Thanks for the rub Sam. I asked that question over there because it needed to be asked. Check the comments so far. The first person didn't get that we even had a brand, and the second one thinks affiliate marketing is all about companies like iwon.com.

What does that tell you? I fear that the rabbit hole may get deeper and darker as we probe outside of our industry more.

Jeff, what's important to me, personally, is fairness and integrity, and being upfront and honorable.

I do apologize to Sam for bringing what I found to his blog. It just shocked me. There's poking fun, then there's over the line mean. Again, sorry Sam.

And no, I'm not going to call it out here. People can do their own investigation if they wish. Personally, I'm dissapointed, but make your own decision.

#1: Don't feed the trolls, especially during xmas time.

#2: Everyone linkbaits, it's when you bait with boring content that you get in trouble. This is good stocking stuffer here.

#3: The conversation needs to be happening outside our little circle in my opinion, with the rest of the online marketing community. I can't figure out if it's us keeping them out by the way we act, or them staying away because we're misunderstood. Either way, we have to find a way to get them in, because continuing the discussion in our own ranks I don't think is going to get the brand of affiliate marketing any points... but many tell me they don't give a poop about what others think. Maybe that's the right attitude, however, in my experience when you want to grow you need to expand your circle of influence and understanding.

FYI, I will NEVER visit this blog again until you remove the extremely frightening image of the giant bird-man thing in your header. I will have nightmares for weeks now, thank you, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Trust, I'll speak for myself here only when I say the people that you call out, including me, have done 1,000 times more for this industry then you ever have. More vocal, owned businesses, put themselves out there for public scrutiny, everything. You have done what?

When you actually do something more than being a web board loudmouth, you can talk, until then, it's just noise. Maybe I'm wrong, and you have done something?

I don't believe I'm being unprofessional, or snobbish, when I say that because it's the truth from my gut. Anyone who knows me personally knows I'm loyal and I don't hold punches. If you prove me wrong I'll apologize to you.

But if you want my respect, you can earn it. I've earned mine in this business a long time ago through integrity and fair play and helping the industry grow in my own ways.

One day I'd like to meet in person and have a few drinks and just have a good conversation. In the end I believe we're all about the same thing, these online comment things are just losing that translation.

Andy, fantastic writing and dead-on analysis. You could walk into a company and sell this advice to them as a consultant for a $2k day consulting rate.

Nobody has been more vocal or critical than I have of PPP. I'm with everyone else, this is a good step, but I call for more.

Blame Me, I Saved PPP, Where's My Check?

I call a truce, almost. Here's the deal, you (PPP) need to require each blogger to put disclosure either at the beginning or end of their blog post, not just put the disclosure badge anywhere on the page. Only then will it be truly noticed and work in the reader's favor.

And you, Copyblogger, I will follow you to the ends of the Internets with that ftc affiliate marketing nonsense. :) Let it die, only you and a handful of others think it has anything to do with affiliate marketing. The PPP guys are desparate to point the arrow away from the target they put on their back through their own PR success. Don't believe the hype!

Not to be snarky, but what's the fascination with cpm's? I admit, I come from a results background, so I'm biased, but I've never understood the cpm way of thinking. It really only benefits high traffic sites, with minimal, if any except branding results for the advertiser.

For blogs especially, CPM makes zero sense.

I just don't understand why everything has to "math" back to CPM as some kind of almighty measuring stick? That was my point.
