Well, the options on the poll are a little limited...I used to do the whole incremental upgrade thing (new processor here, new video card there)....then I stopped all that. Nowadays I upgrade when I feel it's worth doing so (e.g. new generation of cpus etc...e.g. DualCore processors with new fast DDR2 ram, etc)...so around 2-3 years would be a good number....on that note...just order parts for a new pc :-)

Good to hear that you enjoyed your stay...and as far as the shops (or their opening hours) go: Haha! If you're living over here, you're so used to it (not open on sunday, etc) that you don't even think about how weird it might seem for other people...and believe me, we're already happy over here that most stores have new, longer, opening hours on saturday (they used to close down at 2pm the latest a few years back)...

I was wondering when you would start to put some ads up. I consider ads on a blog not to be a disruption or "selling out", it's just a way to get some money back (covering hosting costs, etc) and if you make a buck or two extra, why not?

You're spending time on writing, maintaining the site, dealing with comments, interacting with people - this is usually not out of the interest of making money, but for the love of doing it, but if you can make some without any extra effort: do it!

On another note: everyone is doing it - whether the content (or blog itself) is "good" or not, so you've got every right to put some ads up, especially if they're not overbearing... :-)

Success so far: double thumbs up...near 0 spam to moderate anymore and no complaints so far - after all other blogs (i.e. Jeremy over at ensight) are using it too and if there were any major problems someone would have heard complaints and made a post about it...

The idea of a nuclear reactor powered car strangely reminds me of the Delorean from "Back to the future" - can you say: HomeFusion :-)

True true, although in the long run we will run out of oil (not in the next few hundreds years I guess, but who knows), so new technologies have got to step up - although that is really difficult. Take a look at renewable energies:



1. Solar stuff - we could already have cars running with solar panels (just have a look at recent efficiency improvements): problem - the car industry in cooperation with the oil-companies, they don't want any of that...we could already have this up and running IMO...

2. Fuel Cells - we've seen major improvements over the last 10 years (Mercedes Benz is even running some busses with fuel cells already...: problem - still not 100% ready for everyday use + major costs and use of fossil fuels in the production process of needed hydrogen)

3. Natural gas - a real alternative, I already tested a Fiat with dual-drive (natural gas + gas - switchable) and it rocks: problem - the oil companies have no interest in promoting this technology so there's maybe 1 in 200 gas stations providing natural gas at all...

4. Other combo-systems (electrical motor + gas motor)...not bad for a transition period, but we should really get away from the oil...

1liter "normal" = 91octane: 1l = 1.14 € = 4,30€/gallon = 5,57$



1l "super" = 95octane: 1l = 1.17€ = 4,42€/gallon = 5,73$



All due to extremely high taxes. No wonder that germany's car manufacturer's are coming up with more and more efficient motors every year...

Hands-free cell phone laws? Hehe...this is so 2001 (!) - it's prohibited to phone without a handsfree set since February 1st 2001 here in Germany...and rightly so IMO...
