Trust, I'll speak for myself here only when I say the people that you call out, including me, have done 1,000 times more for this industry then you ever have. More vocal, owned businesses, put themselves out there for public scrutiny, everything. You have done what?

When you actually do something more than being a web board loudmouth, you can talk, until then, it's just noise. Maybe I'm wrong, and you have done something?

I don't believe I'm being unprofessional, or snobbish, when I say that because it's the truth from my gut. Anyone who knows me personally knows I'm loyal and I don't hold punches. If you prove me wrong I'll apologize to you.

But if you want my respect, you can earn it. I've earned mine in this business a long time ago through integrity and fair play and helping the industry grow in my own ways.

One day I'd like to meet in person and have a few drinks and just have a good conversation. In the end I believe we're all about the same thing, these online comment things are just losing that translation.

Ahh, the ABW inevitable reference to "clinch" the argument.

I'm unprofessional and I love it!!!!

#1: Don't feed the trolls, especially during xmas time.

#2: Everyone linkbaits, it's when you bait with boring content that you get in trouble. This is good stocking stuffer here.

#3: The conversation needs to be happening outside our little circle in my opinion, with the rest of the online marketing community. I can't figure out if it's us keeping them out by the way we act, or them staying away because we're misunderstood. Either way, we have to find a way to get them in, because continuing the discussion in our own ranks I don't think is going to get the brand of affiliate marketing any points... but many tell me they don't give a poop about what others think. Maybe that's the right attitude, however, in my experience when you want to grow you need to expand your circle of influence and understanding.

FYI, I will NEVER visit this blog again until you remove the extremely frightening image of the giant bird-man thing in your header. I will have nightmares for weeks now, thank you, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Um, this is the best blog entry of 2006, by far, and I've read a lot of them.

Andy, fantastic writing and dead-on analysis. You could walk into a company and sell this advice to them as a consultant for a $2k day consulting rate.

Jeff, what's important to me, personally, is fairness and integrity, and being upfront and honorable.

I do apologize to Sam for bringing what I found to his blog. It just shocked me. There's poking fun, then there's over the line mean. Again, sorry Sam.

Thanks for the rub Sam. I asked that question over there because it needed to be asked. Check the comments so far. The first person didn't get that we even had a brand, and the second one thinks affiliate marketing is all about companies like iwon.com.

What does that tell you? I fear that the rabbit hole may get deeper and darker as we probe outside of our industry more.

Sometimes I think you are simply misunderstood Jeff, but then you bring me back to my senses and all of those thoughts wash away into thin air like a fart in the wind. Phhhttt.
