in Adidas makes Hellboy kicks (Why?) on Blackgeekdom
Cross Pollination.
The whole idea of "da' shoes," is to build a buzz within the shoe-culture community...young, hip, irreverant people, generally speaking, with decent sources of income. Adidas is a global brand which lends its notoriety to smaller "brands," like Hellboy.
Its an excellent form of alternative marketing and it builds an overall value to the HB Brand as this shoe will, no doubt, be a limited collector's edition. In addition, it gives Adidas a differential versus the Nikes and the smaller boutique sneaker lines of the world.
HellBoy will never be a merchandising juggernaut but, an opportunity is there to create a street level buzz (that word again). Word of Mouth is powerful and free tool.
Then again these shoes may end up in your local Ross Dress For Less within a year.

in Quick Review: Indiana Jones…Kingdom…Crystal Skull on Blackgeekdom
The problem with the film is that the storyline is not challenging to comtemporary audiences. How maany times has the whole " Area 51, frozen alien in the desert," cliche been exhaustively played out in the movies and on television.
How many different ways can "Thevin' Stealberg," portray an alien with an oblong head...Close Encounters, E.T. Why borrow from a genre he benchmarked many years ago?

I hope that the movie trailer has some incomplete CGI present, the "Green Guy," looks too fake. Hopefully, Norton will change his mind and do some publicity for the film.

in Blade Remake Rumor on Blackgeekdom
Blade III was a poorly written disaster, there should be some sort of redemption for black geeks everywhere. The entire vampire, blood thirsty genre is tired as of now. So Blade would need a new nemesis, a new motivation, a new reason not to give to his inner vampire hunger.
Maybe he could be in a remake of a "Vampire in Brooklyn," directed by Tyler Perry.

It looks completely animated to me based on the unrealistic body shapes in the promo. Nevertheless, it appears to be a decent movie. I wonder will it attract fanboys or make this thing a kiddie flick...probably both. I already see the video game, line of toys, Wal-Mart tees, etc.

in Who Would You Cast? Black Panther Edition on Blackgeekdom
I can't believe no one suggested Djimon Hounsou (check the spelling, I'm on a portable device). An Academy Award nominated actor, powerful screen presence, the physicality is there, the accent, an active diverse resume, dates Kimora Lee. Its a safer pick than an unknown but I am sure he could carry a leading role. Boris Kodjoe, Henry Simmons or even Terry Crews are other conderations

in Just My Opinion by Michele L. on Blackgeekdom
Overall the film was well equipped for a summertime blockbuster madness. I am just a bit disappointed with Micheal Bay's chop-suey style of gripless cameras, rapid zoom shots, together with, cut aways pieced into action scenes. Also, the frenetic pacing left some holes in the plot but, it didn't harm the movie. As a viewer, I just had to turn down my IQ level and enjoy.

The padded look works for me, I'm sure Batman's screen time will be minimal just like all the other films.
He is definitely wearing steel-toe boots. The color scheme is just a strategy to ease the effort of wire work, visual effects & CGI, a common trait of low budget CGI.
Without saying I'm sure the film has quite the budget & production talent but this lends to the heavy scrutiny levied by sci-fi, comic fans and black geeks everywhere.
Besides, Frank Miller set the thermometer and everything else is just an interpretation of this standard.

in Thoughts on the Lost Finale (Possible Spoilers) on Blackgeekdom
Considering the level of depth in the script writing for Lost (as long-winded as it is). I would say that the funeral is for an African-American. I support this by knowing that the funeral home/ burial industry is probably the single-most segregated institution in our country and a writer with a pulse would understand this fact. However, an exception can be argued that a non-black could live in the neighborhood if they have descended from the heights of society whereas they have to live in an alternative socio-economic or ethnic group to survivie. As a race African-Americans view themselves as reluctant outcasts to the mainstream fiber of American and we often absorb others who are different into our communities and our lives because as a race we collectively understand the individual, in question, and thus we give shelter.
