in Free Upgrade to Vista Final (Code-named Windows 7) is a Good First Step, but Not Enough on Zoli's Blog
Although i have no problems at all with Vista i would feel cheated it i'd had to pay for 7. From what i heard 7 is really a marketing "version" and the real version is windows 6.1 so i agree with your vista final comment :)

The world according to Monsanto
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6262083...
Food control equals people control, remember that!

in Scaun de birou ergonomic › Adrian Diaconescu on Adrian Diaconescu 2.0

in Ready for Vista Final? (Code-named Windows 7) on Zoli's Blog
I do agree with you on the fact that MS should give 7 for free to existing Vista owners, but than again vista isn't that bad. i've tried linux a lot and MacOS, and vista is far supperior for my needs at least. small things i love about it:
- not one crash till now
- switching wireless networks was a pain for me in XP, in vista it simply works without any configs
- better performance when i have zillions of apps open.
- show thumbs instead of icons (i totally hate drag and drop with the huge icons - no way to dissable it)
I belive much of the problems MS os-es had was backward compatibility and all the things that come with it.
My prediction is that a bunch of software will move to the cloud and for this we'll need a very light weight OS. However really 'hardcore' apps like Autocat, Photoshop, DTP tools and games are here to stay, and they need a strong OS behind them.
MS will loose a lot of market share if they don't get their online act together, but it won't be going away.
Question for MAC users: how in the world can i fine tune the mouse to act like it does in Windows. It's movement is so unnatural that it drives me mad and i don't even have the curiosity to go further.

That's funny, i almost bought one too. Looks like a pretty cool machine, i played with it at a shop a couple of times. The quality of the whole thing seems to be much better than the Eee PC, would appreciate a review :)

Sooo sick of Apple zelots :) My windows just works, since 2.9 it just works. Out of two apple products in our office (one minimac one laptop) two have failed.
the mini after 3 months of use, and the laptop came with a fauly LCD (white spots) that they didn't want to replace.

Fear is the oldest tool of power ... so i heard :)
Although the global recession (maybe planned?) will affect a lot of people in very bad ways, some great stuff will come out of it for sure. I'm not so optimistic about tech innovation but i think some real art will be born in these harsh times as opposed to the junk commercial music and movies created today.

You should have tried Romania in the '80s, they searched us all the time while visting communist Hungary. It's very sad to see what's happening in the land of the free. Fear always beats freedom if the scene is set right.
