I was scanning your RSS feed taking in news of your malady when my eye caught what I briefly thought was a picture - a bright red intestiney-looking mass surrounded by red pustules - OHMYGAWDTHATLOOKSAWFUL!
Oh, wait, it is the Kellog breakfast pastry from your previous post - nevermind.
Trust you to not get a summer cold but something different, dramatic, and interesting. Hope you feel better soon.

I want to come out with a line of decorative CPAP masks.
Mardi Gras theme with glitter, beads, & feathers. A shiny black “Darth Vader” SciFi model with extra respirator sounds. A plushie line of Pooh Bears & fuzzy chicken masks. And for you, Scott, a Mickey Mouse one complete with nose & big round ears (soft).
No more scaring the tricks, just put on your Apnea Pal Mask (c)!

Actually the traditional use of the “Buttered Cat Paradox” is giant arrays of rotating cat/toast assemblies powering electrical generators.
Presumably the dairy states support this, though the corn (ethanol) states probably don’t.

in My CompUSA Store is Closing! on Disneybear
Yes, and with the “sales” CompUSA prices are only ridiculous, not obscene. The truth is CompUSA was only good for browsing or emergency situations, never for shopping. At CompUSA a FireWire cable for $4o while two blocks away at Target the same, along with two adapters, for $16.
Also at Target/BestBuy/Walmart/Circuit City I don’t expect the clerks to have a clue, at CompUSA they pretended to. The number of bizarre, inaccurate, heck flat-out-wrong (not to mention occasionally actively deceptive) statements I’ve heard from CompUSA drones is extraordinary. I wouldn’t trust ‘em for the day of the week.
Anyway, for local purchases there’s still MicroCenter over in Cambridge. They’ve got the decent deal every so often and their staff is about 10% cluefull. For non-immediate purchases I rely on DealNews.com, which keeps me up on NewEgg & other’s deals.
ps for those looking for closeout deals at CompUSA don’t hope for much. The closing stores were sold to a liquidator the day they were announced and the liquidator plans is to sell their contents as lots in a few weeks. Right now they’re just taking advantage of the public interest to move some still overpriced merchandise.

I’m with ya honey! Luckily I found a bottle of “Viri-Med” in the downstairs bathroom, I’m guessing it’s 15+ years old, but it’s chock full of buzzy head-clearing goodness. It’s still pharmacologically active; my head is clearing a bit and the oriental rugs aren’t any more psychedelic then usual.
Send da Huzbear over if you need some hits, I’m willing to part with a few only for you (the meth labs will have to wait ‘til we’re both recovered before any remaining pills get offered up on Ebay )
Be well, it’s time for my every-30-minutes sugar-free Ricolla cough-drops (lemon-mint this time) Then off to sleep another 20 hours.

in Six Flags New England is Loser of the Week on Disneybear
Sorry Scott, Six Flags New England is kinda sad.
The plantings are tattered, the paint faded, the props rotting & bleached out, gum glued everwhere, and the crowd, well, count-the-toes.
For me the most telling part was the new ride, the raft roller-coaster. We didn't get on it, the line was always too long, but a brand new ride had a green gooey swamp below it, right next to the line. What - they couldn't budget for a load of gravel to cover up the puddles below the ride? Actually, not a puddle, a full-blown swap. Stand in line, get EEE / West Nile Virus.
For what Six Flags New England charges, for parking, for entrance, for food, it is tragic.

For those using Gallery - v.1.5 is now out, and 2 has reached 2nd beta.
I just retried Kubrick on my spiffy new 1.5 - still the same not-showing-up-as-a-choice, and when I manually edit config.php to add kubrick I end up with an off-center & too-wide layout. :(

I'm sorry to hear you've tossed in the towel on this, though if you've moved on to another photo service then it makes sense. However it does appear you've got Kubrick 99% working and it would be sad to see that go to waste.
I think it would be great if you were to post this as a new thread to the Gallery forums, note that it is mostly-finished. Hopefully that would attract the attention of someone else knowledgable and they might get it that final 1% to completion.
WordPress & Gallery are a good match, it would be really nice if they could be skinned similarly.

Hey -
It's been awhile, wondering if you're still interested in getting Kubrick to generically work on Gallery?
I know I still have the alignment issue, from the Galley forums it appears others do too, as well as the not-appearing-as-a-choice bug. I don't mean to push, but I think it would be great if Kubrick were able to be included in the 1.5 release.

First off, thanks again for all of the effort on this.
Second, in as much in reference to other commentators, it's true Gallery 1.n is not particularly skin-able. It is almost completely table based. It is valid html, but clearly not best-practices-2005.
That's because Gallery is an old project. Or, perhaps a better term, a mature project. The ability to add skins is relatively recent, a retrofit to the existing architecture. Tables, those are what Gallery inherited from it's initial design.
That it is possible to skin Gallery 1.n is a testament to the robustness of the code and the diligence of the developers & the skinners. Indeed improved skin-ability has been an area of rapid development in the last few releases of Gallery 1.n.
However Gallery 2 is in alpha release and should be beta within a few weeks. That next-generation version of Gallery is much more modern in it's html generation, apparently very skin-able, has a plug-in architecture, etc.
If you're determined to do some sophisticated skinning that is where to look: Gallery 2. However most folks are holding off using it 'til it is, at least, in beta. So, for those of us running 1.n, for at least a while longer, thank you for your efforts so far.
If you do get terribly frustrated, instead of thinking forking or whatnot, please consider putting some effort in on the Gallery 2 side. That way when the rest of us move over we'll have your contributions ready and waiting for us, to much gratitude.
However it is still in alpha release and so most folks, particularly those of us without the skills to be good alpha testers, are waiting for at least a beta version to be released.

FWIW Kubrick still doesn't show up in my skins list. However when edited into config.php it does load. Also no chmod or anything required now.
I'm running a fresh install of kubrick-for-gallery-2.17.zip in /skins/kubrick/. There is no /skins/kubrick/embedded_style.css, and /skins/kubrick/standalone_style.css is 11785 Bytes.
The "My Gallery" block is on the left, indented about 15px. The "My Gallery" text is left-aligned. However the tabs are properly centered.
The body of the page is indented 20px on the left, 10px on the right. It completely overlaps the background block.
I hope this help.

Getting better! :)
The graphics now load fine.
The header "My Gallery" block is flush with the left, as is it's text.
The body is now right-indented 1/2 the width it should be, then runs all of the way to the right side of the screen.
The footer is back flush with the left.
My guesstimate is the header & footer aren't being set center. The body width isn't being proprly restrained & set center either. Or I'm completely off.
It's an impressive port to Gallery, and I thank you for your efforts.

I'm running RH9. I've upgraded to Gallery 1.5RC1. My Gallery install shows no issues. Using the 1.5RC1 skins everything looks fine.
I've downloaded the latest kubrick-for-gallery.zip. I unzip it under \skins and it creates a \kubrick directory. I've had to then go in & manually change ownership & permissions (dirs 755, files 644) to get it to load.
In Gallery Kubrick does not appear in my list of skins. If I edit config.php to replace another skin's name with "kubrick" it then loads, sorta.
The graphics are scrambled. The top one is blocks of puple, blue, & orange. To the lower right is a block of black & white static. The top block (My Gallery) is left aligned, the body is right-aligned.
Anyone have any ideas?

in Porting Kubrick to Menalto Gallery on jon madisondid you unzip into your [gallery_home]/skins directory, so you see the kubrick folder along with all the other included skins?
Yep, it's listed in there right next ot the other skins, a folder named "kubrick" with 'bout the same contents as the others.
did you make this folder writable by your webserver? the easiest is to do a
chmod 755 kubrick
in your skins subdirectory
Did that. Even went in and did chmod -R 755 *
you shouldn’t have to do anything to config.php.
That was my work-around attempt as the configuration scripts wasn't listing it, I figured I'd try to set it manually.
my initial guess is that its likely that the webserver can’t read the files.
Hmm, my assumption too, just can't figure out why,/i> not.
let me know if the above works/doesn’t work for you.
These are the same steps I followed before, though I also tried chmod 644.
i’ll try to remember to set up the permissions before archiving next go round.
Thanks. Any further ideas would be appreciated too. I'd love to get my home page, gallery, & word press all using the same look.

Hmm - I can't get kubrick to show up in my skin choices for 1.5. Dl'd, unzipped, un-tarred, everything looks good. Even when I edit it's name into config.php nothing shows up, I just dump to the default.
Any ideas?
