In the log I get after this line 'A list of 50 most recent visitors listed in the Project Honey Pot's database.' A lot of this '\n\t\t\'. It seems that the length of this string with crs and tabs is growing when the log gets longer.

Eddy

Re: Project Honey Pot Http:BL WordPress Plugin

Hi Thaya,

Thx for the quick reply and solution. The current 123 units are peanuts compared to the 18000 mills in Germany and 1840 in The Netherlands. Even when recalculated to the size of Flanders, we should have at least 583 wind mills installed if we want to catch up with The Netherlands.
As said in this blog for a private person, it’s rather impossible to install a private wind mill. They prefer mineral water, pushed by big media campaigns emphasizing that only water of volcanic origin or purified x number of years through the mountains can be really healthy.

The message you should remember is that you keep the use of bottled water to a minimum. As mentioned in this blog, I’m not so keen on the carbon offset systems/companies shooting up like mushrooms and pinch their share of the eco-hype and - more important - money. The latter is the sometimes the real motive underlying these initiatives/companies where the ultimate goal is to make profit after all. Therefore I’m more likely to support NGO initiatives where the cost structure is transparent and you exactly know where the/your money goes to.

Eddy

Re: VW Golf Diesel BlueMotion Concept: 62 MPG, 99g CO2/km

Wow, that's more efficient than a Prius. The price puts up a barrier for the general people and thus this vehicle becomes a thingummy for the happy few which are maybe not interested in saving fuel, because they can afford it anyway.

------author replies-----

Hi, Eddy:

I don't really think the sexy stuff like eROCKIT gets more attention, but when something is aesthetically pleasing and it breaks some ground technically, it does get attention.

Re: eROCKIT - the World's Most Expensive Electric Motorized Bike?

It looks nothing more than a refined E-Solex (btw designed by Pininfarina) with nano-phosphate lithium batteries to me though.

Re: Honda's All-New Honda Insight Hybrid: Fuel Economy Similar to Civic Hybrid

I don't understand why a Prius is always taken as a measure whilst some diesels are more efficient this hybrid. This hot water is off course used in the kitchen - you don’t need use a much gas/electricity to boil water anymore - and the bathroom. As mentioned in this blog I wondered if we couldn’t use it for other appliances like the washing machine and the dish washer. They use a lot of electricity in order to get the water at the right temperature.

We have a device now that enables you to fill hot water from the sun boiler into the washing machine

Eddy

Re: Toshiba Makes e-Cycling Easier with Expanded Recycling Program

Question of course what happens with the recycled stuff.

As mentioned in this blog, Flanders (Belgium) is a self claimed recycling champ. That isn’t a token of green consciousness though. Recycling waste is just a matter of making money and one goes far with that principle.

But dismantling the goods and stripping wires is a labour intensive and dangerous jobs. So what does one do with them? One sells the goods to countries like India, China, etc. where one isn’t so fussy environmental wise when it comes to money. I’m certain that you’ve seen the images of underpaid people are dumping everything in chemical baths in order to separate the valuable from the garbage and dump the latter. All this in degrading situations where people nor the environment aren’t protected.

Re: Bamboo Encased Computers: A Help or Hindrance to Greener Electronics?

Hi,

As mentioned in this blog ICT companies are subject to changing fashions. If this year’s hype is green, they are all suddenly greener than grass. If next year dictates the colour purple, they’ll be that too. I don’t take a company to my (green) heart if they suddenly start to build laptops with a bamboo cover.

Eddy

Re: Save Paper, Save Money: 5 Free Software Downloads That Spare Your Printer

Hi,

Nice overview indeed. As mentioned in this blog, we've been calculating the CO2 emission for our meetings. 65% or 669.6kg of the CO2 comes from the use of paper. The 100 kg paper puts a heavy burden on our CO2 emission. One might think that using recycled paper shouldn’t place such a load on the environment. In fact, it doesn’t make such a difference: 7 kg CO2 for non recycled paper versus 6 kg CO2 for recycled paper. It isn’t the paper itself put the printing is the evildoer: 4.5 kg

I'd like to add Print what you like as a tip.

Eddy

Re: AlertMe Smart Plugs Help Automate Home Energy Use

Hi,

As such, there is no need to use such fancy (thus expensive?) devices.

As mentioned blog there are plenty of alternatives which do the same trick to monitor the power and to switch of things when not used.

Eddy

Re: US Navy First: Moving Cargo By Kite-Powered Ship

Hi,

This is indeed a very innovative technology.
