush implemented will, starting in 2009, reduce sulfur dioxide levels and is expected to have benefits 25 times compliance costs. Not only is the cost- benefit ratio good, the magnitude of the benefits is huge! Benefits are expected to be between $85-100 billion.

What bothered me about this post is that it seems to imply that the environmental regulation is a uniform bad or can't be measured because we will never know how the money would have otherwise been spent. If you don't like the way regulation is done currently, please argue for a more market oriented approach a la the the Property and Environmental Research Center (PERC). By all definitions you and I are opposites and either you or I should be surprised that we hold many of the same views.

But I am not surprised, because the views you espouse are common sense and being surprised at the expression of common sense is too depressing.

And you nail a central issue – most, if not all of the Presidents elected in my life have been elected by approximately twenty-five percent of the registered voters, perhaps twenty percent of the possible voters. We just had an election here where only about ten percent of the registered voters voted.

My great grandfather stated that the American people elected no one to office better then themselves. Another saying of his tied into this – ‘Never underestimate the stupidity of the American People”.

And we never learn, I was watching the new “Young Indiana Jones”s DVDs and was amazed by the parallels between Pancho Villa and Osama Bin Laden. Both were ‘independent’ operators in their own world (Villa a revolutionary in Mexico and Bin Laden a ‘guest’ in Afghanistan). Both attacked the US (Villa attacked Columbus New Mexico and Bin Laden New York). The US responded in both cases by invading and failing to capture the villain.

But the final horror was that in both cases, the US got involved in major war which distracted from the failure to capture the villain. WW I and Iraq.

We just never learn.

But I heard President Bush’ retirement plans – read below …..

News Release – President Bush announced his retirement plans today. The President stated that immediately after turning over the office of the President to his successor, the then former President Bush, plans to directly enter the search for Osama Bin Laden.

Former President Bush will begin his search for Osama Bin Laden with a new partner, one OJ Simpson, at the first hole of the Palms Beach Resort's golf course.

It is a blessing having a mother who cares. I point out the picture of my parents at the White House and tell people it was my mother that brought my father and it was my mother that made the front page of the Wall Stree Journal because she cared.

Different fights draw different attention, but I am sure that people will always identify you with the mother that cared.

I am with you about New Years, I taken a semi hidden pleasure in having a child with a birthday on New Year’s Eve – this provides an excuse to stay home.

I think each generation confronts an expanded definition of self sufficiency. It sure means a great deal more for this generation then say, a hundred years ago or a hundred thousand years ago.

The truth is never to stop learning….but grow less and back into the jeans if you grok that need.

Well, I think you are perfect. Is this a little too little and a little too late?

I have a daughter who looks a lot like a 14 year old version of you (but she spends hours straightening her curly blond hair).

And I am raising this daughter by myself without the benefit of growing up with sisters.

So, on an intellectual level I understand, but as a guy and heavyset at that, I just can't get there. I wish I could, I want my daughter to get past this crap.

On Thursday it is a stupid world we live in.

I completely agree with this article. I love Justice but I think it was a little early for them to release a live Album. With only one album out it seems kind of repetitive. Ive seen Justice live and they were incredible, this might be part of the reason why the Live Album is disappointing too me. Yes the Remix of Master of Puppets is cool but its value stems more from the surprise and novelty of the collaboration than the actual remix. While everyone has their own opinion I think Alive is much better. But that might be because Ive only dreamed about seeing Daft Punk Live.

In some parts of the country we will blow up mountaintop after mountaintop for coal until there is no more mountaintop but, in other parts, wind turbines make the mountaintop look bad to some people so they vote against them? According to the link below, NC gets over 3/5 of its power from coal. I guess some people think that blowing up a mountaintop for coal looks better than putting wind turbines on it.

In the 60s and 70s we protested and boycotted a great deal. We just seem to be unwilling or unable to fight the way we used to.

Its funny that since 9/11, the world is even more trusting of the media even as they spin them lie after lie. Politicians (as all humans do) lie but our media turns it into print and then find 'evidence' to back up the lies. Media sources flip between pro-iraq, anti-iraq, pro-bush, to anti-bush.. pro this and anti that.. so long as it keeps 'bums on seats'

I find it funny that this product has offended so many people. I got one today as a gift from a mate of mine and I think its brilliant. I was never inclined to want to grow anything before and now I cant wait to see what springs up.

I have to agree with the last few posts as well. People need to take this product as it was intended. It is a novelty item, its not a long term sustainable way of growing things, its a laugh and there are far worse things out there causing more greenhouse emissions that you could be putting your time and effort into instead of bagging out a toy.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't lithium batteries lose a significant amount of charge capacity when subjected to high temperatures? So letting your iPhone bask in the sunlight in order to charge the battery would decrease your battery life at the same time? Wouldn't that ultimately be a zero-sum effort (energy "saved" by using the gadget vs. energy used to produce the gadget plus having to replace the battery sooner?

Sure , nothing special here, the state EPA investigators were given unlimited overtime on this one, they collected samples and drove them to the Spfld lab and were told to stay there to await the results , not the normal course of how they conduct there investigations. sample are mailed and OT is controlled and days if not weeks to get the results, SURE nothing special here.

Hell no, why don't we tack on $25 to each traffic ticket and put that in the Gen Rev Acct, he is stealing(not sweeping) from all of the drug asset seizure accts and no one even the AG Office refuses to take legal action as it is a violation of state law ,I wish someone would tell the feds that he is also stealing from the federal asset seizure acct. hey same thing for the ALERTS wireless data system used by hundreds of police agencies in Il. This wireless data system which is administered by the Il Criminal Justice Authority and paid for by user fees had $400,000 taken by Blago about 2 years ago. Right after the monthly user fee double because they didn't have enough money to keep the system up and running,oh we must remember they only take excess funds now don't they. Now in july they have notified all users that the fee will go up another 30%, and who pays these extra fees , yes you do the taxpayer, BUT REMEMBER THEY ONLY TAKE EXCESS FEES

Tabata should be at tops. Melancoln's a bit high.
Bentaces and McClutchen aren't great pitchers.
Angelini is terrible on offense and Alberto Gonzalez still has a better glove. Ivan Nova is very high. The yankees have tons of OF depth and though Colin Curtis is talented, he is towards the bottom of it.
Jairo Heredia should be top 10 easy next year.
Austin Romine should be a lot higher (close to Montero) and Cerveli could be a bit higher.
Robertson is a tad low.
Mike Dunn is really low. JB Cox is terrible. Hilligoss isn't his good. Patterson ain't either. Edwar is higher. McAllister can't be ranked simply. Too much OF and SP depth. Catcher is deep too, but fairly week in the IF.

It is going to be hard and it will dissuade some people as this blog clearly shows.

It will also increase the perceived value of the certification to an employer. GIAC for all its flaws is pretty much in second place for a security certification ( unless you want to argue a security + is a valid security certification for anything other than entry level ).

The big difference is, there are some odd 60k CISSPs, but when you consider something like a GCIA ( intrusion) there are less than 3,000. That makes a big difference for a company deciding between two candidates.

These days you pretty much have to have the ISO 17024 to play in this space and they require proctored exams.

As another poster said concerning the practicals ( now that was the finest week of my mispent life!), GIAC makes adjustments as we can between the needs of the certification candidates and reality.

Your teacher was able to listen to them talk for 2 hours without being influenced. BUT NOT every Buddhist is like your teacher. Far too many Buddhists lost their faith because they were not ready for evangelists. I wonder why you had to present the other option of cursing, being naked, etc. You should have suggested that Buddhists studied their religion well first and foremost. And, if possible, they should add the study of Chritsinaity, too. I wonder why you failed to realise that option.
