in IBM Collaboration is Interesting - honest guv on Social Software
Hiya. This is great - I just looked at your presentation on slideshare and without your commentary, I can make only so much sense.

There was a good article on the different video sharing programmes in a recent Macworld article. What I really liked about Vimeo was it's relatively calm interface and customisable embed.... each has its pros/ cons as you've alluded to.

in Choosing a wiki for collaborative curriculum design on Open Education Research
I appreciate that Turadg narrowed the conversation to developing a new curriculum in order to get started, but in fact I see three (or four) needs:

1) Use by our administrative / project team to collaborate on everything from budgets, to mission statements, to calendars.

2a) Use by teams of curriculum developers.

2b) Use by teachers as an aid to teaching the developed courses. Student worksheets as attachments, a place to organize instructional videos and links, space for students to create their own projects, and so on.

3) Use by professional development (PD) staff to deliver ongoing PD. For example teachers might video tape themselves teaching a lesson. That would be part of the curriculum for future teachers to see the enactment of the curriculum, but could also be analyzed by the teachers themselves to improve their own practice.

Nice review, although you won't get many Hammers fans agreeing with your midfield line-up (what a surprise!). I think Scott Parker will start ahead of Mullins and we might see Etherington instead of Boa Morte.

in Notes on Poe’s “Cask of Amontillado” on Gerald R. Lucas, Ph.D.
The Masonic trowel, to me, is clearly foreshadowing. This is a story about vengeance, pure and simple. The bitterness of Montresor stems from "as I once was". The mystery to me is what caused his financial and social collapse. I never tire of reading it and actually re-worked the themes for a story printed in a motorcycle club newsletter, centering around Ducati motorcycles.

in NashuaTelegraph.com: Blogs on Off Track

There's nothing like singletrack designed for and maintained by MTB riders. Out here in Santa Fe we've got a loop that was originally fashioned for a NORBA race called "La Tierra Torture" which was held here several years. That race died out, but has recently been resurrected as a stand-alone local race. Meantime, the trail's been maintained by volunteers and is mostly free of motorized incursion. Motorcycles are used once in a while to buff it out a little, so it has small berms. It winds around a 10 mile loop on rolling terrain NW of town, no elevation change, but lots of up & down. There are sections that are like riding a roller coaster. I think one of the keys to keeping it the way it is is that it goes nowhere in particular, and is too long for casual dog walking. Most of it's access points have been fenced and provided with stiles which you can walk a bike through, but which keep out MX bikes, ATVs and cars.

in OhGizmo! » Archive » OhGizmo! Review - Pinnacle PCTV HD Pro Stick on OhGizmo!
IT DOESN"T WORK ANYMORE...AND PINNACLE HASN"T GOT A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM SINCE CAME ABOUT WINDOWS VISTA's service pack 1....If you ever have to install the driver since updating to SP1 then you'll get the following error 'No space on hard drive'.

Basically, DO NOT buy this product because has known about this for 2 weeks and their forum is being swamped with angry users. It will only work with Windows Media Center for now until Pinnacle pulls their finger out and does something otherwise they will become a laughing stock and I am going to buy Hauppage USB HDTV device soon. Even when their program did work it still crashed at times if a channel with a weak signal came around and it could not over come it - Pinnacle is CRAP !

in FOX Reporter Squashed by Father’s Words on Wright on FOX Attacks!
This is rediculous. I'm sick and tired of hearing about the defense of any black person called out as a racist. Because NOONE will come to the defense of a white person called out as a racist. THIS is the double standard, not what the father is referring to as a double standard.

in City Manager doesn’t want crimes or fires given a quadrant designation on Roanoke Fire Blog
Boy...There are days that the only way I can find the address is by knowing the quadrant. Our district four quadrants, and if they did not announce it, there would be problems. 5555 30th st SW is about 8 miles from 5555 30th st NE in our district. If it is a fire, all stations go, so you cannot even go by which station is sent. That sounds like some political BS to me.

They recently changed the name of a street in a city near me to "improve the neighborhood image." The drug dealers and murderers did not care what the street name was, they kept on with their illicit activities.

in Sad day for Firefighters across the Nation on Roanoke Fire Blog
I just checked the IAFF website, and do not see anything posted yet. Thank you for keeping us posted on the collective bargaining amendment. From the sounds of it, we may have try again next year. Are you able to tell me what the tax relief was for volunteer firefighters? I am a career firefighter that continues to volunteer on the department where I started in the fire service (sort-of...the department just made all of us part-time a few days ago, so I am sure that the change would not affect me now, but I am still interested).

in Huckabee Tops GOP Power Rankings, Paul Takes Third on The Iowa Independent
Huckabee surge is Media generated, not grassroots support! The mainstream media is pushing Huckabee not the grassroots voters. Like the man said, after Huck's visit to the C.F.R. he started going up in the rigged National polls that don't even offer Ron Paul as a choice. But they neglect to inform you of that little known fact. The moneyed elite and the military industrial complex war profiteers and big oil are terrified of Ron Paul! They see how he is galvanizing Americans of all ethnic, social, and political backgrounds. They know if he gets in office some heads are gunna roll. Indictments and investigations galore, criminal administrations being held accountable for their betrayal of the American people.

You want to see grassroots support? compare Ron Paul's meetup groups at meetup.com here is the link.

http://ronpaul.meetu...

After that check for yourself how Ron Paul has 10 times the amount of meetup groups and members of all the candidates Democratic or republican combined!

He has a real movement behind him and it grows by nearly 800 new members per day, astounding.

in Where’d all the mallrats go?? on Robi Ganguly's Big Ideas Blog

i think you may be confusing the term mallrat and consumer. usually mallrats go to the mall without an agenda. they only go there to hang out and pass time. consumers are the shoppers who go there with intent to buy. so if your trying to find a new generation of mallrat, there is no need. just go to oakridge mall in san jose and you'll be knee deep in 13-16 year old mallrats. additionally, since that mall was upgraded, the mallrat population of teenagers has increased like 10 fold to what it used to be. this is only one example of course, but i dont notice your observations here.
